| Water Dog Shaking Technique...
The majority of Genryu's techniques come as a result of things he had seen in the past or around him, and so while he was considering a particular weakness of his, water, he would only surprise and inspired as he watched a dog walk swim about in a pond and then climb out. The dog was noticeably wet; I mean it was swimming after all right? But then the dog just shook! Water went everywhere and then it was more or less dry. It was so efficient! He didn't need to be wet when water was his greatest weakness and so why not attempt to imitate it! At first Genryu tried a chakra infused body shake, literally shaking his body quickly. All that managed to do was make him feel stupid and rattle his brain about inside of his skull. After potentially causing himself minor brain hemorrhaging, he tried it with Katon. Not thinking that water would work by heating it, it actually worked rather well. Like dropping water on a hot stove, the katon evaporated away normal water from his clothes and body without burning himself of his clothes! After a few attempts, jumping in and out of the water to try it, he figured it master, and though simple, It was a reasonable and simple jutsu for his repertoire.

| Kasumi Enbu no Jutsu - Mist Waltz Technique...
While learning the “water dog shaking technique” as Genryu with all his originality named it, he began to consider other alternatives to combat his water foe. While he pondered he came to a staunching number of realizations. There were techniques within the fire category that manipulated fire chakra, or katon, into other forms before they were burned, much like BlackPowder that he had held so much pride in. A common technique that he was aware that many people knew was known as the “Mist Waltz Technique” which created a flammable gas like vapor which would itself ignite into fire. Why he had never bothered to master it himself was questionable however with his knowledge of BlackPowder it would most likely be simple and easy like the “water dog shaking”. Luckily because this technique, like many other common katon techniques, was easy to well known, the scroll to its instruction wasn’t too hard to find in mass. The Kuromatsu, an all fire clan, would have three or four such instruction scrolls, and he would discover that with a few hand signs and chakra element shaping he could pull it off. The trick was to not generate fire in the lungs, but rather, to imbue the air In the lungs with katon so that it would burn. The lungs were filled with many different gasses, but many of them would be the wet liquid mucus membrane that made up the lining of the lungs itself (after all its not dry bones in there! It’s well hyrdrated!) The result was a vapor like gas mist laced with katon and waiting to turn to fire. It was elegantly simply, and thanks to his BlackPowder expertise, he quickly picked up the technique with little to no difficulty at all.

| Bed of Hot Coals...
There was something of a festival to old pagan beliefs that were held in which many trials of ones manhood could be determined through overcoming feats of mental and physical pain! One of which was the running on fire, or in this case, hot coals. The individuals would walk bare foot on rugged surfaces for months to build the skin of their feet so that they could walk over hot coals and thus symbolize the change from childhood to adult hood as they walked! It was a fun festival activity to watch, especially for his more sadistic side. However, as he watched, there was a spark of an idea brewing. This was essentially heating the earth with fire and making people walk on it! It was in a safe controlled environment, but what if say, it weren't so safe, and say, Katon were involved! He had never thought of using another object as a medium for fire before, let alone the ground itself, but it made sense that the could heat the surface of the earth like a frying pan, not necessarily controlling the land itself, but just using Katon to heat it up! It would certainly be uncomfortable for anyone who attempted to run across it... what a maniacal and simple thought, and it could serve as the basis for other techniques as well!
That same night, Genryu experimented with this idea. Running Katon along the ground and searing the earth on the surface to make it extremely hot. It was in fact, incredible easy, as if one was shooting a controlled fireball into the ground; wasn't meant to destroy, but rather, turn the surface of the earth into an oven! It was hot for him even. While it took time for him to adjust the hand signs and chakra control, within a few days of experimenting, he was able to harness the idea of running on a bed of coals, into a technique that would leave his opponents wishing they had packed an extra water bottle.
