Training For… Name: Large Chakra Capacity Rank: B Type: Chakra Based Physical Requirements: Must have Increased Chakra Capacity Training Requirements: A 1200 word training post is required to gain this special characteristic. Description: The ninja continues their mediation and physical training which further increases their chakra capacity. Ninja with large chakra capacities have an increased chakra of 35CP
The day was very young, young enough for even the birds to still be dozing happily in their nests. Kimiko and her father, however, were wide awake and raring for some more training exercises. Today, they were going to focus on two things; expanding Kimiko’s chakra capacity some more, and earning the complete trust of the Lions. The changed girl sat on a log, swinging her legs absently and looking at her father who was preparing a few things busily. She sat there quietly, her long black hair tied back off her face in a high ponytail so that her wide chocolate eyes were focused very intently on what her father was doing. He seemed to be setting up some make-shift training dummies out of some firewood that she had gathered the other day. She absently patted down her clothes, getting used to the strange feel of skirts and figure-hugging attire. On a spur-of-the-moment decision, she had bought a lot of these clothes in a nearby village that the pair had visited for supplies a few days ago. Today, she was clad in a pale pink vest, a short black skirt with forest green shorts underneath and strappy black sandals with a thick sole on them. It was strangely… comfortable.
“There.” Her father dusted his hands up and stood up straight, his preparation finished. He had indeed set up a few training dummies for the physical parts of increasing one’s chakra capacity, and accompanied with that would undoubtedly be long runs and sprints. “I’m sure that you know by now what increasing your chakra capacity entails, Kimi. So I won’t bore you with all the details. First of all, I want you to start by meditating.” He sat down on the floor, and gestured for Kimiko to follow suit. She did so, alighting from the log and sitting cross-legged on the floor in front of her father. She pinched her fingers together so that they made an ‘O’ and rested the backs of her hands on her knees, looking across at her teacher with a determined nod. “Let’s get this started.” She grinned slightly, closing her eyes slowly and peacefully. She began to empty her mind of everything around her, and instead focused on her heartbeat, on her breathing, on herself. All images of her surroundings seemed to have disappeared from her head, and instead all she could see was a dark silhouette of herself in her mind. She could also start to see the strands of blue radiating around her in a flame-like pattern as if to imitate her Katon chakra nature. The more she focused, the more of her chakra she could begin to visualise. It was like de-ja-vu; a repeating of the process she had started a year ago. Increasing one’s chakra capacity was a tricky thing indeed, and required a lot of patience and skill. Kimiko only knew how to do so because of her father’s teachings, because he too had been through the pain-staking process.
She sat like this for an hour or more, and her father couldn’t help but be impressed by his daughter’s new-found patience. She seemed to have really grown up in the period of time that they had been away training, even though were only a year into it. He planned to continue the training, but knew that it wouldn’t take much longer until she was really ready. Inside Kimiko’s mind, she was starting to delve deeper into the silhouette. Now, she could see all of her chakra points and the way the chakra flowed inside her. Her main chakra pool was sat in the centre of her stomach, about the size of a balloon. To match the description perfectly, the pool of chakra kept… swelling. It kept fluctuating outwards before shrinking back to its original size again. That meant her efforts were doing something, and that made her determined to continue. She visualised inflating the small balloon inside her body a little bit more, and then sat back to watch would happen. She was about to give up and try another approach, when the pool of chakra inched outwards the tiniest amount. That meant it was working.
She tried it again, adding a bit more ‘air’ into the balloon this time. When nothing happened, she continued to nudge gently at the chakra pool’s limits, aiming to make them grow outwards like they had done before. Outside her head, her eyes were scrunching a little bit with the mental effort she was putting in, and her hands began to clench into fists. Her body began to shake visibly, and her father watched curiously. She obviously putting everything she had into this stage of the training, and that made him smile slightly. Giving her all… that was what Kimiko did best.
