| Kanji stood there, on the bridge where the fateful battle began. The sound of the crunch, the man's final expression, they were all still fresh on his mind as if it had happened seconds ago. The masked man had attack him and Sanjiro first, it was only natural to retaliate. He put his life on the line so Kanji had a right to kill him... right? Shaking his head, Kanji leaned over the railing looking down at the almost endless fall. He remembered scraping the remains of the man's head off his arm and tossing it down there. Smiling a little at the thought of him and Sanjiro fighting together, Kanji sighed as he looked around. It was early and no one should be approaching the village at this hour. He wanted to go off on his mission but he was advised to stay inside the village a little long just in case another attack happened. Kanji was wearing his normal mission clothes too, his sleeveless shirt let the cold air cool him down while his baggy pants kept him insulated. He ran a hand through his hair before listening to the sound of foot steps approaching him. "Hm? No one should be here..." Kanji mumbled to himself before turning to his left. There was no one standing there, but that was the only way towards the village was across the bridge. Kanji shook his head trying to shake off the feeling of another person near by. He turned to face the edge again when something on his right side moved ever so slightly. "Hello there child. Lovely morning isn't it?" The figure some how got past Kanji, that was impossible though. The village was to his right and no one else was going on a mission this early. "Yeah... I suppose it is..." Kanji said trying to avoid staring at the man, he was an oddity. He had long indigo hair and eyes to match, his hair was pulled into a pony tail that easily reached down his back. He wore a purple umanori hakama that covered his purple kimono. This man truly did enjoy purple, it was strange to see a man wear so much of it. He wore purple socks with black samurai sandals, this was not something to be seen in the ninja world. He was very traditional with his clothing and even then this was things that samurai wore. He even wore purple tekkous, gloves meant to protect a travelers hands. He obviously traveled quite a bit to wear these types of clothing, even then you would assume the man would pick up new clothes.
"I see you like my clothes... I am a man of purple... Hahaha..." The man was very carefree with his tone, he spoke like a samurai talking to another samurai. "Yeah I suppose I do kinda like them. I am more of a man of black as you can see. Hehe..." Kanji smiled slightly towards the man to show he was willing to be friendly. This man's white skin seemed to be a refreshing change from the tan skin usually seen in Kumogakure. On his back there was a rather long Katana, this man was only five foot eight, that sword alone was four foot fix though. It was impossible to wield that sword with its sheath, even Kanji knew this. As he leaned against the railing this mystery man followed suit, they sat there enjoying the scenery for a small moment. "So, You killed that crazed swordsman the other day didn't you?" His words pierced the silence and Kanji's chest, trying to keep his cool Kanji looked at the man slowly. "Yeah... I didn't think that word would get around so fast..." Kanji tried to prepare for the next thing that could possibly happen, "Ah... Well swordsmen tend to keep their ears open about each other... That being said..." The man moved his right hand towards the handle of his sword, Kanji took a step back only to watch the man rub the back of his head. "I just wanted to congratulate you on this." A silly smile was on his face, it didn't fit yet at the same time it did. Kanji sighed in relief at the man. "Thank you..." Kanji said as he physically relaxed now that the threat seemed to be gone. The man leaned against the railing again as the morning son bathed over them, it finally seemed to be coming to life. "My name is Kanji... Kanji Senju..." Kanji finally said breaking the morning silence that the two were enjoying. The man in purple laughed as he had seemed to find something humorous. "Giving your name out like that eh? What if I was some assassin sent out here to kill you?" The man spoke the word assassin in a strange way. It wasn't normal, Kanji furrowed his brow but shook off the feeling. "Well you seem nice, I doubt an assassin would stay like this for a while. Mind telling me your name wandering swordsman?" Kanji said narrowing his eyes, he wasn't sure if he would catch the man off guard with that statement or not.
