| Arnea: - Spoiler:
Behind enemy lines. Thats where they were, or, Hanikaro should say, he was. A full-scale, three way war had broken out between Konoha, Kiriagakure, and Sunagakure. And, due to its location as something of a midpoint between the three countries, The land of fire had been selected as the frontline. So here they were, team two of Sunagakure, fighting for their lives. They had split up not five minutes ago, the genin sent scouting, Kakougan going after enemy shinobi in a diversionary assault. They were told that any enemy shinobi they encountered that they were to engage if they had the advantage they were to engage. This was war after all. So here he was, deep within the Land of Fire. All of his senses were on full alert, searching for any sign of the enemy. His clothing was worn, and dirtied from days of travel and sleeping on the road. He had arrived at a clearing, where he checked the time. Judging by the sun's position in the sky, they had roughly an hour left before they were supposed to rendezvous back by a river. It was then that he heard a sound, coming from the nearby underbrush. He pivoted, grabbing a kunai from his pouch, ready for the enemy.

| Saya's presense is rarely a secret to those she intends to fight. The soft jingling of her plated cloak announced her like bells on the wind when ever she moved. She steps out of the shadows beneath a low laying tree, having been resting in it's shade on watch. The fact that the other ninja stopped made her happy, so she walked forward with little hesitation.
"Halt. This passage is under the protection of Kirigakure, and none shall pass through it today." She says loudly, easily heard from behind her mask. She stops a ways from the stranger and levels her Yari at him. The slender spear was almost 7 feet long, taller than the girl wielding it. Saya herself was something to behold, little more than her cloak and helmet. The black cloak concealed most of her features, if it were not held open to present her long spear. In the same voice she continues, issuing her warning with obvious intent to back it up. "Turn back down, or I will be forced to destroy you."
Saya advances no further, offering her quarry an honorable chance to abandon their mission and avoid harm. Her hands squeeze the long bamboo handle of her spear tighter, her grin growing behind her mask. Oh how she hoped he would not run away. Oh how she hoped he would heed the call to battle. Either way, Saya would allow him the choice of leaving, or engaging. |

| Hanikaro gazed up, a passive expression taking over his features as he gazed up at the new arrival. Her reason for being here was obvious enough- she had made it quite clear. Though she was well covered by a lengthy, black cloak, Hanikaro had heard the distinct jingle of heavy metallic armor- meaning that most ordinary thrown weaponry wouldn't have much purpose here- though the prescence of armor was a curiousity in an of itself- She seemed to be from kiriagakure, but was she even a shinobi? He'd heard of samurai before, but never from Kiriagakure... Well no matter the case, he had two options- flee, or fight.
He began analyzing what he could. He recollected the sound of her voice- from it, he figured she was roughly around the same age as himself- most likely another genin then, if she were a shinobi at all. That jingle of armor meant she would be slower on her feet than Hanikaro- an advantage he would have to exploit if a fight were to break out. Unfortunately, due to that damnably disguising cloak and helmet, there was little else he could determine just from looking at her- other than the 7 foot polearm she held with expert ease. So, she was another weapons user. It was probably unwise to have revealed that to Hanikaro so readily, but he wouldn't let that show on his face. Finally, after he had gathered what he could from her appearance, he called back "Interesting. In that case, I'll have to claim it for Sunagakure... I don't suppose you'd feel like retreating, so I won't ask." He had a mission to do- and this was a delay he couldn't afford. He would have to take care of her quickly. Weaving his handsigns rapidly, he placed his hands on the ground, and let his jutsu begin to take effect. In this particular case, all that armor would be this poor woman's downfall. She wouldn't notice the effects of his jutsu until it was too late. Roots burst forth from the ground underneath her feet, and shot towards her ankles, making no noise in the process. Because of all the defensive equipment she wore, she wouldn't feel the first stage of his jutsu- wouldn't even notice, until much larger roots burst forth from the ground, shooting up towards her legs, and arms, roots that would quickly ensnare her completely- and with all that armor, it was unlikely she could move out of the way in time. Because of her Yari, there was no way she would be able to fall into handsigns quickly enough to escape either. After she was trapped, this would be a quick and easy victory for Hanikaro.

