South glared at the map provided to him via a local vendor. The sixth of the same region of land. Aside from some minor differences in spelling of various locations on these maps (e and i seemed to be mainly targeted), they were all by and large the same. But there was one particular feature that annoyed South, the glaring single point of connection between the 'commercial' districts and the 'industry' area. Commercial included the agricultural and tourism aspects of this portion of Kaminari no Kuni. The industry area included the shinobi headquarters, heavy metal works, and in general- the true nuts and bolts of the region. Unfortunately, there was only one publicly known crossing.
Fanning out the leaflets of paper, South studied the same line as it recurred across the pieces of stationary. How to go about this? Picking out the two of the highest detail, South discarded the rest into a nearby trash-can, much to the annoyance of the merchant he had just purchased it from.
Not being a overtly cruel person, South hadn't bothered with marring the map, instead leaving the seller searching the trash-can for his mint condition ware. So now, South had only a short way to til he reached the pathway that would lead him to Kumogakure, an area renown for it's skill in Kenjutsu which was his reason for visiting. While he most certainly didn't expect to get his hands on the Village Techniques, he could most certainly develop his own counters to them if he experienced them first hand on his own initiative rather then trying to survive and study them on the fly, rather then being attacked by a Shinobi with aforementioned background and education.

Now residing a couple of hundred meters away from the beginning of the path, South had arranged his available supplies in a neat row in front of him, if this was going to work he needed to have everything prepared. His black Nodachi lay by his side, the exploding notes, pouches were aligned together, Shuriken, Kunai and Senbon were similarly allied. Makibishi, steel wire, the file and his Windmill Shuriken were grouped together. All by their lonesome were two scrolls that had been the last to be removed from the pouch. Grasping the pair, South placed them with the 'utilities group' of wire, file and feet spikes.
He then considered the small armament that was his traditional arsenal. And indeed, the traditional arsenal of most Shinobi. And from the pocket of his robe, South withdrew a chitin white mask, the colour of finely scrubbed calcium.
He studied the simple thing for a moment before placing it over his face and beginning the arduous process of 'armouring up'. Wrapping the two exploding notes around another two of the senbon, he began to replace all of the avaliable items, now having completely refreshed his memory of their locations and conditions.
The two specially prepared senbon were placed within the tapering of his black outfits and innocently lay there in a manner similar to the fitting needles that had been used to hold the cloth around him when first designed for him.
The location of the needles was to jut out of the v-section of his vest, the cool steel resting nicely on his lukewarm flesh. The shafts rested parallel to his skin, negating the chance of puncturing himself for the most part. Allowing himself a brief moment of meditation, South called forth the entity that resided within whatever worm ridden part of his body that could be termed as a soul. His eyes darkened behind the mask. only punctuated by his irises morphing into a sickly yellow, the shade one might attribute to a day old bruise that has gone particularly colourful. His pupils followed the same path as the rest of the fell orb, a pigmentation that indicated the lack of any reflection of light. Black as the pit from pole to pole.

Now leisurely making his way towards the bridge, South would proceed to cross the bridge, his sword out in his right hand as he began to cross the bridge.

Sanjiro rushed through the trees, moving as fast as his legs could take him. The situation seemed bad. Only hours after speaking with the Raikage about his promotion did he receive an intelligence report from a scout that someone was trying to get into the village. It was a call to arms that couldn't be ignored. Sanjiro quietly lamented the fact that he hadn't yet left the village to go on his little training expedition, something that he wished he could have done before this moment. It would need to wait and his current skill set would need to be enough. As he rushed forward to the location that had been detailed on the report he adjusted his path, taking into account the forward movement of the intruder. He would need to intercept this person and deal with him swiftly.

The boy began to think of the Raikage's words, letting them fill him with confidence. He was a Chuunin now, a real soldier on the front lines. He didn't have time to doubt himself. This was a serious situation and one that would be dealt with in the swiftest of manors. A small smile spread across his face, his eyes now searching desperately for any sign of life or movement. Suddenly in the distance he noticed something moving, it was close to a bridge, attempting to cross. The boy narrowed his eyes, trying to get a better view of whoever the figure may be, all the while quickly closing the distance. This had to be the intruder, the mask he wore was terrifying, no simple civilian would wear such a mask. The sword that this figure carried also tipped him off that perhaps this man wasn't here for peaceful reasons. Even if he was, he didn't belong here, not without the proper permission, which Sanjiro truly doubted he had.

Suddenly the boy jumped from the trees landing a good 10 meters behind the mysterious masked figure, his eyes glaring at the man's back. Ready to attack, Sanjiro drew his sword and pointed it forward in one fluid movement, positioning the tip so that it pointed straight at the man.

"Halt! Identify yourself!"