Back inside the depths of her subconscious, Kimiko cried out with annoyance as the limits of her chakra pool didn’t budge anymore. ‘God damnit…’ She cursed herself, and wondered what she was doing wrong. She took a couple of seconds to stop straining herself and think. What had she done before?... she was pretty sure that she had done exactly the same as she was doing right now. For whatever reason, it just wasn’t working. She frowned to herself, folding her arms and looking at the glowing blue ball of chakra in the centre of her body. ‘Come on now, you expanded for me before… why are you being so stubborn this time?’ She thought as if her chakra pool was alive and able to hear her. ‘Maybe… I wasn’t trying hard enough…’ She decided, and furrowed her brow with determination. She would really push herself to make sure this stage was successful. Instead of going for the gentle route of ‘inflating’ the pool of chakra like a balloon, she switched to a full on method of wrenching it wider. She mentally grabbed the limits of her chakra and pulled as hard as she could, starting to feel it give slightly. She gasped and continued to pull, increasing the pressure so much that sweat started to drip down her forehead. Finally, she felt a very satisfying ‘rip’ as the pool of chakra expanded to the point that she wanted it to.
It had taken two hours, but Kimiko’s eyes finally fluttered open. A grin formed on her face triumphantly, and she wiped the sweat away from her brow. She really must have been putting herself through her paces to make her body on the outside feel tired. “There! That’s the hard part out of the way!” She laughed, getting to her feet and finding that she was a little bit weak at the knees. Her father smiled proudly and got up as well, patting his daughter’s head. “Well done, Kimi. But remember, you still need to push your physical limits as well as your mental limits.” He pointed out. “The battle isn’t won just yet.”
For the next three hours, Kimiko destroyed countless test dummies and ran around the mountainous region in Hi no Kuni that the pair had settled in. On her tenth lap of the mountains, she ran back to their base camp with wobbling legs and her muscles straining just to keep her up on her feet. She was pouring with sweat, and her breath was ripping out from her throat in rags. She stopped in front of her father, grinning somewhat weakly. “I think… I’ve reached my limit…” She panted, her eyes falling closed and dropping to the floor. Her father caught her just before she could hit the baked earth below, and laid her down carefully so that she could rest. He smiled softly, wetting a flannel and placing it across her forehead to cool her down. Her skin was almost too hot to touch. One could safely say that this phase of her training was definitely complete.

Training for… Name: Summoning Related Jutsu. Rank: E-S. Type: Chakra Based. Physical Requirements: Must have a Animal Contract. Training Requirements: 700. Description: After signing your contract with a species of animals your talent and power has become recognized and renowned throughout the entire species. You are now seen a leader in your own right and you become so respected by your contracted animals that you are now able to use techniques specific to that species for yourself, even creating combination techniques but all of which must still be trained.
Kimiko awoke the next morning feeling very dazed and confused. She sat up slowly, and a cold flannel fell into her lap. She felt sticky and disgusting for some reason as well. It started to come back to her; the training from yesterday of increasing her chakra capacity further. She probably overdid it just a tad… especially since the last thing she could remember was everything fading to black. She must have fallen unconscious. She got to her feet and felt her limbs; they felt strained, but not damaged. She smiled to herself as she closed her eyes and focused on the pool of chakra that she found yesterday had grown, most definitely. She felt the extra power inside her. Her father was already awake, sitting on a log and smiling at her. “Good morning, Kimi.” He said warmly and moved towards her. “Congratulations on your training yesterday. Now, I would suggest that you go and clean up before training today. The Lions have a very sensitive sense of smell and would probably faint if you came within a yard of them.” He smirked mischievously, pushing his daughter in the direction of the lake behind their base camp that they used for washing themselves and their clothes in. Kimiko laughed and headed that way rather happily, wanting to refresh herself for another day of rewarding training.
She would spend today in the Land of the Lions to gain their absolute trust and establish herself as their leader. They already thought of her as the leader for the most part, but at present she could only summon Isamu to her aid. She wanted to widen her range of summoning while her rank and skill level continued to increase, and would do anything to achieve that.
She returned from the lake wearing a coral-coloured shirt with diamond shapes cut out of the front and back (just about keeping everything covered), a purple skirt split at the thighs for better movement, white shorts underneath and wedged brown sandals that were strapped to her feet with green straps. “Are you ready then, Kimi?” Her father asked, folding his arms and looking at his daughter. They were nearly seeing eye-to-eye now in terms of height which made a change from looking down at her before. “You bet I am!” She chirped determinedly, clenching her fists and nodding her head. “Then off you go.” He encouraged. Kimiko made a few hand seals and used the Kuchiyose no Jutsu to reverse summon herself into The Land of the Lions. She arrived with a softer landing than she was used to which made her smile. That had never really happened before; she was used to arriving with her legs waving uselessly in the air in a rather undignified fashion. This time, she had landed cat-like on the soft sand. She straightened up and walked towards the village that she was starting to know all too well. She was greeted by Aslan and his mate Yukima. Kimiko bowed respectfully to the two leaders of the Lion Pride and smiled as Yukima greeted her with a gentle nuzzle on her head. “Welcome back, Kimi.” She purred, standing back next Aslan.