Name: Entangling Roots Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu Element: wood Description: The user weaves handsigns, and then slams his hands on the ground. Around the enemy, enormous tree roots will spring from the ground, wrapping around them and preventing them from movement. These roots are quite large, and can stop an opponent from even doing small movement if entagled completely. They will wrap around his or her ankles first, with quick, smaller but tight roots, then envelop them in much larger ones after they are caught.

| Roots and vines, jutsu and handseals, all of them only meant one thing to Saya: Fight. While some warriors might prefer the thrill of closing the distance on their vicitim and roaring with fury, Saya has a more simple approach to entering combat from any range. As Hanikaro forces his hands against the ground, Saya forces all of her chakra down into her feet. She digs her toes in and pushes down hard, leaping forward with blinding speed.
In an instant she's gone from her initial spot, replaced only with a small cloud of dust and smoke. Her shunshin jutsu teleports her across the small battlefield in the blink of an eye, depositing her, cloak and all, behind her opponent. With his hands on the ground, and hunched over, his defenses would be unfortunately minimal. Saya growls with fury as she powers her spear forward, driving the razor sharp blade forward and into her opponent's back.
She still wouldn't know what jutsu he was using, the effects of it having remained unseen. Coincidence alone saw her dodge the attack, as standing far away is pointless, when all you want to do is stab someone.
- Spoiler:
Name: Shunshin no Jutsu Rank: D-S Type: Ninjutsu Element: N/A Description: This jutsu is a high-speed movement technique, allowing a ninja to move short to long distances at an almost untraceable speed. To an observer, it appears as if the user has teleported. A puff of smoke is occasionally used to disguise the user's movements. It is accomplished by using chakra to temporarily boost the user's reflexes. The amount of chakra required depends on the overall distance between the user and their intended destination.
Name: Armor Piercing Thrust Type: Weaponry[Shojutsu] Rank: C-S Element: None Description: By putting all their effort into a single attack, those with a spear can drive the strong point through all manner of armor. This attack is all but impossible to block, due to the force of the strike, however is capable of forcing the end of the spear through even metal plateing. | Hanikaro frowned as he realized his roots missed, however, that frown widened with horror, as he realized the only place his opponent could be- just as he heard the start of a low growl "Oh SHIT" he yells, swiveling to the side, and backward, as fast as he could, weaving handsigns as he did so- to have a seven foot long yari graze heavily across his midesection- the sharp blade slicing through his cloth clothing easily, and slicing decently at the skin under- cutting a full half inch into him. Hanikaro winced, gritting his teeth agains the pain, but realizing just how fortunate he was to have avoided being impaled through the back- still it stung. Fortunately, he had the presence of mind to follow through with his attack- realizing that these precious few miliseconds were all he would have. He finished the sequence as the spear rushed by, and, laying one hand on the spear, and gripping the laquer shaft as tightly as he could, he held his other hand up, letting a spear of wood burst forth with dazzling speed. The spear shot forward from his extended palm, straight for Saya's stomach. At this range- a mere four feet, it was borderline impossible to dodge such a fast moving weapon- especially with the weighted clothing she wore- and the spear had the penatrative power to pierce through that clothing, especially at this range: with its speed it would dig several inches deep into her midriff, damaging her vital organs irreparably, and putting her out of commission- permanantly.
- Spoiler:
Name: Mokuton: Yari Sousaku no Jutsu [Wood Release: Spear Form Technique] Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu Element: Wood Description: The user opens both of his palms and two large spears of wood come from each one. Each of these spears has a conical structure, and can extend up to a maximum of 12 feet. The tips are very sharp, capable of easily piercing through shinobi clothing or even armor, and the flesh and bone beneath. These are attached to the users palms. After they have served their purpose, the user can detach them at will.