His voice boomed throughout the environment as he stood there, awaiting an answer while expecting an attack. He wasn't sure whether the man was friendly or not but his instincts told him that this would be a confrontational encounter. There would be no talking this through. The man would need to leave or one of them would be defeated here.

Kanji walked towards the village gates trying to look for his forehead protector, it wasn't very easy for him to find. He had forgotten it at his house and ended up running back there, sighing at his mistake he slipped on the headband as he walked out of the village gates. He was talking to some man in a tavern and ended up accepting a job offer he had. Albeit Kanji was worried about accepting this mission he was glad he did, now he had something to keep him busy. His mission attire perfectly clean, he smiled as he had been excited to go on this mission. He would finally get a chance to test out his body after all his training. He was at his full potential right now, fully rested from his training back at his house, Kanji took a step forward and noticed someone. There stood a cloaked figure a good distance away, with some sort of sword out in his right hand. Gritting his teeth to meet someone like this just before he left the village, Kanji pulled out a kunai from his pouch. He didn't want to fight someone just before he ran off to do the mission. Holding it in his right hand, he held it in a defensive pose preparing to be struck at. The cool night air pressed against Kanji's cheeks as he was about to yell out, "Halt! Identify yourself!" the voice was all to familiar. Sanjiro stood behind the unknown figure prepared to strike at any opening.

"This is Kanji Senju from Kumogakure! You heard the man! Tell us who you are and your reasoning for being here!" Kanji was in no mood for games as he approached the man slowly, he eyed him and his weapon closely preparing to dodge any attack. A good five meters in front of the man Kanji had underestimated the distance between the man and Sanjiro. Realizing his mistake, Kanji kept a cool face but raised his kunai in front of him with the blade pointing to Kanji's left side. His left hand was placed just below it prepared to block and taijutsu attacks the man would try and throw. His red eyes finally took notice of the man before him, his mask he wore was very weird and his pupils even more. They seem vile and stained, this was not some civilian that they could easily deal with. Realizing this Kanji quickly called out to Sanjiro. "Be careful! This isn't some civilian! He reeks of something foul!" Albeit rude to scream that in the face of the enemy, Kanji had no care for that and quickly jumped back to keep the distance between them. Now a good ten meters away the made had the choice of turning his back to either chuunin for no benefit.

South was calm. Strangely calm. His breath rasped against the mask adorning his visage, protecting the intricacies of his features from those who might wish to peak. Still, this had been a fast response time, quicker then he had imagined it would be. His lids closed over the pair of baleful orbs for just a moment before he turned to view the one who sought to detain him from his goal. As South's body swung around in a jerky disjointed fashion, his pupils widened slightly as he observed the first unknown Shinobi.
Not knowing one's name could be a tad troublesome when attempting to classify their reactions internally. As an added bonus it allowed one to relate that much more to them. This one was inherently classified as Alpha. Why? Because Alpha comes before Beta. Speaking of which, yet another busy body wormed it's way out of the proverbial woodwork, who was invariably called Beta.
South took one step back, eyes flickering between the pair as they incessantly jabbered on. Narrowing his mutated optics in annoyance, South waited for one of them to slip up, make a mistake and allow him to take the initiative. Simply put, they were at a stalemate, each of them hesitant to attack him due to the others presence. South flickered back one last time as the stalemate finally broke. 'Beta' jumped. Maybe he didn't consider it an overtly vulnerable tactic, but while one was in the air, they could not dodge. In a blur of motion, South drew two Kunai, in a single easy swoop. One Kunai suddenly found itself on a trajectory to collide with Alpha's chest unless he made a motion to dodge. This was not a blind, mad tactic, it was a carefully planned out strategy. You see, South was already moving towards Beta as he leapt skywards. Assuming that Alpha would attempt to intercede, South had wait a moment before throwing, allowing him frame of reference to aim with.
From the brief glimpse South had seen the moment before he landed, Alpha was fast, faster then South. Hence it would make it harder for him to dodge once he got going. If he jumped for South, he was have to scramble to organise a defensive measure. If he ran towards him, the flying blade would interrupt his stride.

The second Kunai was targeted for Beta's right side, the one opposite to the Kunai. The thought was that Beta would need to reach across, or pass the Kunai over to his other side in order to deflect it. At this point in time, South would be a meter below and behind as he flew backwards. Bringing the sword around, the long blade would slash upwards, aiming to sever some appendages and all that gory stuff.

Sanjiro stood, expectant, yet still as a statue as he heard a familiar voice on the other side of his opponent. The voice was familiar and the young shinobi immediately placed the voice as one that belonged to Kanji. It had been a while since he had seen the boy, and while the circumstances were exactly favorable for a reunion, he could feel a small bit of happiness swelling up inside of him. He was glad to have the Senju as his ally. He wondered if Kanji had gotten any stronger since their spar, the thought though was fleeting as he noticed the figure making a move toward Kanji as the Senju made an attempt to put more distance between himself and the enemy.

