Mission

Spoiler:

Toto opened his eyes, wincing against the assault of the late-morning sunshine on his retrains. Sitting up in bed, he scratched the sleep out of his eyes and stretched his body, which ached a little bit from his slumber. He lifted himself up from his bed and threw on a white T-shirt, black baggy shorts, his belt and his sandals. After getting dressed, Toto decided to go out onto the balcony and look over Konoha while he woke up.

Toto headed onto the balcony, wrapping his arms around his body because of the cold air that chilled his body. "Boy, it's cold out here." He said to himself as he turned around to get a jacket from his apartment. Just then a bird came out of no where and landed onto his head, sticking it's sharp talons into Toto's head. "Hey, Mitsura." Toto said as he got the bird off of his head and sat him down on the kitchen table. "What do you have for me today?" He grabbed the message that was strapped to Mitsura's body and read it to himself.

"Uzumaki, Toto,
we have a package here at the post office that is to be sent to the Rice Field County, but all of our Courier Ninja are out on duty at the moment and we have chosen you to deliver the package to it's receiver. Please come by the Post Office to collect the package and set off as soon as possible.
"

Toto put down the letter and went back into his room to change into the outfit that he wears while on duty. "Finally -" He said as he went to retrieve his jacket from the living room. "A mission." Toto had been itching for a mission since his first team meeting a few days back. He completely embarrassed himself in front of his sensei Kimiko and teammate Kemuri. Ever since that day, Toto has made a commitment to himself and his presumably deceased brother that he would one day be the strongest ninja in all of Konoha. He had been training for hours day after day to perfect his jutsu, but with little success. After gathering the rest of his things, Toto set off to the Post Office to get the package.

5 minutes later...

Toto reached the Post Office, his heart beating it's fastest because he was itching to get this mission done with so that he could get back to Konoha and learn the Animal Transformation Technique that Kimiko had promissed to teach him at the end of their first team meeting. Toto walked through the doors and walked to the front desk. "I'm here." He said as he scratched the back of his head. "Oh right, you must be Toto." The woman at the other end of the desk said as she walked over to a pile of packages and grabbed the package that was to be sent to the Rice Field Country. "That's Me." He said with a smile. "OK then, Toto. This package is to be sent to the Rice Field Country and it has to be treated very delicately." Toto nodded his head. "Yes, Ma-am" Toto replied as he grabbed the package and turned around for the door. "Oh wait! I almost forgot!" The woman said, shocked. "What is it, Ma-am?" Toto asked with a worried expression on his face. "Please don't tell me that Kemuri will have to help me out with this mission." He thought to himself as he started to shake a little bit. "There is a group of nukenin that guard the path to the Rice Field Country. I insist that you get someone to tag along with you on this one, if you don't want to get seriously injured." The lady sad as she paced behind her desk. "I will be fine on my own. Thank you for the heads up." Toto replied before leaving the building. "If I want to get seriously injured... What bullcrap. " He said to himself himself as he removed his backpack and gently placed the package into his backpack. "Now, time to head out!" He said as he started running for the village gate.

At the village gate...

Toto came to a stop right before the gate. The ninja there asked who he was and why he was leaving Konoha. "I'm Uzumaki, Toto. I have a mission to deliver a package to the Rice Field Country." He said as he pulled out his ninja I.D card and the note sent to him from the Post Office. "Very well, proceed." The other ninja said as he opened the gate. Toto put his I.D and note back into his pocket and started running again. He had to make it to the Rice Field Country as fast as possible.

After about 15 minutes of nonstop running, Toto became very fatigued. " Man, I need to get something to eat." He said as he sat down on a log and got a chocolate bar and a bottle of water out of his bag. He opened it up and took a huge bite out of it. "That's good." He said to himself as he went in for another bite. After he finished his candy bar and water, Toto continued his journey to the Rice Field Country.

2 Hours later...

After 2 hours of walking, Toto had finally reached the border to the Rice Field Country. "Finally -" He said. "Wait... What the heck is that?" He asked himself as he shielded his eyes with his hand a looked down the road. There were 4 men, all with katana. They all looked very large as well. "Those guys must be the nuke-nin that the lady at the Post Office had mentioned earlier." He said to himself as he took off his backpack and placed it inside of a bush to hide from the nuke-nin. "I have to take these guys out." He said as he jumped in a tree by him and started jumping from tree to tree to the outlawed ninja.

