Training | Ninjutsu | Raiton | Mori no Ikazuchi

Spoiler:

The soft grass was suddenly bent as the weight of a human foot pressed down on it. As he became stationary, Masquerade surveyed his surroundings, taking in the large lake, the numerous rocks jutting out from the ground, and the various trees littering the landscape. Turning his attention to the ground before him, Masquerade closed his eyes and thought over what he had planned for today. He had a jutsu to practice, something he’d been meaning to get done for a while. Raising his hands in front of his chest, the boy first moved them into a pair of handseals, forming each seal slowly and carefully, repeating the sequence over and over again to memorize it perfectly.

After a few minutes of practicing the jutsu’s seals, he executed the seals once more, for real this time. Once the final handseal had been performed, the boy channeled Raiton chakra to his hands and slammed them together. He then slowly pulled his hands apart, and the crackling electricity shaped itself into a long spear of electricity that formed in his hands. Holding it with one hand, Masquerade examined the faintly glowing spear. Gripping it with both hands, he made a few practice jabs and swings with it; it was nothing really remarkable, just simple attacks that an expert could pull off with their eyes closed.

Completing the final jab, Masquerade straightened up and nodded with satisfaction at the spear. His eyes then slid to a nearby boulder. Turning to face it, the boy spread his legs and planted his feet firmly into the ground to stabilize his body’s center of mass. Raising the spear above his head, he took aim at the rock carefully, and then tossed the spear like a javelin at the rock. The spear shot through the air and collided with the rock, bursting into an explosion of electricity. Smiling with satisfaction, Masquerade straightened up and glanced down at his hands once more. He clenched them into fists, causing a small burst of sparks to emit from them momentarily.

Training | Ninjusu | Raiton | Erekiterru no Radar

Spoiler:

He had one more jutsu to practice, and he had to admit it would be a rather useful one to possess if he could master it. One of the fundamentals of being a ninja was knowing how to hide one’s presence. A secluded shinobi was a dangerous shinobi. Therefore, it was not uncommon to find ninja keeping themselves hidden, even in battle, so as to maintain the upper hand. Not knowing opponent’s location was perilous in a battle. However, jutsu could be used to overcome this predicament. Every living being possessed a faint electrical signature within their bodies, one cause of this being the numerous nerve signals being transmitted throughout the human body from the brain. By being able to detect this signature, Masquerade would be able to overcome this problem.

Closing his eyes and spreading his legs, Masquerade formed the handseal for concentration and whispered the name of the jutsu: “Raiton • Erekiterru no Radar.” Keeping his eyes closed, Masquerade began transmitting low voltage waves of electricity from his body. As the waves spread outwards they collided with the various wildlife in the area. As each organism came in contact with the wave, Masquerade was alerted of their location and exact position. It struck him just how many creatures there were hiding around him.

As he smiled at the thought, he felt a sudden weight on his shoulder. Startled, Masquerade’s eyes flew open and he jumped. He saw a bird lifting off into the air with panic. Masquerade calmed down; it had only been a bird. The boy then realized that, even though he had been forming the handseal for the jutsu, he had not been receiving any “signals” when he had jumped in surprise. Clearly, if he moved too much, he would not be able to use this jutsu properly. I’ll have to remember to work on that later, he noted, returning to his practice.

Training | Ninjutsu | Raiton | Kaminari no Deisuku + Rairou no Jutsu

Spoiler:

The street was quiet and empty as the moon shone down from the night sky. That is, it was quiet until a loud pre-pubescent voice ripped through the nighttime air with the single word: “Masquerade!”. The masked blonde turned around to face the speaker, a pre-teen with spiky black hair and red eyes, standing proudly as he pointed triumphantly at the former. Masquerade raised an eyebrow at the boy, slightly confused at this sudden confrontation. He had never laid eyes on this boy before. “Yes, Black-Haired-Boy-I’ve-Never-Met-Before?” he replied indifferently.

The boy grinned and jerked a thumb at himself, apparently pleased with himself. “My name's Kumoi Juudai, and I’m a Genin of Sunagakure no Sato!” he exclaimed, gesturing to the forehead protector wrapped backwards around his head. He pointed once more to Masquerade and announced dramatically into the night: “And I’m here to take you down the Nukenin called “Masquerade”!” He proceeded to reach into one of his ninja pouches and pull out a small book with the words “Bingo Book” heading its front cover. Flicking it open, the boy named Juudai opened to a page and displayed the picture of Masquerade that was printed on it. “That’s you! A C-Rank Nukenin, regarded as “Weak”!”

The boy closed the book and watched Masquerade with the same pride and satisfaction as before. The male Nukenin, however, remained silent and did not give any form of reply to Juudai’s actions. Grinning, Juudai took a battle stance and called out: “Get ready, Masquerade! You’re about to be defeated by The Amazing Kumoi Juudai! I’m gonna capture you and bring you to justice!” With those heroic words having been thrown at his opponent, Juudai lunged at Masquerade with a kunai, aiming to strike down the Nukenin. Masquerade simply sidestepped the boy as the latter landed clumsily onto the floor on his face.

Sighing, Masquerade moved his hands in a sequence of handseals and pointed his palm at the boy. A burst of electricity flowed out of Masquerade’s hand and wrapped itself around the boy, encasing him in a sphere of electricity. The trapped boy winced and gasped with pain as the sphere shocked him slightly every few seconds. Shaking his head, Masquerade looked down at the boy and smiled cruelly. “I may be classed as “Weak” in this Bingo Book of yours, but I’m not so feeble that I’d lose to someone as
weak as you.”

Laughing, Masquerade pulled his hand away from the boy, who collapsed to the ground, defeated. Masquerade bent down and pulled out the Bingo Book from the boy’s ninja pouch. Brandishing it to the beaten Genin, Masquerade rose to his feet and glanced through the volume with interest. “I’ll be taking this off your hands, if you don’t mind,” he remarked, pocketing the book. He looked down at the boy once more, who was panting and wincing from the burn marks on his body. The sissy. “If you want to beat a Nukenin, try doing it once you’ve obtained more strength than a squirrel.”

Turning around, Masquerade walked away from the body, apparently leaving him to lie on the ground with his wounds. However, as he walked, the boy slowly tried to push himself to his feet, wincing and trembling heavily as he did so. “I’m not. Done. Yet,” he gasped through gritted teeth, his voice trembling with pain. Masquerade stopped and sighed once more, his head lowered. “Just give up. You’ll only hurt yourself even more,” he mumbled as his hands rose once more to form a series of handseals. Once the Nukenin had executed the last seal, he turned to face Juudai once more and raised his hand into the air. A one foot wide disk of electricity formed above Masquerade’s upturned hand, floating in mid-air. Without a word of warning, Masquerade swung his arm downwards in the boy’s direction, launching the disk at the latter. The disk collided with the boy and exploded with a burst of electricity, causing Juudai to yell with pain as more burns appeared on his body and drop to the ground once more. Having delivered his parting gift, Masquerade turned away with a steady expression and walked off into the darkness.

“Dammit! Masquerade!” Juudai shouted venomously at the retreating form of Masquerade.

With a start, the Shichibi’s Jinchuuriki pulled himself out his thoughts and glanced down at the Bingo Book in his hand. Frowning, he closed the book and replaced it into his ninja pouch. Perhaps I was a tad bit too harsh with that boy, he wondered.