"Fast."

Sanjiro immediately cursed his luck as he rushed toward the intruder, his eyes already making their shift from the normal brown color to that of a deep crimson marred by the single, signature black comma shaped tomoe. The kunai sailed toward him, yet it was easily traceable with his enhanced vision, the projectile moving in slow motion from Sanjiro's perspective. The boy made a quick yet practiced move as he easily shifted his weight to the left, redirecting his path slightly, allowing the kunai to sail harmlessly past his right side. Of course this slowed down his charge a bit as now he was no longer moving in a straight line toward his opponent. In fact, the intruder was now positioning himself in such a way that he would be behind Kanji, making it difficult for Sanjiro to even mount a proper attack. The gap between Kanji's body and that of thier opponent would prove to be too small for Sanjiro to squeeze through by the time he would reach them, it would most likely result in the two Kumo ninja colliding with one another, thus creating an unnecessary opening.

"Behind you!"

Sanjiro yelled out in hopes of alerting his ally about the incoming danger from behind. While not being able to see the attack being posed, the fact was that his friend had allowed the enemy to get behind him and thus was in a slightly vulnerable position. Sanjiro cursed his lack of speed, despite being known as one of the faster ninjas of the village. Now after having covered about five meters, still keeping a good ten meters distance between him and his opponent, and his ally, Sanjiro began to slow his pace, still approaching at a somewhat fast rate, but going slow enough to exercise the proper amount of caution that the situation called for.

As the boy approached the two he noted that he was no longer running along the mid point of the three meter surface, being slightly skewed to the left side so that he could hopefully see what was happening without Kanji's form completely obstructing his line of vision.

Kanji's eyes widened as he sailed through the air, he never expected a kunai to fly towards him. Flicking his right hand in a tossing motion he quickly deflected the kunai with moderate ease. Kanji mentally shrugged figuring that the man would at least aim for his other side, slowly coming back to the earth he began to charge chakra into his right arm preparing to charge the man once he landed. Smiling to himself it reminded him so much of his spar with Sanjiro. "Behind You!" Speak of the devil, Sanjiro soon shouted to Kanji warning him of some threat. Kanji's right arm already began to turn into its tree like form as he twisted his body to the left to see what Sanjiro warned him of. He kicked and swung towards the left with his tree arm and his right leg spinning him towards the left. Soon he saw the cloaked figure beneath him start to raise his long blade up within his right hand. Eyes widening, Kanji reacted in to most plausible way possible he could think of. "Punch that fucking sword!" Now on his left side from turning, Kanji used the momentum from his spin to punch the blade using his right hand. Easily twisting the man's wrist towards an unintended motion. From the nature of the punch it would easily disarm him, still soaring through the air, Kanji extended his left hand and hit the ground. Barely managing to catch himself he pushed up off the ground and spun around to face the man's back. He was a good three meters from the man. Forming the tip of his tree arm into a wooden hand, Kanji clapped them together and pressed them against the ground pouring charka into the air. "Haran Banshou - Stormy Upheaval" Kanji said with a small smile on his face. Nearly instantly a waterfall came crashing down behind Kanji as the water easily rose up to a person's waist. The water formed a small circle around the Senju allowing him to not be swept away but the same couldn't be said for the man or his weapon if it laid on the ground. It would push him back a good four meters if he let it hit him. Standing up and allowing the water to slowly start pouring off the bridge, Kanji preformed a string of hand seals. "Water Release: Water Drowning Technique." He said as the water in the area rose up in a five meter wide column behind Kanji.

"Sanjiro go after him now!" Kanji would call out trying to use his water jutsu as a way to distract the man. It went towards the cloak figure in a straight line but quickly turn towards the left and try to smash into his right side. If it was successful it would have knocked the man over the railing and left him falling to his certain demise. If it missed and he charged forward Kanji would have had a piece of the column from the base break off into a small two meter column that would extend a good two meters forward to push him back. The original column would have rose up to make way for Sanjiro so he could easily attack the man's back.