| Saya grits her teeth, savoring the first sight of her opponent's blood. This might not take long. She narrows her eyes considerably at her oppnent's speed, though remains unsurprised. Ninja were renowned for their speed, and dodging her attacks while she is so encumbered isn't very hard as when she's free. Saya's would have leapt back, has she the time.
Unfortunatly Hanikaro's wooden tipped spear was just as fast and suprising as her own had been. She twists in a suprisingly similiar manner to her opponent, having over extended her thrust for the extra power. The wooden spear finds the front of her cloak wide open and the spear manages to catch her body. She's cut, but not deep, her all over metal protecting aiding in dampening the blow of the wood. The wood cuts through the padded cloth robes and reveal the fine chain armor beneath it. A long gash, and tear in the fine links, follows along with the sharp edge of the wooden beam, and across her left side Saya's own blood begins to flow.
Glorious battle indeed! Saya's spirit soars as a worthy fight has finally begun. She growls louder, landing completely off balance, but unafraid. She wheels around in one fluid motion, moving with amazing speed for someone so encumbered. She grips her spear with both hands and swinging it like some sharpened seven foot long club. Her accuracy could have suffered from her lack of footing, but her attack made use of her lack of balance. She flails around in a wild and fast circle, swinging the blade the full way around. If Hanikaro remained too close to her, he'd certainly be struck by the attack.
- Spoiler:
With her Swift Spear Jutsu and cloak, she'd be moving 5% faster than normaly, as opposed to being slowed down by her cloak. Name: Swift Spear Rank: E-S Type: Weaponry Element: None Description: This jutsu makes the Ashigaru faster when using their weaponry. By expending an amount of chakra, the shinobi is pushes it out into their muscles and joints to make them more flexible and faster. A shinobi will find themselves 5% faster per rank of chakra expended. This increase lasts for two posts before it fades, with no lasting side effects. (E-5%, D-10%, C-15%, B-20%, A-25%, S-30%)
Name: Sweeping Slash Type: Weaponry[Shojutsu] Rank: D-A Element: None Description: With a spear, the attacker twists their body in a single circle, sweeping her long spear in a wide circle. This attack is a little slow, but attacks in a full circle, striking everyone within range of the attacker. This spear technique has a conciderable reach and strikes with power if it hits, however it is slow enough to be dodged by almost any talented combatant. The higher rank the attack, the more power is put into the attack. While it remains easy to dodge at higher level, those who do get struck by will find themselves against crushing momentum and force. Even blocking this attack can push an enemy back several feet. This technique requires about half the chakra of a normal jutsu of it's rank to put power into the attack.

| Hanikaro had been caught of guard by his opponents speed once. A second time? Never. As soon as he had realized his assault had failled, he broke his spear off, leaping into a backhandspring, easily clearing the wide, sweeping strike in time due to his quick reflexxes. He did another handspring, then landed on his feet, skidding back only a little on the gras beneath him. He had to get some distance between himself and this warrior woman. They stood about 15 apart now, and she was still recoiling from her overly-wide, off balance swing. That gave Hanikaro a little time: it was time to bring in some help- and he could think of none better to deal with such a weapon wielding foe than his friend Barkfist.
Swiping a finger across his wound, he quickly wove the handsigns for his jutsu, then slammed his hand down on the grass beneath. The classic summoning seal appeared, and a cloud of smoke poofed into the air. As the cloud dispersed, Hanikaro took the time to retreat a few steps further. She was fast- and he would need to have time to react in order to escape that damnable spear of hers. Beside him stood his new summon. The tree spirit towered at 6 foot 8 inches, and was quite a sight to behold. His entire body appeared to be a living tree: his skin was completely bark, including his lips. He had a tuft of light green foilage sticking out from branches for hair. Two limbs hung at his side, with 5 branches extending from each of the creating hands. Where his legs should have been, only a series of thick tree roots remained- roots that allowed him to move stunningly fast- as fast as Hanikaro himself, and certainly as fast as his encumbered opponent. His eyes were pupiless, and completely green. He wore a necklace with a seashell hanging from it. He had recognized the nature of the summons, and stood ready to burst into battle. At a nod from Hanikaro, He charged forth, toward the off-balanced Saya.
Hanikaro stood back, watching his summon move forward at astounding speeds given the roots he had with which to move himself. He had to find an opening, and then hit it hard. Barkfist would provide more than ample distraction- Saya would be hard pressed dealing with the enormous power of his strikes- power which belied the somewhat skinny tree-limbs he had for arms- each blow could crack ribs, no matter what pesky suit of mail Saya wore. And that was the beginning of the ent's abilities. Once Saya was preoccupied, Hanikaro would find an oppurtunity to strike, and end this distraction. For the time being, he examined his wound. It stung, but was superficial: even the blood loss wouldn't be bad- it wouldn't have a very noticeable effect on his fighting abilities, other than the painful annoyance that it was.
He made sure to watch Saya closely, prepared for anything, another shinshuin, or even a ranged weapon. However, it was unlikely that against a competent opponent like Hanikaro's summon, she would be able to charge Hanikaro head on- such a mistake would mean death from behind. Barkfist pressed the attack, closing the range, and pulling his arm back for a mighty punch that would crush bone, even through Saya's armor. |

