Edo Tenshin, as has been stated, does not require the body of the subject and creates a completely new body out of the ash material that is seen when the Hokages are damaged by Sarutobi. Therefore, Itachi will having his eyes, Kakuzu could very easily have his hearts, and any other aspects that are necessary could be easily maintained such as Sasori's puppet features because the bodies are created based on the soul used to create it. The vessel resembles the shinobi in their prime, as shown by Orochimaru's revival of the Hokages when they were quite obviously far older (they're kind of dead) so its likely they can pick a body from whatever time. So its no trouble at all for each of the risen Akatsuki members to easily be as functional as they were before their deaths.

They do, however, have to be dead in order to be raised because the soul is pulled from its location (which is left completely unmentioned or clarified by Kishi, likely to avoid religous conflicts) and attached to a new body that is sacrificed and then the former body is caked in the ash that forms their new body. The Fourth is 100% dead, Kabuto doesn't need Nagato's body to perform this jutsu so he wouldn't have any need to contact his bitch (I will not refer to that incompetent paper using ninja by name because she's the worst ninja I've ever seen...) so theres no secret deal there.

Hmm, looks like you did your research well, Hage. Makes sense now. That problem's cleared up, way to go Kabochimaru, you ruined the entire effort of Shippuuden with just one technique! All that hardwork in killing all those Akatsuki, ruined in one page. Twisted Evil

In the anime world, there seems to be two different definitions for the word "genius". One is the common high-intelligence one, the other is for people who are extremely talented. Look at Sasuke. He is not what you would call a genius intelligence-wise, but skill-wise yes (unfortunately). Orochimaru was considered to be an extremely skilled shinobi and was called a genius for that reason. Face it, he didn't exactly have a lot of fights against smart people. Kabuto is definitely smart in my books. Anyone who had managed to fool an entire village into thinking he was a wuss when he was actually a Jounin-level spy has got to have brains. I'd say he's the second smartest character in the show after Shikamaru. Maybe. Hopefully.

I see KabOrochimaru using this technique to have a massive battle that "Diverts" the attention of the main shinobi force. Sasori will use his 100 puppets. Keep in mind that he'll be more deadly with them becuse he has taken on a entier village before with them and won. He lost to Chyio becuse she knew him and was a fellow puppetier. Kakuzu will use his hearts to have more fire power, Nagato stations up some place and sends out his paths assuming he ends up getting the bodies to use. If not then he'll just go rape using his Doujutsu. Diedara uses mass amout of clay to cause damage and Itatchi will handle the stronger foes who slip past all of this with his Genjutsu. KabOrochimaru may be there for this fight or he will be off with Madara. I see him wanting to end up double crossing Madar though...

I know. Everyone forgets about him. But I don't. I really like Shikamaru, and I feel Shikaku has helped him through some of his major screentime.

Oh, I didn't forget about him. I phrased that incorrectly. I meant to say the second smartest prominent character. Anyway, we can't say for sure that Shikaku is smarter than Shikamaru. That is simply assumed because the former beat Shikamaru at Shougi when apparently no one else couldand has got more experience. For all we know Shikamaru is the smarter one, or at the very least the one with the greater potential (these little brats always do).

What is "this jutsu" though? Could it be a far more advanced technique that the 4th used to seal the Kyuubi?

Probably going to be a technique to control the Kyuubi. Either that or it'll be a perfected version of Minato's Space-Time Jutsu, one that will not have the drawback of needing a marker and handseals. Something like Madara's that can be used instantly and without any preparations. It would make sense, since Madara is unbeatable for that very reason, and Naruto would need something to counter that move.

Your correct John. But even so, it should be good. After the boring crap from the previous chapters it will be a nice change to see some action worth reading.