It was a good plan, armour up the vulnerable extremities then using that expendable armour to muscle away his blade, and South went with the flow- allowing the armoured limb to pulverise the weapon, sending it flying away. And the intricate dance continued. Idly noting that the muscles within the subject wrist were not in a state of flux, South's left hand quickly plucked one of the senbon that he had pinned to his jacket's trimmings during his preparation time, rotating on his heels, South lazily noted the effectively trajectory of his opponent before he flicked the senbon to the ground, directly under the portion of land where Beta would land. As it so happened, the senbon reached that area at about the same time his opponent did, if a little before. And if he happened to notice the small insignificant sound of the metal hitting the ground, he might miss it. Whether he did not was a mute point as the exploding note that had been wrapped around the senbon detonated, right beneath the feet of his opponent as he swung around.
The explosion likely wouldn't kill his opponent, merely render him unconscious with severe burns to his legs and upper body. His arms probably being saved from exposure due to the wooden casings that Delta had morphed them into. This of course, was dependent on his opponent not noticing the senbon beneath his feet, if he did however and move to avoid it, South would swiftly move to intercept his opponent with a technique of Leaf Origin, bounding forwards in tightly controlled bounces, one for each half meter and none higher then fifteen centimetres off the ground.
Of course, there was the person behind to consider, Alpha hadn't shown his hand yet, and South made sure to glance over his shoulder as the battle unfolded to keep and eye on his progress. If, by some miracle the senbon didn't make it's way to the intended target zone, South would adopt a new line in his strategy, jumping upwards, his would funnel chakra into his feet, causing a insoluble film of metaphysical energy to cover his feet, causing him to balance on the liquid that had been adeptly summoned.
Using one of the more curious functions of such a skill, South made to skate towards his opponent, intending to lay a blow on him.

As the battle unfolded before him Sanjiro had never stopped his approach, moving steadily faster toward the man, still watching his movements in slow motion, analyzing the man. He watched as his friend managed to bat away the man's sword without too much trouble, sending it skittering just under a meter and a half to the man's right. No detail went unnoticed by the shinobi as he continued to close the distance, the world continuing to move at it's sluggish pace, as though he were in some cheesy action film. His sword trailed behind him, gripped tightly in his left hand as he readied to strike his opponent once he was in range. That was the plan anyway, until he noticed his opponent withdrawing an item that was all too familiar to the raven haired boy. A senbon with an explosive tag wrapped around it. This was a deadly combination as the senbon and the tag both usually went unnoticed by most. Sanjiro knew better though, being a user of this particular trick. He also knew Kanji had first hand experience with facing this type of attack as the Senju had faced off against Sanjiro and had fallen victim to this rather underhanded method of attack.

Upon seeing all this Sanjiro's mind kicked into overdrive. Instantly he realized the danger his friend was in and knew that unless he acted Kanji would be seriously hurt. The boy continued to run, keeping note of the man's fallen weapon. What needed to happen now would be a matter of split second timing and flawless coordination, something he had confidence that he and the Senju could pull off. Who better to pull off a tag team attack than this dynamic duo?! They were best friends and they were both warriors. Despite having their differences, he knew deep in his heart that they believed in one another. They would not fail. This was where the line would be drawn.

"Tag! Sword-switch!"

Sanjiro cried out, now only three meters from his opponent and quickly closing. He noted the masked enemy glancing over his shoulder but it didn't matter. Sanjiro moved forward, focusing on his enemy. He knew that Kanji would get the message, both of these situations mirrored their epic spar that had occurred only a few short weeks ago. It was a spar that Sanjiro would never forget and it was one he was sure his Senju friend wouldn't either. Every word, despite the command being so short, held meaning, it incited memories that both of them could relate to.

Suddenly Sanjiro was upon his opponent, now about half a meter away, who may or may not have been facing him. His eyes watched, expecting some sort of counter yet at the same time Sanjiro acted offensively, wanting to push his advantage. His right hand twitched, forming a single seal in a split second and instantly a surge of raiton chakra was released from his body, spreading out in a one meter radius in the blink of an eye. The attack was was as quick as a flash of lighting, it being of the same element and instantly he knew that his opponent, if hit, would begin to feel the effects of his muscles starting to spasm and his nerves refusing to respond properly. While it wasn't a complete paralysis it was enough to significantly slow down all bodily movement, prolonging his reaction time and ability to go on the offensive for a short duration.

Almost as quickly as the discharge occurred, Sanjiro brought his sword to the ready, holding it at his side, lagging behind him somewhat at his left side. Rather than outright fight the opponent head-on, he attempted to rush past the man, only to quickly shift his weight, pivoting quickly to the left to bring the sword around and across in a full blown slash toward the man's lower calf, at about the insertion of the achilles tendon on his left leg. The series of movements were quick and rapid yet all of them carried the expertise of a practiced swordsmen and as they were performed never once did the ninja's special eyes leave the form of the man's body. Sanjiro always remained vigilant, ready to react to the situation as needed. His eyes helped him in that regard, allowing the world to remain in motion yet at a peacefully slow pace that gave Sanjiro's mind and body ample time to respond to whatever obstacle may have presented itself.

