Resting in the Spa

The morning was quickly turning into the afternoon in Land of Fire, the sun high in the sky and casting shadows throughout the valley along hot springs that made up the main attraction for the hotel Henrietta had chosen to stay at on this particular trip. The place seemed like a palace, wooden halls and silk sheets, pools and alcoves lit up at night with dozens of gloriously painted paper lanterns. At the moment though the sun was out and the beds were tucked away. Henrietta was lounging, he form covered by both towel and murky water as the steam poured off the top of the serene spring.

Eyes were closed but senses were alert, it was uncomforting to be in a spring by yourself and so far from your belongings. Her room was only a short dash from the water’s edge to the doorway but for a shinobi that open distance was a lifetime to pick and choose a moment to attack. A deep sigh lifted the ribcage and filled Henrietta’s lungs with moist air that hung like a net over the pool area. Tactics were her specialty but there was no reason for her to over evaluate every scenario that came along her path. Unfortunately for Henrietta it was all she ever knew.

The sigh was let out and finally the burnt caramel body of Henrietta finally relaxed. The hot water soaked away her troubles and let the aches in her constantly active body finally work themselves free of her mortal coil. Things were peaceful here, things were proper here, and here she could let go of her fears (Mostly) and seem mildly normal if only for a time. There was nobody else scheduled to arrive in the spa for a number of days so for now the Falling Leaf could rest in a lazy pool of hazed water heated by geothermals and the sun.

Her fingers clutched the towl that she had wrapped around her small body, and she silently sighed. Today would be a relaxing day for her, she was sure of it. The hot springs were just a few steps away, the heat she could feel on the skin that was left uncovered. It sent a tingle through her, one of excitement. This is what she needed. A day to do nothing but relax and soak in the warm waters that awaited her. Happily she sighed and made her way from her room to where the hot springs were held, her pace really quick. In her rush she failed to see the sign that was tacked up that said who else was in the hotel with her. Even if she did she wouldn't have seen her name.

Why? Well actually she had just arrived at the hotel, coming from a meeting with a very unquie person. Madrox was his name, he was the person that she had met late the other night. Her paced slowed down to a sluggish pace as the earlier events unfolded in her mind yet again. Suc an odd character he happened to be, full of questions too. What he had asked was just a faint memory to her, but the actions he did? They had remained implant in her mind. Absentmindedly her right hand brushed whimsy her neck, feeling the now closing wound there. It was very easy to call him , or rather, compare him to a vampire. The things he did were much the same.

Today her hair was down, her pink tresses faintly glimmering as the steam started to settle on them, lending it a shiny hue. Her eyes flickered up just in time to see she was nearing the waters edge. Apparently she was not alone. The was an odd sort of woman also relaxing in the spring. Her skin was quite different from her paleness, it had a coffee like appearance to it. Which was much different from what she had usually saw. "Excuse me?" Her voice a gentle soft whispear like always. "Mind if I join you?"

Henrietta’s eyes opened at the sound of the voice speaking directly to her. Of course it would be her luck to choose the hotel and spa that allowed walk ins. Must explain why her room had been so cheap compared to other spas she had frequented over her years. A glance was run over the other woman and the caramel colored shinobi nodded. Silence was the mode of communication for the first seconds of contact with the woman, hoping that by allowing her to speak Henrietta would discover whether or not to consider this woman a threat or a simple visitor.

A few more moments were given to allow the silence to soak in the same manner that her muscles were allowed to soak in the hot water. It felt so good to just relax for a moment and now her enjoyment was cut short by the constant state of wary that she lived in. With this newcomer her energy would be given to deciphering who she was, where she came from, and whether or not she would allow Henrietta to continue her relaxation.

“So where do you come from, I did not spot anyone coming from Konohagakure no Sato on my way south towards this fine establishment. You arrived too early to be that far behind me to the point where we did not stumble into each other, so I am forced to wonder what route you took to make your way here today…”

Henrietta smiled pleasantly, a mask to keep her intentions a secret for now hopefully. Interrogations were best done with a target was immobile and at the mercy of the Nara born woman, playing the subtle detective did not suit her volatile and ferocious nature that she had inherited from her mother. Eyes carefully observing her new partner in the spas as she awaited her questions to be answered by the woman. Hopefully without the answers stirring up a sense of worry or opening up further lines of questioning for the Konoha Chuunin.

Slowly she got down on the rocks surrounding the spring and sat. Her feet dangled off into the water, the only part of her getting wet. Her hands still lightly clutched the towle that was wrapped around her, now wary of the questions that were asked to her. Of course she could lie, say that she been here all the time, and that the mangement had simply forgot to notify her. But that would cause unneeded tension, and cause this relaxin scene to become rather horrible in a few seconds. Allowing herself, she closed her eyes for a quick moment, trying to enjoy some of the warmth the water brought.

After a few moments, her eyes re-opened, focusing on the women before her. Her head tilted ever so slightly, a trade mark she usually did and one that came naturally from being an Inuzuka. "I simply wander about on my way. Mostly though, I do not travel by path. Rather I go among the woods." These words wer simply stated in a low voice. One that did not seen hostile, but one that was open in a way.

The unnamed woman smiled at her, which in turn, elicited one from her as well. For now things seemed in order, nothing out of the ordinary happening. Although in these moments of pause between the two, a heavy silence often over came them. Only being broken by the quite chips in the tress around them.

Madrox sat high in a tree unable to sleep during these waking hours. He hated the sun light and even more-so hated being awake during it. He hadn't realized in the night that her perched not far at all from a Hot spring. He decided to take a look at it from his treetop haven. He noticed there was a darker skinned girl, and Rysa. Why did she always show up where he was? How did that keep happening? It didn't make any sense to him. Even though he couldn't hear the girls conversation, he knew they were talking. He could see a light blur of Rysa's lips moving. He couldn't quite make out what they were saying, but he figured it would be best to just watch from above.

He jumped to a tree that was closer and moved his way across the tree limbs to get closer to the hot spring hoping to hear some pieces of conversation. He heard Rysa say 'the woods.' but that's all he caught. He stayed hidden among the branches in the tree, because now he was close enough to hear, and he didn't wish to be caught by the two females. Who knew what kind of trouble the darker skinned female could cause. He watched closely, and hoped to find something interesting enough, to leave the tree and confront the two of them.

Henrietta let out a slow measured breath as the warmth soaked into her form and relaxed her further. Perhaps she was being careless, or perhaps it was the fact that her shadow beneath the water could still be used in the case of an emergency. Leaning back in the springs she smiles towards her new visitor and her eyes went skyward.

The birds were calling in the distance, the clouds were moving lazily overhead, and Henrietta could envision herself sleeping soundly tonight for the first time in weeks. Her paranoia and cautious nature usually left her ready for combat until her body was at its absolute breaking point and required a rest. This day was no different and her body was reaching the end of its physical limits.

“Sure is a nice day, a shame it has to end soon. The sun will set and we will be plunged into darkness.”
