Why no second characters?

While the debate of 'multiple characters' vs 'just one' is one that any respectable site wrestles with at some point, I am personally curious why U.S. has chosen to for now only allow one character per person? Very simple question. And for those wishing to voice opinions, should we be allowed more characters? And if so, why so?

I personally think that after a certain amount of time, an individual should be allowed to make another character, even if it's just two, roleplaying the same angle for a long period of time can be boring. Sometimes I wouldn't mind having a Yin to my Yang so that one day im RPing a harden criminal and the next im a heroic understudy. It's just nice freedom of variety, in my opinion.

Also, I agree with Enzo. People aren't super active at the moment (probably because of Exams and holidays), and giving them more characters and thus more things to do, will most likely worsen activity.

You know, if I had a secondary character I might not have burnt out so quick..... but as Flash will tell you now you have to practically crush my nuts to get me to post because I am just soooo burnt out.

If said person has proven consistent activity with the first character, I personally don't see why not.
