| Hello y'all!
Some ages ago, I asked about ranking up a jutsu, you know, the ones with something like "D-S" as their rank. There are a few things I want to suggest, or perhaps ask about.
First of all, if I train technique X from rank D to rank A, is there a way to show that my technique is on a higher level than the average ninja's, who has only trained to rank C?
Second, if I haven't learned a jutsu, and when I'm an S-rank ninja, I attempt to learn it up to S rank. Am I to just undergo an S rank training, or am I to train D rank, then C, then B, then A?
That would be all for the moment. The answers provided may yield more questions, or a satisfied and silenced Zoid. |

| I'm not a mod but I'm assuming the site runs off of the basic rules for that which I pretty much set-up in the before times way back on the site US branched off from. Its assumed you can use the highest rank you're capable of a variable-rank jutsu and any visual effects or the like are usually specified by the jutsu or their simply larger/stronger/etc. basic things that don't break the mechanics of the jutsu. The jutsu SHOULD specify what happens at other ranks though in most cases. As far as training, you training the technique once when you learn or create it and are just assumed to have been working on it ever since to make it stronger. If you advance to a rank that can use a higher letter than you're assumed to know how to use the higher letters of any variable jutsu you have.
Leave it to a mod to clarify for sure but thats the basic idea. I have no clue what you people are running around with these days... |

| -_- Kana, you're a monster. xD
I'm not sure as to the answer of the first question - my take on the situation, is that perhaps it would be a good idea for the techniques to be of the same level as the User, so, a Genin will be able to use the C rank version, whilst a Chuunin will be able to use the B rank version - this would be representative of the skill increase and growth of the character, and as such, I might seek to make it a rule, depending on what other Staff Members think.
For the second one, the answer is - you would train for an S Rank jutsu. The D-S implies growth of skill and the level of technique, so in other words, it means that a Genin isn't able to understand the techniques full power and masters it over time, in a lengthy process. You can compare this to reading a book, perhaps, because if you can already read, you won't start with Children's Stories - excuse the extremely bad example. |

| Hallo, I felt I should jump in here so we have another staffer confirmation.
Chris is right on point in regards to the first part of his statement. Your capability to use a specific level of jutsu depends on your rank. moving forward with this idea, just because you rank up does not mean that your character automatically is capable of using the next level for the jutsu. If we continue using the education reference, when you move from Grade 10 to Grade 11, you don't automatically know all the new material. It takes time to gain the knowledge. This holds true with the jutsu.
In regards to the statement:

I believe that you will only have to write the A and S-Rank pieces. At that level, your character would know the basics behind a move so it would be a somewhat easy transition to A-Rank, however, to perfect the move it would take more time and I believe that if we look at this in practical terms, you would then have to write the S-Rank piece. That is just my opinion from a realistic and pragmatic view.
Hopefully this helps. |