When he reached the ninja, Toto, who was still in the tree, made the hand signs to use a jutsu. Out of nowhere, earth started to rise from the ground, form into spears and shoot towards the nuke-nin. "I hope this works." He said as he held the jutsu and kept making spears that hurled their ways to the ninjas.

The spears made their way to the nukenin, who had not expected the assault. "Hey, you little prick!" One said as he wipped blood away from his mauled face. "What's your problom? I heard that you people have been hussling people to use this path. Why do you do this?" Toto asked as he raised his guard incase one of the nukenin were to attack him. "We do this because we need to make money. We have lives same as you." One of the men replied as he grabbed his katana and raised it towards Toto. "What gives you guys the right to hussle people though?" He asked as he placed his hand into his kunai pouch, preparing himself for a fight. "We don't do it intentionally." The same mad from before replied. Toto was confused. "What do you mean by you don't do it intentionally?" He asked. "We do this because we were forced to leave our village because we were accused of murdering a helpless shopkeeper, but really we didn't do it. We decended through life over the past couple of years making quick money to keep our lives going." The man said as a tear ran down his cheek. "Please don't mind my asking, but what village did you come from?" Toto asked as he pulled his hand back out of his kunai pouch and climbed down tree. "We came from the Sound Village, a small village inside of the Roce Field Country. Many people come through here daily to get to Konoha, so we figured that this would be a good spot to set up our tax. I am really sorry for my crimes, please turn me into the athorities." The same man from before replied as he wipped away his tears and placed his katana down on the ground, his men following the later movment. "I'm sorry that that had happened to you, and if you want me to, then I will take you to the athorities after I finish my mission." Toto replied as he patted the nukenin's shoulder, attemptinting to assure him that everything would be fine from now on. "OK, thank you." All of the men replied simotaniously. "OK, then just wait here." Toto said as he walked back to the bush where he had hid his backpack. When Toto came back through, the men thanked him once again and Toto continued his journey to his destination.

The air started to cool off and the sun started to go down when Toto reached the village where he was to deliver his package. "Dang, it's getting cold out here." He said as he placed his precious cargo down to zip up his jacket. "Excuse me, young man." Someone said as they walked up to face Toto. "Hello, Ma-am." He said as he picked up to put his package back into his backpack. "Can you help me with my groceries? I am old and frail and can barely stand with these heavy bags in my hands." The old lady asked weakly. "Yes of course." Toto replied as he slipped his backpack back around his shoulders and grabbed two heavy bags from the old lady's hands. "Thank you, Young Man." The old lady said as she led Toto down the street to her house.

After a few moments of silence, the old lady perked up and talked in a frail tone. "Excuse me, but what is a young little Leaf ninja doing here in the Sound Village? There really is no stable truce between the two places." She asked as the two of them rounded a corner onto a seemingly abandoned street. "Well, there was a package at the Leaf Post Office that needed to be sent here and all of the Courier ninja were out on duty so I was hand-picked by the Post Office to deliver the package here." Toto replied as they walked up an old rickety set of steps and into a house. "Oh! That must be my package. My grand-daughter must have sent it, sweet girl." The old lady said, practicably jumping with joy. "That's a relief, now I don't have to go from door to door asking if someone was sent this package." Toto replied, setting down the groceries onto the dining-room table and retrieving the package from his backpack. "Thank you so much, Young Man." The old lady said as Toto handed her the package. She opened the package, revealing a necklace made from pure gold. "That is a very nice looking necklace." Toto said, admiring the piece of art. "It is a family amulet. My grand-daughter's mother just died the other day. The necklace was in her possession when she died, so it was sent back to me until my grand-daughter becomes an adult." The old lady replied as she threw the necklace over her head and onto her neck. "I'm sorry about the death of your daughter, Ma-am." Toto said. "It's alright." The lady said. "I must make my way back to Konoha. I have to meet my sensei." Toto said, putting his backpack back onto him. "OK, thank you for delivering my package." The lady said, stretching up to kiss Toto's cheek as a form of her gratitude. After the woman kissed Toto, he left the house and started to make his way back to Konoha, first retrieving his not-so-bad nukenin. "Mission success!" Toto shouted as he entered the gates of Konoha.