| Saya lands on her back after she's done spinning around, the rather wild attacking doing what it did well enough. It forced her opponent back and gave her time to recover. She didn't even notice the cut on her side, though her blood flowed readily. Minor though the injury was, even if it had run her through completely she'd still be on her feet fighting. It'd take a good five or ten minutes to die from such a wound, and pain doesn't slow Saya down at all. A moment after landing she's rolling over and forcing herself to her feet, watching the small tree instantly appear and charge towards her.
She leans back on her feet, backing away from her new enemy as she assesses it. No doubt an ax would be the weapon of choice here, but her yari was sharp and strong. She could hack at it if she needed too. She begins to back away, keeping the large beast at bey with her Yari. She parries it's large arms right and left, using the blade, butt, and shaft of her weapon all to equal use. Watching her move, inspite of her cloak, she is fluid and graceful. The tree doesn't seem to compair in speed, though it has her beat on strength. She pulls the beast backwards, forcing it to follow or disengage from her. If it disengages, Saya will become a threat once more. While she manages to fend it off, and remain on the defensive, the beast keeps her occupied.
Behind he mask Saya grits her teeth, focusing on the ent to keep it away from her. Only the length of her weapon gives her the few opportunities to glance at her opponent and keep half an eye on him. She figured he'd be doing some hand signs again, maybe what he did the first time. If so, she has plans for him.. |

| Hanikaro watched carefully, noting Saya's fluid movements. She was good- annoyingly good with that polearm of hers. With sheer melee attacks alone, Barkfist was making no progress against her defenses. Eventually he would wear her out, as would that wound on her side. Hanikaro thought intervening personally, however, despite her superior speed to the treant, Barkfist did seem to have the situation well in hand- She wasn't dealing any real damage with her minor, light blows that she was being forced to use in order to keep the treant at bay. Furthermore, her wound was far more severe than his- blood was gushing down her side. However, it had noticeably no effect on her fighting level- she seemed to not have even noticed she was injured. However, at this point, Hanikaro realized that she had no ninjutsu to speak of it appeared- which meant that at a range it was relatively safe- and once you figured out the fighting style she used up close, it wasn't that hard to evade her strikes- that didn't mean she didn't have other weaponry though- with that cloak she could be hiding a number of additional weapons, scrolls, who knows what. He had to be prepared. Nevertheless, Barkfist was more than amply stalling her, and the heavy blood loss would begin to take its toll- it was only a matter of time until even a stout warrior such as this collapsed from it. This may take longer than he had anticipated, but in the end, the result would be the same as he had anticipated. He backed himself up a bit more, until his back was against a tree- roughly 30 feet away from Saya and Barkfist, in case he needed to make a hasty get away-- he would simply meld into the tree- invulnerable to any assaults Saya could perform. He watched, as Barkfist continued to press the assault, pushing her further and further back with the heavy blows she continued to dance around. |

