Training for Shōton no jutsu- Koudo Shouka Shikakejirai

Spoiler:

Aero took a deep breath of the air, allowing it to surge through his body. It was so clean, so pure, that goosebumps riddled his body. This brought a settling smile to his face. He had decided that given his new team and all, he would need to practice some new jutsus to be ready for missions. Since he seemed to be the least up-front fighter in his whole squad, Aero felt that it was necessary to be the support fighter who for the most part operated from the background. That said, he felt the day was perfect for some training.

The jutsu he had in mind would require some open space, space that was very remote. That said, he traveled for a while looking for an isolated piece of land on which to practice. After about an hour of searching, he found the perfect location. It was a plateau with a single tree that harbored an area of shade and was in a relatively hard-to-reach area.

"This should be just fine. I might even be able to camp out here a night or two, just taking in every bit of time I can, resting when I need to. All the fun stuff. Well, better get started. I've got no time to waste, never know when the Raikage is going to send us on a mission!" He said, completely to himself.

His eyes were fixed on the ground as he planted his feet and a look of seriousness fell upon him. He closed his eyes, picturing a proper set of handsigns that would fit this jutsu. They needed to fit elegantly and have a certain flow to them. He rolled his neck three times which gave a few small cracks along the way, meshed his fingers and pushed back to crack them all. He was ready.

As he opened his eyes, he placed his hands together. The starting handsign had to be sheep, it seemed to be the best starting spot for this jutsu. His fingers then quickly snapped into the ox formation, followed by the horse. Lastly, he turned his left hand downward and balled it up, and laid his right hand over it, dog! Then, with a release of the handsigns, Aero slammed his right palm directly on the ground in front of him. He thought he heard the tree branches behind him crackle once or twice very slightly, so turned around to check. Nope, it wasn't the tree. Yet, when he turned back around to check the ground below him, he saw nothing. This he knew, was good.

He felt his lips curl into a smile before he swung he right leg up into the air, and slammed it onto the ground before him. A slight crack in the earth, and the showing of a small white crystal. That was all he saw.

"Dammit! What did I do wrong? It all should have collapsed by now. Hm. Okay! I'll give it another go." He babbled, mostly under his breath as if anyone were around to hear him.

With his eyes wide open this time, he scooted back a few feet. Planted himself firmly again, and took a deep breath. He could feel the chakra surging through his body, ready for it this time. Aero gave a very stiff nod, then clapped his hands together triumphantly.

"Sheep! Ox! Horse! Dog!" he shouted, and with each word he formed the appropriate handsign, confidence building up within him. By the time he shouted for dog, he could feel his chakra had reached a peak. He put all of the energy he could, and passed it down into his right hand this time. A sharp intake of breath, and a swift slam of his palm to the ground. This time, there was no sound and no hint that anything had changed. Aero almost felt defeated, because he had thought there should be some sort of sign that the structure beneath the earth had changed.

That said, Aero turned around to sit in the shade of the tree. He felt quite depleted of chakra already. He figured about a fourth of his usable reserves had been wasted on those two meager attempts. How could he not have succeeded? With all of his knowledge, and all of his past trials, how could this be the thing to defeat him? He sighed.

After about two minutes of waiting, he caught a glimpse of a fat squirrel running across the plateau. He did not think anything had happened, so how was he to know that it would soon plummet into the ground? It dashed, across fearlessly the way squirrels did, and it was headed at Aero from the opposing side of the area. He had assumed it was coming for food. Too bad that it stepped on the trap area. One leap, two leaps, three leaps, and there it was. A loud sound of crackling, and the upchucking of thin pieces of ground and thin white crystals into the air. The land beneath the squirrel had given way, and it was going to fall. It gave a few feeble attempts at escaping to the side, although it was to no avail, it did not have enough power to leap as far as was needed to reach the nearest ledge.

