| As much as I hate topics where one posts an idea, but has little to contribute himself, I think myself along some members - I think that we - are getting increasingly interested in seeing a new theme. I know that our very own lovely and talented Lauren was supposedly working so some super secret project, in regards to a new layout, but seeing as it has yet to arrive, I'm eager to push the Staff to produce an alternative. After all, our current layout has been present for a number of months now. As much as we all love new banners, surely these gloomy grays are asking for a change? I definitely for one, think a new colour palette is in order.
And I will repeat myself - 'As much as I hate...'. As much as I hate to say this, I actually like Revoultion's usage of the blacky gray. I know we are a much warmer and cheerful community, hence perhaps darkness doesn't suit us at all. Still it would definitely be nice if the Staff could experiment with colours and what nots, to see if they can achieve a better 'look'. What does everyone think? |

| There are alternative ways to get the similar effects of a darker theme without using gloomy colors. Something I usually use is a simple gradient for the background. It makes the colors you want to pop, and it can easily be altered without having to change the entire theme, that is if you don't want to change everything. I think the trick to an appealing layout is focusing on two colors - a main color, and a color that compliments it well. I'm by no means suggesting you make everything bland by focusing on one or two colors for the hue and saturation; feel free to use some other colors too, but just don't add too many colors. As for post and box colors, it's usually a good idea to stick to grays and lighter alternatives of darker colors, as it is right now. I personally have trouble reading text against all white or all black, so I usually try to find a happy medium. There are a lot of things to take into mind when creating a layout...
With all that said, I think we should be patient with Lauren. She's an outstanding graphic designer and she clearly knows what she's doing, considering how clean and organized everything is here. And if it is a matter of being too overwhelmed or busy with real life, I would gladly offer my assistance in any way I can. You have to keep in mind that this isn't our job, but something we volunteer to do in our spare time. Therefore, it's not always going to be at the top of everyone's priority list, especially when it comes to real life stuff. .x. |

Thank the heavens you've said that, Megan. I was beginning to think all of the members view the Staff as slaves working for the forum. Some faith in humanity has been restored! Back to the topic, as stated before, Lauren is currently working on a theme and we'll all remain patient while she works hard on it, after all, you can't rush art. For now, this topic is deemed; Solved. |