| Saya boils with fury. The illusory defense was functioning perfectly, giving her ample time to create more room to fight. The key to defeating two people, was to fight them one on one. While Hanikaro had only been grazed by her first attack, he still had little idea how truly fast Saya was. Unfortunately, he was about to find out. Pulling further and further back she draws Barkfist well away from the Senju, measuring out the distance with constant glances to the other ninja. She was much faster than the tree, and could reasonably have 5 or 6 seconds of free time with Hanikaro. Death only takes a second.
Saya pulls away untill she's almost 70 feet away from Hanikaro before she begins what she hopes is the final assault of this fight. With any luck the tree would vanish when the Senju died. The extra distance would only help her upcoming physical illusion. After her shunshin jutsu she'd be right behind her opponent once more, and ready to finish this fight.
With little warning saya pops a small smoke bomb out from within the confines of her cloak, enveloping herself and the tree in a thick cloud of purple. With the distraction Saya is able to leap back, and unfasten the single buckle keeping the cloak mostly secured. Removing her cloak is an easy affair, as wearing it at all is a task. The blade of her Yari strikes the earth beneath her, as she takes her cloak off, and flees from the battlefield.
What remains when the smoke disappears seems to be Saya. It stands just the right hight if she was crouched slightly. Beyond the thick leather and strong metal plates, there's never been any shape or definition, and the same remains now. Her helmet and cloak all remain, plated by metal and begging to be attacking.
In reality, Saya left her cloak behind. Without it's great weight she could move with her true speed, and she used her Shunshin jutsu to teleport to near by trees. Feeling lighter than air itself, Saya leaps from branch to branch quietly as can be, and maneuvers her way behind Hanikaro to strike. While Saya did not have jutsu to speak of, she did have cunning, and a deadly sword. Saya drops to the ground a few trees behind Hanikaro and begins to sneak up on his backside. Reaching around the tree with a sword should put an end to this..
- Spoiler:
Due to removing her heavy cloak, Saya is currently moving 35% faster than a well trained shinobi should be, making her 45% faster than she'd been previously. Saya is, in reality, very very fast. Without her cloak to rattle and shake, she is also just as stealthy as other ninja are. She'll be able to get behind pretty quick, with assistance of her Shunshin.
Counting this Shunshin as a C ranked jutsu puts Saya up to 5 C ranked jutsu used so far, and puts her all the closer.
Name: Shunshin no Jutsu Rank: D-S Type: Ninjutsu Element: N/A Description: This jutsu is a high-speed movement technique, allowing a ninja to move short to long distances at an almost untraceable speed. Name: Saya's Cloak of Immortals Rank: C Type: Armor Description: This is a sturdy leather cloak that Saya thought up, and had her clan's metal workers fashion for her. It concists of a sturdy cloak made of soft, supple leather. The leather has been dyed black and is studded with a thousand small square plates. The plates are each only an inch of so lond and are riveted to the leather, leaving only enough space between them to allow for some flexibility of the fabric. Due to the flowing properties of the cloak, and the covering of strong metal plates make it very hard to punch through the cloak to get to Saya beneath it. The cloak is able to cover her whole body, and it's one peice construction leaves few weak spots. While it does provide a great amount of protection to all sides, it is also quite heavy. The amount of metal used to cover the cloak makes it weight about 60 pounds in total. Destributed evenly, it still slows her down some. Natural Abilities: This cloak does not grant imortality! It's just a dramatic name! The protection this cloak comes with has a cost and an advantage. It's great bulk and weight make it hard to get a sharp weapon through but it also slows her down by 10%. However, the cloak is easy to remove, and doing so quickly frees her from the weight. After casting off the cloak she will recieve a 20% speed boost for the next post. On the second and third post, this speed increase reduces to 10%, then on the fourth post the lack of weight has become less of a factor and the speed boost fades to unnoticeable levels for the rest of the fight. The cloak can be put back on afterwards for added armor, however the cloak must be worn consistently for at least an hour before the benefits of removing the weights becomes helpful again.