“Thank you Yukima.” The girl said happily. She was very fond of the female lion’s demeanour and temperament. In comparison to her hot-headed mate, she was calm and very patient. She seemed to have accepted Kimiko as a daughter-like figure, and was always very kind and motherly towards the girl. It was almost as if she knew about the lack of a mother figure in Kimiko’s life. “I would assume that you are here to take the Rite of Passage, Kimiko?” Aslan asked, seeming to know everything. Kimiko had expected this, and nodded her head. “That’s right, Aslan. I want to prove myself as the rightful leader of the Lions and become one with your ways of life and battle. I want you all to help me in my quest to bring peace to the shinobi world!” She claimed firmly, looking determinedly into Aslan’s eyes. The great lion nodded, and doubled back on himself to the largest temple that overlooked the village. It was the place where champions resided, including him and Yukima being the rulers of it. It was here that Kimiko would either rise or fall.
They entered the great golden doorway, and Kimiko turned round to the sound of scampering paws. She spotted Isamu, the lion cub who was now growing rather rapidly. “Kimi-chan! I want to go with you! I want to help you in the Rite of Passage!” His little voice boomed determinedly through the Great Hall. It even made Aslan stop and look. He stood determinedly beside Kimiko, his head held high while he actually met Aslan’s gaze. “Kimi-chan taught me to be strong and fight to help your friends! I’m going to actually live up to my name… I’m going to be brave!” He roared with passion at the end of his little speech, and Kimiko looked at the cub with delight that he had finally started to listen to what she told him. “Very well, Isamu. You may be Kimiko’s partner in the Rite of Passage.” Aslan said slowly, eying up the lion cub. The briefest shadow of a smile ghosted on his lips before he continued into the depths of the Great Hall. Yukima, Kimiko and Isamu all walked behind him.
They stopped where golden shrines lined the hall on both sides, and a golden disc with the prophecy of the Lions glittered at the head of the room. It depicted a genderless leader finding the Lions and becoming their master, and embarking on a great, harrowing journey where both master and summoning alike helped each other to bring peace. Aslan had long since said that Kimiko was the child of this prophecy.
“The Rite of Passage is the way in which leaders are established in our Pride. It states… that the challenger must defeat the current leader of the Lion Pride with the assistance of as many followers as they can muster. Kimiko… you and Isamu must fight me.” Aslan boomed, his loud voice echoing through the whole hall. Kimiko gasped loudly; she hadn’t thought that she would have to fight… Aslan… the lion who was celebrated for his immense strength in battle. Isamu gulped audibly beside her, and he shook visibly but kept a grim determination about himself. “We can do it, Kimi-chan! We can do anything!” He stated, the volume of his voice almost matching that of Aslan’s. Kimiko nodded firmly, still feeling rather fearful. Aslan took a fighting stance, his front paws lowered and his tail raised high in the air. His mane brushed the floor, and his fangs were bared. His once friendly amber eyes were replaced with cold dark orbs. Just before Kimiko was about to start this battle, she was alerted to the clattering of claws on the tiled floor. She looked round, and was astonished to see… the Lion Pride’s whole fighting unit sprinting towards them.
She flinched and was ready to leap up in the air to dodge, but the unit stopped behind her, growling and roaring at Aslan. “Kimiko! You have all of our help!” The leader of the unit bellowed whose name was Hashino. The rest of the unit roared their agreement, and started to move protectively in front of Kimiko and Isamu like a shield. The girl was completely stunned; she seemed to have assembled a mighty army to defeat Aslan. They all… wanted her to become leader… “Kimi… you shall also have my help.” Yukima’s soft voice purred from over her shoulder. “It has been a long time since I have fought like this… but I will be there to aid you in any of your struggles.” She growled, scratching her long claws along the tiled floor in preparation. With Kimiko and her followers, they had a grand total of thirteen. Aslan was one on his own. Judging by the brief flicker of fear in his eyes, he had not been expecting so many lions to side with Kimiko, let alone his own mate. ‘My, my… it appears that she has already captured our hearts…’ He thought to himself fondly.
