| Well, I've been looking through some topics here and I noticed that several times it has been stated that there is a lack of staff here and that is why certain things (application checking, topic evaluation, etc.) has been taking so long. So I just thought that I'd suggest something. Why not have people Apply to become Mods? I saw it done on another site and IMO it worked flawlessly, simply put out an announcement with a template similar to this one
- Code:
-
[b]Name:[/b] [b]Preferred section to moderate: [/b] (Apps, General Discussion, Eval., Advertisment, Forum Assistance.) [b]Why we should choose you:[/b]
Or something along those lines and simply have the applicant PM his app to one of the Admin's or current staff. It just seems to me like there are a ton of people that seem really dedicated and could do good work as mods. But again, it's just a suggestion. |

| We did this a month ago, and we gained a new staff member. The problem isn't the lack of staff, it's the fact that we are occupied with real life problems. Such as exams, graduation, moving, illness, and the like. Not all of us have as much time as others, and we're not paid to do this either. No one would really benefit from more moderators. We already have enough.

| The whole 'lack of staff' argument that's been thrown around recently is actually just a short phase right now. Many of our staff members are starting, in the middle of or ending their exams and we of course all understand the importance of these exams. That is why we allow the team to take a break from the forum from time to time, so they're able to focus on real life matters rather than use up their free time with forum work. Like I said though, this is all just a short phase. We'll all eventually be back to our regular activity and in fact some of us will have increased in activity with the summer holidays drawing closer. So you need not worry about the 'lack of staff' we currently have. As for your idea, we already actually go out about Staff sign ups. In fact, we had recently ended one with the success of Tyden being awarded a Moderator position. We only ever hold these sign ups once every so often and typically when we're in need of a few extra hands, however, that does not mean we're still not watching our members to become future Mods. We're constantly looking at the potential that some of the members have, the attitude, skills and abilities they carry. That's why we pick up extra Staff Members unannounced at times. Damnit Enzo, you lil ninja! D< |