"Tag! Sword-switch!" Sanjiro yelled out, not ignoring his friend's advice he preformed the tiger seal. "Switch with what?! God damn it... Wait! The sword! It is still on the bridge!" Kanji thought to himself as he activated the famous academy jutsu. The exploding tag exploded as his form was easily covered by his poof of white smoke with the black smoke giving the impression that he had actually exploded. Within the smoke stood a Kanji look alike singed and heavily from the explosion. It fell over on its back and poofed into a sword, the sword the cloak figure had used. The actual Kanji was slightly singed and had smoke coming off him from narrowly avoiding the explosion but was none the less unharmed. He was a good meter and half away, Kanji knew he could close that distance easily. Soon Sanjiro rushed up to the man preforming some jutsu Kanji had not seen before, recognizing the chance to strike Kanji jumped onto the railing behind him and watched for one split second. The scene before him was a samurai cutting a berserker down in elegance and pride as a swordsman. Kanji smiled to himself watching Sanjiro look so happy. It was rare to see the young Uchiha's pride in any form. Making a mental note spar with Sanjiro at a later time, Kanji would have already charged chakra into his legs. He jumped off the railing and quickly closed the distance between him and the cloaked figure not even taking half a second to do. Taking his chance, Kanji was less than a meter away. He could practically breath on the man now, jumping into the air he spun backwards. Extending his left leg outwards, Kanji's blow would have hit the man directly in the chest region. However this wouldn't be the end of his attack, after breaking his ribs from the force of being hit it would easily send him sailing a good three meters towards the left. He would easily sail over the railing and plummet to his death if he didn't dodge this attack. The stalagmites waiting at the bottom to skewer him alive, no lakes existed within these dry mountains. Kanji would grimace at the fact he just killed someone in such a horrible death but he would accept it. This man tried to kill the two chuunin so he in turn put his life on the line. Kanji would look over at Sanjiro and smile slightly despite the circumstances. "Heh... My first kill... Not as glorious as everyone makes it seem..." Kanji would've said with a somber tone, it wouldn't have been nice to laugh at the man's death.

However, if the man had managed to dodge the attack Kanji, Kanji's first move would be to increase the distance between the two. His right arm would go back to its wooden state and prepare to block any oncoming attacks the man would try. Gritting his teeth he would call out to Sanjiro, "Sanjiro! Let's finish this! This guy isn't going to go down if we go easy on him." Kanji would take in a deep breath and try to watch the man as closely as he could. "Just who are you anyways?! Take off your mask if you aren't afraid of us!" Kanji would call out to the man. It wouldn't be good to keep fighting an unknown opponent.

PostSubject: Re: Breaking and Entering Breaking and Entering EmptySat 07 Jul 2012, 2:28 pm

When that trio of words vibrated themselves from the multiple cords situated within the throat of Alpha, South knew- just knew that he was in trouble. It was not an inescapable trouble, simply that he was fighting a pair of opponents who would now be able to co-ordinate their attacks due to their shared history together.
'Sword-switch' was still a fairly easy statement with time and leisure to expend on it's enclosed secrets.
However, South was under duress at the moment, and kicking his feet back to consider the possible ramifications of such a statement was a privilege revoked most harshly from his available options.
There were a few ways one could take such a statement, but for South he cut to the chase and knew that his side-attack had been foiled by the observing Shinobi, something that had happened twice now. At first South had bee glad that he had forsaken his right to compete, or at least dismissed it. But now- his presence in close quarters would be much preferred to his annoying habit of standing on the sidelines: watching.

Although having a good crack at blowing up his partner seemed to have done the trick, as the sound of footsteps echoed out behind him as Alpha raced forwards. Glancing over his shoulder, South caught a momentary glimpse of his opponent approaching at a speed he could not hope to compete with.
Flinging himself to the side in a manoeuvre that was classified as a 'side-step'. From sheer reflex action, South closed his eyes as he noticed the beginnings of the flash- saving him from the brunt of the blindness that those viewing it directly would suffer from. South grabbed onto the the slim hope that he might make it out of the range of the Ninjutsu, but was proved false as the white flash overtook him. This was not to say that he hadn't been doing anything as a means of countering his opponent, as he hurled himself to the side, he formed a single hand seal. Chakra gathered from inside his chest, the motion of leaping to avoid the blaze of electricity causing him to inhale as he moved through the air. The counterpart to such a action caused the internalised chakra to be exhaled along the the steam of various elements into the air.

This technique caused the defining trait of all superhuman warriors to gather within the lungs, the vividly blue chakra condensed once there, and clustered together as the useless particles were removed from the body. Once they left the mouth however, they changed yet again. They polymerised, becoming charged by some unseen order to arrange themselves in a pre-determined fashion. That of the everyday nail in this case.
As South's breath left his system, he launched a devastating counter-attack on his closer opponent.
A small mist of metaphysical nails left his mouth, targeting the abdominal regions of Alpha.
The chances of his attack succeeding were reasonably high. Why? Because in the sudden blaze of lightning South's figure had been momentarily covered, hiding his motions from view. One meter was not a large distance by and stretch, hence the flying projectiles would most likely find their mark quickly and brutally.