He wasn't phased as he smiled and nodded his head, "Yeah, I'll tell you my name. But what gave me away as a wandering swordsman?" The man asked quizzically. "I've never seen you around Kumogakure before and no one else should be outside but me. I don't even know how you managed to get past me with out me knowing. It is a bit strange. But I digress, I might have been tired and not noticed you." Kanji said, to any observer it looked like a normal conversation but it was a battle of wills. The two men knew something about each other and the only question was who was willing to give up first. "Sasaki Kojiro. Remember that name Kanji-kun. One day I may become a famous swordsman. Or maybe we will meet again some day." The man was playful but Kanji didn't like his attitude, he was hiding something. This Sasaki was definitely a person of interest but as it was there was no need to fight. "I see... Well Sasaki, I can already tell you are an amazing swordsman. To still be alive after using such a long blade, your weakness would be your close range. I can only imagine how you compensate for that." Kanji said trying to bait this Sasaki into telling him his secret to still being alive despite his ridiculously long blade. "Many would like to know Kanji-kun. But they only learn during battle. I doubt they will be telling anyone anything any time soon either." Sasaki said this with a playful smile, now he was baiting Kanji to fight him on the bridge. As much as Kanji would enjoy to fight this man everything in his being told him not to. Something about this man wasn't right, Kanji gritted his teeth as he stretched his back. Before Kanji could do anything the feel of cold steel pressed against his neck, the back of the blade laughing at him. "When did you...?" Kanji said gritting his teeth, he couldn't move right now without opening himself up for Sasaki's mystery move. "Would you like to know of my move Kanji-kun? I'll gladly show it to you. After all, You said no one else would be out here at this time." This was not a normal man, Kanji's eyes widened as the blade pressed itself closer to his neck. |

| "Gotcha!" Sasaki exclaimed with a playful smile, his sheath was in his right hand and the blade was in his left. This man was a master at using this sword, distance didn't matter nor did length, he could draw it just as fast as a knife. The sword now rested in its sheath and Sasaki strapped it back onto his back, "Yeah... You got me..." Kanji said worriedly, it wasn't everyday a master swordsman nearly sliced your head off this early. "Did you feel it Kanji-kun? Did you feel my killing intent leaking off my sword?" Sasaki spoke of killing intent, something everyone had but the stronger your killing intent was the more likely it could manifest itself. It could freeze an enemy in place if unprepared for it and even then it puts people off easily. For this man to go from playful to murderer in such a short second, killing was something he was definitely use to. "Yeah... It wasn't something I want to relive..." Kanji said trying to keep an eye on the man. He was definitely a person of interest now. "Well good. But you will have to one day Kanji-kun. There are those greater than me. And death is a natural part of this world. You should accept that you will kill many more ninja. You may even one day have to kill those you consider friends." Sasaki said as he still kept that cheery smile on his face, he wasn't affected by death anymore. This man has killed to many people to ever be affected by it anymore. Kanji's red eyes watched this man until they met is indigo eyes, the two colors clashed yet their intentions seemed to meld. Both simply wanted to relax and enjoy the rising sun together. "I won't though... I won't have to kill my friends. Even if I have to dirty my hands with a thousand lives... I'll protect as many people as I can. I'll keep my friends safe and this village." Kanji said gripping the railing with his right hand, it began to splinter under it. Kanji looked down below at the bottom of the massive fall and stared at the stalagmites. The pressure from his grip increased as Sasaki began to speak. "Good to hear Kanji-kun. I'll be rooting for you then, make sure to keep this place safe. I rather enjoy coming here after a long travel. " Sasaki said as he walked around Kanji. He began to walk away from the village now, he was going leave this place forever. Perhaps he had never came here, he left no trace as he walked away. "Remember Kanji-kun. Death is natural, you can either embrace it or struggle against it. Don't let your morals stop you from trying to stay alive." Sasaki whispered to Kanji just before walking off, turning to face him the wind blew harshly. When Kanji opened his eyes nothing was there, it was a straight shot too. There was no place for the man to hide, was he a ghost that had died here?
Kanji wasn't too shaken up that he had killed someone, it seemed normal to do. The urge to survive, the urge to see Persy and Kirima's face again. The urge to hang out with Tenma and Sanjiro again, those drove him to kill. He wasn't going to let some wandering berserker stop him from seeing those people again, Kanji nodded his head agreeing with himself. It was normal to want to live, but that man Kanji just met was different. He didn't want to die but at the same time he looked as if he just waited for to find his resting place. Sasaki Kojiro, a very mysterious swordsman. Kanji would have to prepare for the day that he would meet someone stronger than him, it wouldn't end too well. Turning to face the village, Kanji began to walk back inside so he could prepare for his mission finally and leave within a day or two. "Sasaki Kojiro... Hmm... That name doesn't sound familiar but... He definitely should be watched. Something seems very off about him... He is hiding something..." Kanji whispered to himself trying to deduce what about Sasaki seemed so weird. Either his skill that he kept hidden made the man more mysterious or he really is mysterious. Walking into the village Kanji sighed, he felt mentally tired from that encounter. He would take a nap or two before setting out on his mission. Hopefully he wouldn't encounter Sasaki or someone stronger than him during the mission.
