| Some ideas to make the Forum a more confusing and treacherous place. Yay!
Nobility The idea that some Clans or Families have a special Status in a Village. For example, the word of an Uchiha is more valued than that of anyone else (of the same or even higher rank!). This means that certain Characters can enjoy an extra dose of Pride and Arrogance. This would lead to 'interesting Roleplaying situations'. Also, different Noble Families could be hostile towards each other, so that for example, a Nara and an Uchiha hate each other almost-naturally, regardless if two such characters ever met before. The simple notion of family, would create distrust and dislike among various Characters, which would spice up our world.
Inter-Clan Relations On a similar idea, Clans have various policies in regards to other Families. As mentioned, the Nara could hate the Uchiha, so their members would dislike each other automatically. However this could also reflect Village-Village relationships. For example, Shinobi could value the family over the village, so Akimichi from Kumo could be friendly/loyal to the Akimichi from Konoha. If a war started, then in the least, the Akimichi wouldn't fight each other. Maybe, they could even betray their village!
Also, Clan Heads and hierarchies could be developed, so that we get a sense of Power among the Characters. It's quite often that you hear individuals claiming that they are Heads of Clans, or that they are the next in line. But having an actual list, would make this so much more accurate and interesting, because, for example, a Second-In-Line would have a motive to take down the the Heir of the Family - the Heir would want to kill the Head. Not necessarily, but it would be possible. And also, if a Head of the Family is in another village, it could be more likely that the Clan Members in another Village are in fact loyal to him and his Village, making them potential spies and traitors.
Money/Influence Again same theme, but not quite. Characters would have a sense of Power about them, with Influence over each other that would mean, that they could organize e.g. a Coup d'etat. Influence and Money would also perhaps determine the amount of personnel the Character possibly commands. If we wanted to get a little more intricate in regards to Villages, we could determine Numbers of Shinobi and the Money available. Then for example, a character from a Clan could add to that pool of Money and Soldiers, so then it would be valuable to have certain characters be loyal more so than others.

| Nobility; this already seems to exist, people already have reactions such as "An Uchiha?! OH SNAP!" Perhaps a bit exaggerated, but yes, people already identify themselves and others by their clan name and thus it wouldn't be anything new. Having characters have a greater say in the village based on their clan would most likely be a no. People are given authority based on basic subjects such as power they offer to their village and loyalty they offer to their Kage. Just because you're an Uchiha doesn't mean you'd have a better opinion compared to someone from the Nara, you seem to be running under the assumption that everyone who belongs to one of the clans carry all the powers and traits they posses, yet we have a blind Uchiha on the site. So to reiterate my point, it's not exactly something new to have a reaction to someone's last name, it's happened before and I'm sure it still happens now. Inter-Clan Relations; I personally find it odd in the first place that we have different clans in different villages, considering in Naruto we only ever saw say a Byakugan belong to a Kiri shinobi because they fought for the eye in combat and not because a Hyuuga simply "moved there". It seemed that clans remained loyal to their village rather than scatter themselves around. But considering it'd be very much so limiting in terms of village choice towards people choosing certain clans, I wouldn't exactly bring it up as an issue. On to your point though, a ninja is expected to remain loyal to a Kage's word regardless of what clan they belong to. If the Raikage asks a Kumo Akimichi to do something, they're expected to do it. If the Hokage asks a Konoha Akimichi to do something, they're expected to do it. Though yes, some people do in fact value the word of their clan elders or leaders more so than the word of their kage. That being said though, we'd then have to establish Clan Heads, which would become a problem as we're firstly not fond on making people Leaders to a Clan and also considering we haven't even had their clan history written up yet, it'd be silly to even elect anyone as a head. Right now, if a person wishes to RP with a Clan Elder or Head, then they'd have to do so via NPC'ing, to which there shouldn't really be an issue with doing. Money; Second time you've given a coup as an example, are you trying to suggest something? Anyway, IC influence tends to be translated into the Rank a person possesses and sometimes the SC's. Plus a person is also able to carry some sort of influence via character history. Take Celene's character as an example, she's a Chuunin, meaning she'd have influence over Genin. But her character also derives from a wealthy family, meaning she could involve that within her character. She even states in her character that she values herself higher at times because of the wealth she possesses. IC Money doesn't really need to exist, it's just bragging rights at the end of the day.

You misunderstood. I was running with a Medieval-ish idea that if you're of a Higher Standing, you're opinion matters more than that of a Commoner. Even if that person is the most intelligent guy or gall ever, just because you're e.g. from the Uchiha, everyone is like 'OMG! That's amazing'. Obviously, it doesn't make you clever or better, but it just means that people agree to what you say or think, because if they don't, either your family or you yourself, will Sharingan-their-butt.

Ah alright, even so, it's not really something that needs writing up but rather it has to do with a persons personality. If someone wished to be arrogant enough to boast about their clan and it's power, then they'd be free to do so. If someone were to also prejudge someone else based on their last name, then they'd also be free to do so. As said, it's based on how a person constructs their characters personality. - Chris wrote:

| Far too many responses to take into account here. Seriously though, none of these ideas need to be forcibly put into play. Solved. |