In this particular instance there was only one appropriate follow up. Flowing through the motions of yet another Leaf Style concept, South's form moved swiftly towards Alpha. The original power of the technique ensured that he moved at a high speed, however the inherent power of the technique he had been subjected to insured that his muscles disagreed with his intentions. Albeit he still moved fast enough that it was likely his opponent would still be reeling from the unexpected assault.

Hopefully the flash of lightning would momentarily cloud unassisted eyes, South of course- had closed his to avoid the flash-bang effect. His opponent however had one such pair of orbs that could potentially ignore this feature, but the chakra content in the technique. Unless of course his opponent could discern between chakra natures, which could be difficult seeing as South shared a element with his opponent. Amusingly enough, South was unaware of the special properties of his opponents eyes, despite having just been positioned close to Alpha. Why? One might ask.
South tended to avoid looking at his opponents eyes in battle, which served a duel purpose, visually based Genjutsu tended to be redundant on him, and it helped him forget that those he fought with were people with aspirations, dreams, hopes. Those he murdered had families, maybe they were not recognised by law, maybe his partner hadn't had her arm tied to his with a silk ribbon, but there was a relationship there. South very rarely stumbled across anyone who actually deserved to die.

The actual motion he went through was to slide himself beneath his opponent, propelling his motion with both hands and chakra, as soon as he was within range(a rather easy stretch by all accounts) South would thrust his leg up into the air, using the muscles in his spine, arms, neck, stomach, as one giant spring, the attack would hopefully launch his opponent into the air, while his speed was reduced- it most certainly did nothing to his available strength. The angling of the kick would force his opponent over the railing by about a meter if it connected. Scrambling to his feet, South quickly made towards the Village Gates, glancing over his shoulder as he ran. He had perceived a relationship between the two, so this movement depended on his attack connecting and Beta moving to save Alpha from the one hundred meter fall.

The jutsu worked. That was the thought than ran through Sanjiro's mind as he whipped around, letting his body face his opponent, eyes never leaving the man. How did he know that the jutsu had worked? The chakra that dispersed outward had made contact with the man's body, covering it, moving inside and infiltrating, giving the raven haired shinobi a three dimensional imprint as though his enemy had been covered with small particles, but despite that the man had seemed to have reacted with an amazing degree of foresight, being able to predict that an attack was coming and being able to put himself into a dodging maneuver that allowed him to escape Sanjiro's planned secondary strike. The only problem was that the man had decided to launch himself toward the area where Kanji had just managed to appear after completing his substitution technique, since it would be impossible to launch himself in the opposite direction in his "side step" due to the fact that such an action would force both the man and Sanjiro to collide with one another. Sanjiro wondered if the man knew that he had just sealed his own fate in this matter.

As the thought crossed his mind he noticed the man beginning to mold a small bit of chakra within his chest, aiming to use a breath based attack. Sanjiro could see the man's chakra clear as day, and he could also see the world around him for there was no flash caused by the earlier technique, and as Sanjiro barely managed to finish his spin he would allow himself to back peddle every so slightly, giving no more than half a meter of distance to the man as he watched his enemy exhale a strange mist that would have left most perplexed. Sanjiro knew the attack though, in fact it was one that he had been taught very early in his ninja career, also in his favor was the fact that Sanjiro could see the group of needles flying toward him. Without much time to react the boy only had one option: move! And so he did, sliding his body as much as he could to the right, avoiding the brunt of the needles but still managing to feel the piercing sting as several impacted his body, tearing through his jacket, shirt and eventually making it to his skin, causing a very unpleasant and painful sensation to run through his body. The pain caused the boy to cringe, forcing him to recoil momentarily.

As Sanjiro reacted to the sudden attack his eyes noticed the figure moving toward him at an alarming rate. Perhaps if Sanjiro hadn't possessed his special vision which allowed him to see the world in slow motion and perhaps if the boy hadn't been trained in the arts of evasion, perhaps if he hadn't already encountered a similar technique in his earlier spar with Kanji, he would have indeed been kicked and sent flying over the edge to his doom. That was not the case though. Sanjiro did possess special vision. Sanjiro was trained in the arts of evasion. Sanjiro had most definitely encountered an attack similar to this one. He could read his opponent with ease and even though the young shinobi played the part of an injured victim his stance suddenly shifted at the last second, as he suddenly slid and pivoted himself to the left, letting the man's kick catch nothing but air while opening himself up completely for Sanjiro's counter.