By this time, Aero had bolted to his feet and kicked off the tree. He was soaring forward like a bullet, and as he neared the middle of the trap he grabbed the squirrel by its fat and furry tail, lightly throwing it to the ledge. Aero on the other hand, lacked the aerodynamics to sustain this momentum of his, and began to slowly fall into the pit head first. While not giving but a moments thought, he began to form a set of handsigns, and when he hit the bottom of the trap, his body seemed to slide right through. Almost instantaneously, his body began to emerge from the ground to the left of the pit trap.

As he fully came back to being himself, and not a piece of earth, he gave a nervous scratch at the back of his head.

"Whew! Glad that worked. But! Yes! Yes! Yes! You did it Aero, wooohooo!" he said, now doing a very childlike victory dance in celebration and joy.

Once he was calmed down from his success, Aero looked over into the pit. It appeared to be about ten feet deep and four meters in every direction. A very good sized trap, which could later become a death pit when used with another jutsu from him or his teammates.

"I'll call this one... the Koudo Shouka Shikakejirai. A fitting name, an earth crystallization boobytrap." But, with this he finally began to think that something still seemed off about the technique, it lacked something. A hole with no cover, a pot without a lid. Ah, that was it. Things could get out easily, and that, for Aero at least, was a problem.

Today though, he could not proceed. He was tired, and needed time to regenerate his chakra. He needed food and rest. That said, he turned around and began his descent down the rigorous mountains on his way home, determined to return tomorrow and complete the final component to his new Shōton jutsu.

Training for Shōton no jutsu- Shikakejirai Kahan
Spoiler:

The previous night, Aero had eaten four bowls of Miso soup and slept for about ten hours. By morning, his chakra had replenished and he felt completely good to go. Today, he didn't feel like wearing his robe so simply left in his black tanktop, tight leggings, and his shoes. Without hesitation, he ran upward through the city, ascending to his isolated little plateau. When he arrived, he was astonished to see his own creation from the previous day. It was at this that he gave a smile.

He had made his way to the ledge of the hole, his legs dangling freely inside of the trap. Aero began to gently bite his lip in curiosity, what could he do about covering such a wide space. He could cover it with a slap of earth, which would be efficient, although wouldn't allow for preservation, not to mention the enemy could then begin doing other things beneath.

He decided that since it was a Shōton jutsu, he must finish it with another Shōton technique. That said, he closed his eyes, yet again thinking of another effective set of handsigns, and an appropriate crystal formation to accompany it.

He could see the logic in just impaling them in the trap with a spiked lid, but that'd be too harsh especially if he was trying to conserve his chakra. So, it would be a flat cover. It couldn't be the same frail crystals that he used to set the trap, it had to be more durable. He could use a ruby seal, but that was too much. Jade was an easily produced crystal, and would work just fine for trapping people inside.

Now it came down to the handsigns... Once again, Aero desired something elegant and quick. Boar, for its strength.. Monkey, because that's what he would cage... Sheep... because he liked it.

It was settled, he had what he wanted and he had the handsigns he desired to use. He hopped up from the ledge of the trap, and did he finger and neck cracking again. This would be an easier jutsu for him because everything was already in place and it was just a simple layer of jade that would be applied.

He balled up his hands, turned them upside down and began his jutsu.

"Boar! Monkey! Sheep! And just like last time, he formed each seal with each appropriate word.

Aero watched as a layer of Jade crystal formed over the top of the hole in the ground. It appeared to be a minimum of six inches thick, and was oddly clear in the end. As he took several steps, standing now above the jade, he looked down to see that the walls of the ground, inside the hole, were also slightly coated with jade. The walls were only about an inch and a half thick, which was nothing compared to the covering.

He wondered just how strong the surface jade was though, and so, gave a strong punch directly downward. Although there was no focused chakra in his hand, and no repetitive punches, there seemed to be only a slightly cracked dent in the surface.

It was an easier day than the previous day had been, that's for sure. And with his satisfaction, Aero spent the rest of the day covering the jade with the surrounding dirt and remnant pieces of grass, then he set off for home once again- ready with his new jutsus to be used for combat.