| Barkfist was holding Saya at bay quite nicely- and blood continued to gush from the wound she seemed to be ignoring. However, after his treant had pushed her back over the grassy field roughly 70 feet, she completely dissapeared from site- probaby using the same old trick, the body flicker technique. But this time, however. she had hidden herself damnably well- Hanikaro couldn't tell where she had went. Pherhaps retreating to tend to her wounds? But that didn't seem to be this Amazonian woman's style- she didn't seem like the kind to retreat. Which meant that it was more than likely she was trying to go after him, rather than the more resilent treant. Hanikaro was no fool- he couldn't detect her at the moment, and he wasn't about to be caught off guard by her speed- again. A defensive strategy was the obvious choice- if necessary he would win through attrition alone. Besides, Barkfist was fully capable of handling a mere weapons user one v one. Weaving a single handsign, Hanikaro channeled his wood nature chakra, and then simply fell back- fell back INTO the tree he was leaning on. To an onlooker, it would seem he simply dissapeared, the motion was so quick, it would seem as if he had never existed in the first place. And even if Saya had been watching his every move, and had realized what he had done, there was nothing a weapons wielder like herself could do about it. The tree he had stepped inside was quite large- nearly seven feet across, and well over 40 feet high. He shot up through the wood as if he was swimming from the bottom of a pool- minus the pressure and lack of breath. He swam up like this about 20 feet into the tree and- very cautiously, poked his head out, looking down, and around, seeing Saya poised to strike at what she probably thought was still Hanikaro's backside. Being careful not to make a sound, he caught Barkfists eye, and reached a hand out of the tree, pointing down ever so slightly, making sure to escape the notice of Saya- who was still approaching the tree. Barkfist nodded his understanding- and then dug his roots into the ground- a barely noticeable action, given how his legs were roots themselves. As Hanikaro slipped back into the tree- and Saya came ever nearer the tree which she believe Hanikaro was around- he noticed that she was no longer wearing her cloak- that must have been the reason she was able to be so quiet as she approached with her katana.
Meanwhile, Barkfists roots tunneled deep under the ground, heading steadily towards the tree. The roots dug with surprising speed through the earth, and were laying in wait underneath the tree, ready to spring up at a moments notice- with that done, they would shoot up from underneath Saya, instantly ensnaring her legs, and then tugging her under the earth in a very similar fashion to an earth style jutsu. But in this case, it was almost impossible to tell what the treant was doing. Meanwhile, Hanikaro swam down the tree, towards the base of the tree, until he figured he was 10 feet above the ground. From this height, he could leap out atop Saya completely silently, and finally end this fight- assuming Barkfist didn't end it for him.

They do not actualyl become a part of the tree, but rather move through it, in a similar fashion to the earth style technique. this technique is excellent for hiding from opponents, and launching surprise attacks from a wide variety of angles. If the tree he is within is damaged, as ong as he is not within the scetor that was damaged, it will have no effect on him. If the tree is destroyed, and the part he is within is not destroyed, he can still move through it unharmed. He can travel up and down the tree, and larger branches, or from tree to tree if they are close enough to jump from one to the other. If the part he is within is damaged, and the attack has enough penetrative force to reach the very center of the tree, then he will feel the impact as if it were mitigated from going through the tree. If the tree is utterly annihilated, and he does not escape in time, he will die.

You dodged suprise attacks while also forming hand seals. you stopped bleeding after TWO damn seconds, and yet post over and over how MY character is bleeding out and dying. Your treent is supposedly as good at weapons combat as I am, has a shit ton of jutsu, AND is immune to weapon an taijutsu damage? Yeah, the scales are way tipped in this fight, and it's just stupid. Go learn how to play fair, and we can continue this, but I'm going going to sit here and post back and forth with someone who's in God Mode. Have a nice night. I'm done here.) |

I hardly think I'm the one in god mode. Also, while crouching, attempting to shank a crouching figure in the back after a body flicker which I watched, thats not at all unreasonable to dodge- especially given that you did basically the exact same thing not a post later. I simply using my character to his fullest- if you find that dodge unreasonable, take it up with another staffer.)) |

| (OOC: Jsalos, you're a Staff member, and you are NOT supposed to go after people personal like that, it is a degrading act that reflects badly on the Staff as a whole. If you want to discuss things, discuss them, but your not to bicker with members no matter what they say against you. This is locked from further posting, resolve your problems elsewhere in a mature fashion and when you have this will be unlocked again.) |