It was so that as Sanjiro had moved to the side while turning to face his opponent, that his wrist had flicked lightly, causing the blade in his hand to spin in a rapid manor only for his hand to close around the hilt when it was in a reverse grip. Immediately the boy stabbed downward, aiming his blade for the man's lower abdominal region, even if Sanjiro had been a bit off in his aim, the fact was that the attack would strike something, most likely the gut or the chest or somewhere in between. The sequence of events was quick and there was little time for his opponent to react due to him being in the middle of his own attack. Despite all this though, the short swordsmen remained every vigilant, his eyes continuing to track his opponent's movements just in case there was a detail he missed. No victory was ever assured until the final blow was dealt, after all.

Kanji allowed his right arm to revert to the original wooden state the jutsu had morphed it into, his eyes focused on the cloaked man. Cocking his right arm back he waited for his chance to strike, the man had dived towards Kanji and it was a perfect time to swing at him. Kanji should have but he didn't, "Just kill the damn guy! He tried to kill us! It is our job as shinobi to protect the village and ourselves!" the mental battle within his head stopped him. Gritting his teeth, Kanji watched as the man spit out a blue haze of nails towards Sanjiro. They hit but Kanji knew that Sanjiro wouldn't fall to such a technique, if Kanji couldn't beat Sanjiro then this man would have no chance. Now Kanji Senju's right arm became just a solid block of wood as he prepared to smash the man's skull into pieces. The man that they had been fighting this whole time made his first mistake. He slid, he opened himself up to both Sanjiro and Kanji with that simple motion. Hoping off the railing ever so slightly, the Senju now was just less than a foot above the man's head. Almost as a piece of art Sanjiro's blade and Kanji's arm came down with only a second separating the two attacks trapping him. No matter what sort of physical defense the man would put up it would end the same.

Crunch. The sickly sound would echo from out beneath the block of wood that would now replace the man's head if he had not dodged. Even if he tried to block with his arms they would easily be crushed under the strength of Kanji and the weight of the wood. A small pool of blood would trail out from beneath it and shattered fragments of his mask would lie scattered about the place. Crouched just in front of the now corpse, Kanji stood up regretting ever crushed his skull. His arm however extended to hide the mess beneath it while still allowing the young Senju to move. Looking towards Sanjiro he frowned and shrugged his shoulders, "Beware. This will look pretty bad." The Senju warned as he moved his tree arm in one swift motion, whatever was beneath the block was gone however there still remained the headless corpse. Shaking his right arm vigorously to remove whatever remains off, Kanji looked over at Sanjiro one last time. "I don't think I'll be do that again for a while..." Kanji said as he allowed his right arm to revert to normal, small bits of blood and skull were still present but enough for the Senju to ignore them. "We should report this to Kumogakure so they can do clean up duty. I feel bad for them..." Kanji said with a small smile, the corpse was a mess and Kanji didn't feel like staring at it any more. Kanji sighed as stepped over the corpse and walked towards the village motioning for Sanjiro to follow them. They could talk and walk rather than stand over a corpse and wait to see who would vomit first.

However if the man had somehow managed to do the impossible and dodge their combination attack Kanji would have immediately back peddled. He wanted distance from this man so he could use his jutsu rather than dodge his incredibly long sword. Even if the man had no sword, he proved to be versatile with his weapons so the distance was best so Kanji could see any attacks.

There was one funny fact about momentum. It didn't stop. There was an unknown truth in this realm, that energy was never lost. It was only transformed and transferred. Notice the 'trans' suffix? It has a distinct relationship to the words, transit, travel and translate. So when South had attempted to transfer his potential kinetic energy to Alpha, it didn't miraculously disappear. His leg stuck up in the air with a great deal of force behind it. But the energy didn't escape aside from the temporary stuff that had seemingly freed him from the influence of whatever technique he had been put under. The typically coined invigorating substance known as chakra was remarkably fickle, and didn't usually remain around for long once used, attempted or otherwise.
Momentum, friction, heat, are all much more stubborn illusions in a rather rough world.
It was the former who persisted here, and South just kept on sliding.
This would turn out to be remarkably inconvenient for South as he slid forwards, his opponent would deftly stab downwards, and in a single motion quite literally cut open the Nuke-nin from stomach to collarbone, the sword proving enough reistance for him to finally slide to a stop, and die- a faint smile etched on the face beneath the mask.

Before I start .. I'll just say that I'm on device that makes it really awkward to make long posts so I'll keep the short.

---

First of Iruel , you're a C rank Nukenin.
Your two opponents are a class above you , so Chuunins. That alone should tell you were I'm headed. You may be able to dodge one of their moves, but not all. Very surprising to see you taking very little damage..