“On my command!” Kimiko shouted, holding her hand high above her head. “Ready… let’s go!” She bellowed, and Aslan could have sworn he had heard a resounding roar in the place of a girl’s battle cry. Kimiko’s side rushed forwards, the fighting unit advancing first. Yukima hung back, preparing her long-range Ninjutsu. Aslan roared and swiped the fighting unit away with a few strikes, but they were persistent and seemed to know how to deal with their opponent. Each of them took a limb or flank to fight instead of Aslan himself, and roars of pain and anger started to echo through the Great Hall. Yukima launched a combined blaze of Katon and Fuuton which engulfed Aslan. The flames flickered and danced, lighting up the shrines and prophecy. The fighting unit sprang back to avoid getting in the way of the blaze. Aslan’s eyes flared a bright yellow as he suddenly burst away from the flames and charged for Kimiko’s forces. He summoned huge weapons that he took in his front paws, standing up on his back legs. He struck Hashino and sent him flying to the opposite end of the hall, and swept away some of the fighting unit in the same direction. Those that remained attempted to take down Aslan’s back paws to make him stumble, but they were burnt with a flash of Katon Ninjutsu.
Seeing that Kimiko was going to be the next attack target, Yukima leapt in front of the girl, also standing on her back paws and holding out her front paws like a shield. “Yukima!” Kimiko cried, rushing forwards to do her part in the fight. Yukima fought with Aslan hand-to-hand, and they appeared to be very evenly matched. Just when Yukima was caught off guard in order to check where Kimiko was, Aslan smashed into her left side with a massive club. She went flying and brought many shrines down to the floor with a resounding crash. Currently, the only ones left were Kimiko and Isamu; merely specks in comparison to the huge hulk that was called Aslan. “The others are okay Kimi-chan, they’ll be back to help! We just need to keep Aslan busy before he too realises they’re about to get back up!” Isamu shouted, dashing forwards in a chakra-infused leap. Kimiko followed him, drawing three kunai with exploding tags attached. “Okay then…” She yelled, launching the kunai as fast as she could towards her target. She brought her hands together swiftly as the kunai approached Aslan, and three explosions roared up with flames and a huge bang. Aslan roared in pain as all three landed a hit somewhere, and staggered backwards a few steps. “NOW!” Hashino roared, powering up the Great Hall with the rest of his fighting unit. A few performed Raiton jutsu, another handful performed Suiton jutsu, a couple more performed Doton, and Hashino performed a joint Katon and Fuuton jutsu. The elements all crashed against Aslan and sent him toppling backwards. His body formed a huge crater in the ground, and while he was getting up, Yukima pounced in with a binding jutsu. While she held it, she looked at Kimiko and Isamu. “Finish this!” She cried, blood trickling down her face.
Kimiko didn’t have to be told twice. She leapt up into the air, followed by Isamu. “Here we go!” The pair cried. Kimiko performed hand seals at a rapid pace, spitting forth the most powerful Fireball she had ever produced. Isamu opened his mouth wide, and with a mighty roar, released a huge gale force wind that collided with his master’s fireball. A fiery storm rained down on Aslan who was bound to the floor, and who could only watch as it approached him.
With a huge bang, the jutsu collided with Aslan. A roar of pain was heard from the old leader of the Lion Pride as Kimiko and Isamu landed back on the floor again; panting for breath and covered in wounds, just like the other lions were. They stood and waited, watching the smoke clear from the last jutsu used of the battle. They held their breath, hoping that this was it… hoping that this was the end… when the smoke finally dispersed, Aslan was sprawled out on the floor with his eyes shut, body singed and mane shortened considerably from the fire that had burnt it. Kimiko had defeated Aslan and earned her Rite of Passage along with the invaluable help from Isamu, Yukima, Hashino and the rest of the fighting unit. It was a rather harsh way of rising to the top, but nature and the shinobi world were cruel indeed. Combine them both together, and you have the Lion Pride. Kimiko would lead the lions to create peace in the shinobi world, like the spookily accurate prophecy had foretold.
