Sub-Plots/Local-Plots

I have suggested this before, but I would really love there to be a place where one could organise their own mini-plots. Whether it would be a collection of missions or topics, it would provide a chance for the members to create Character Arcs or, more broadly, little Stories of their own. This isn't an alternative to site-wide plots, though it gives us, the members, an outlet for a more consistent story writing, as opposed to a collection of individual topics. Additionally, although optionally, particularly good or lengthy plot-ettes could be rewarded with Exp/Mission Points.

In practice, this is how it would work:

- Ninja Bob wants to become a Nukenin, but his character is essentially a 'good guy'
- He starts a Mini Plot called the 'Descent Into Darkness'
- The Plot focuses on his three friends, Ninja Alex, Ninja Charlie and Ninja Derek
- The Plot starts off with a group topic, where the four have a falling out
- In the second topic, Bob's argument with Charlie ends up in a fight
- In the third topic, Derek, having found out about the argument, confronts Bob
- In a fit of rage, Bob wounds Derek
- Afraid that he has killed his friend, Bob flees the village but Alex happens to be at the gates

And so on. There is no real template for how a Mini-Plot topic would look, but it could have information such as the background behind whatever is happening, the members/characters involved and the Conclusion or End Result, once the Plot is done. (Plus some graphics for those who are graphically talented) Rather than have four separate topics, the Mini-Plot topic would display a clear accessible connection between each thread, and allow members who are not involved, to follow the Plot in more detail. It could also allow the staff an insight into the sort of things the members are interested in RPing out and arguably, could influence or even allow the Staff to build upon the local plots, to establish a site-wide plot.

Hey, Chris. Before I go into a fully detailed answer, I just want to make sure I'm understanding the request:

You would like a separate sub-forum for these mini-plots where you would post the thread [after completion, during, etc.] or just a link to the thread where this is all occurring?

I like this idea \o/ But does it even need staff co-op? There are journals somewhere on the forum, I could just go to that board and post one of these plot threads up for my character right now, couldn't I? It isn't against any rules, surely?

There used to be a board for it, I think, but it was deleted.

The board was deleted because it was not in use and took up space. What I will suggest instead of a new sub-forum, is to use the "Blogging Corner" for your character's plot page. It is already available for one, and it also offers you the same services you were wishing for with a separate board.

Jelly summed it up perfectly. We tried this idea and it was hardly in use but there's still areas like the Blogging Corner that would allow you to make a page with a timeline of your characters threads.