Which brings me to SC usage. Both Kite and Kiseki are using activated SC such as increased speed ect. And you? You have mentioned no such thing. Yet some how you are dodging people that are much more faster than you. Seems odd, eh?

Finally we can't forget that you're being double teamed. Attacks coming from both people in any whic direction. Your character should have technically been "done in" by the skull Crushing move some by Kiseki or at least Hurt from Kites attack.

All in all Iruel, your character should be dead. Or very well close to achieving it.
Please edit your post accordingly.

Ugh, I made a post and then it got deleted by a flickering connection, so like Celene- it won't be long.

Yes, I could have guessed where you were taking that statement. Right. For one, I'd like to say that I haven't actually been dodging insofar. It's a trick that has been called 'interception' by some. How it works is by defying your opponents post by doing something different to the assume response. Be it lying still, or doing nothing while they twirl over your head. This would be the closest I've actually come to dodging something, but even then South didn't actually consciously direct himself to move away from any incoming strike. So I don't really classify it as one.
SC Usage, yes. I would have to agree with you that they have a physical advantage over me. So look at my above sentiments for my opinion on that. There is a difference between being a 'slippery RPing bastard' and using skills you don't actual have. I usually classify myself as the former, not the later.
Still I may as well lay out my logic in regards to me escaping from that particular counter. Sanjiro is moving at an added 20%, which I don't believe is going to help all that much as he has to dodge, adjust his grip, and then thrust. And throughout this time I'm sliding along. By my logic, that is enough time for someone who is 5'11" to slide away, if it had been Kanji doing the stabbing I'd be well and truly toast. Maybe you disagree with the points I've raised.

Anyway, if you feel that your ruling will remain unchanged, I shall happily lie down in my bed of thorns.
Regardless of the eventual outcome, I would like to thank Kite and Kiseki for for helping me shake off my rust. I'm not in my prime yet, but getting there.

Alright, I doubt you'll take my opinion seriously here as I am an actual participant in the fight but here's how I see it:

Reread this and imagine the movement. As my character moved out of the way, I spun the blade. The two movements were simultaneous. The stab then occurred, thrusting the blade downward. Also try to imagine that my character can perceive your movements in slow motion, and combine that with my superior speed and my evasiveness, I could easily move out of the way and stab you, leaving you little time to react.

The part that really annoys me here though is you didn't even react to my stab, you assumed that I missed without even dodging, or trying to dodge. I said to you already in the chat box that any sort of post that would make it seem as though my character is inept at using his weapon has no ground with me. I even stated in my attacking post that even if I had misjudged the distance that it wouldn't be enough to let you totally slip by.

Let's not forget that when you started your slide you were slowed by 20% and seeing as while in a slide you wouldn't suddenly speed up, your speed during your slide is still reduced, giving me an effective 40% movement in my attack post, making me that much faster with my attack, even if you tried to pull back the time frame within this new post to try and wiggle out of the attack.

As far as I am concerned my attack should connect due to the following factors:

  • Sanjiro has Sharingan, which allows him to see the world in slow motion, as such dodging and reading movements comes easier to him so even while your character is sliding past me I could easily react fast enough to stab downward
  • In my post I said I rotated the sword in my hand AS I side stepped the attack. The moves take place at the same time, placing the blade in a reverse grip as my side stepped was nearing its completion, meaning that this shouldn't be used as a point to help you in dodging the attack, rather it should support as to why I would hit.
  • As you initiated this slide, you were slowed, which means that your over all slide toward me would be slowed as you wouldn't have been able to speed up your attack in mid slide.
  • I have the speed SC that gives me a boost over you, you are effectively slowed during your post where your attack was initiated. The question of speed should never even come up in this scenario as I'm working at rate of 40% faster than you.
  • Even if this all doesn't equate to hit in your mind, the fact that you simply tried to slide under my sword without making any attempt to dodge, pretty much allows me to hit you despite you saying that I missed due to the fact that there is no legitmate reason why I couldn't hit your character when I specifically aimed at your lower abdominal region, meaning that if I missed my intended spot I'd still managed to get you further up your body.
  • Due to the speed at which all these events are occurring, I don't think your character would be legitimately able to dodge this attack as you positioned yourself in a slide that you fully intended to use to kick me off the bridge.

But I suppose if you want to wait for Celene to come back then there's nothing I can do.

OOOHH, I had to walk away from the computer went I read that particular bit. Oh, that amuses me so much. I probably shouldn't get a kick out of my own stupidity, but I do...ahh, the power of retrospect. Shame that there isn't a emo-con of someone wiping away a tear. Ah well, I see my folly here. Suffice to say that I had intended on using a third technique to disable that effect. I even put it here see? 'propelling his motion with both hands and chakra,'. Yes, all my arguments are nicely destroyed. I concede victory to you and yours.
