- Mission Title: Hunting Season
Mission Type: Custom Mission Location: Kaminari no Kuni Shinobi Requirement: Genin Mission Rank: D Mission Objective: With it being that time of the year once more, local Huntsmen have begun trekking their usual hunting routes in search for bears, deer and anything else they may find. Due to the low amount of huntsmen available for this years hunt, they have requested ninja support in order to harvest more supplies from the woods. It is your task to assist the men in hunting down the animals that they seek. Min Post Count: Two
Hunting Season Standing firm atop a branch of the many that inhabited the woods, Shihai was able to gain a strategic view of the tree - littered area in order to find what he was looking for. But what exactly was the young Genin searching for? On this gloomy day, the Archer had been assigned to assist the local huntsmen of Kaminari no Kuni on their latest hunt, in order to broaden their number and strengths, which will essentially increase their gatherings by a considerable amount. Or at least they hope it would. Once the Genin had met the ninja-less men, they were able to allocate a number of tasks for the teenager to complete.
Upon the list that Shihai held, he was able to assure himself that this mission would be a simple and easy success. For all that was asked of him was to kill three stags and if at all possible, a bear. This was of no difficult task for Shihai, if anything, this would simply function as a sort of training session for the prodigy bowman, using the animals as target practice. It would be a walk in the park today, well, a walk in the woods in this case. With the boy already being offered to hunt with the men or to hunt alone, Shihai instantly sprang to the latter option, as working in solitude seemed to be his thing as of late.
The teenagers eyes began to scatter the woodland area, picking out distinct movements throughout. From his angle though, he was at times struggling to even view the ground, as the trees managed to block his vision. Tucking the piece of paper away within his pocket, Shihai began his descent to the forest floor; hopping from one branch to the other, occasionally clasping onto a tree branch in order to swing himself over to another limb. Within moments, he found himself on the forest floor, bow and arrow now drawn at the ready.
In order to find these animals, the Ninja would have to remain as silent as possible. To avoid making a ruckus on the woods floor, the Genin crouched down slightly and began walking at a slower peace. The teenager seemed to act as though he knew what he was actually doing, when in fact, he was mindlessly walking across the forest ground, hoping to get lucky. And lucky he got, as only several minutes later he was able to spot a herd of deer grazing the woodland floor only thirty feet away. Not wishing to be seen, Shihai rapidly manoeuvred himself behind the nearest tree, taking cover from the watchful eyes of the deer.
"Two" He counted. The number rang through his mind as he was able to identify two stags within the cluster of deer. Killing one would be easy enough, killing the other would be the tricky part. Like most woodland animals, deer instantly fled the scene when they felt threatened, one of their own dropping dead would be more than enough to make them have a sense of danger. So, Shihai had two options. He would either have to kill one and run after the second or instead attempt to kill the two with two separate arrows being launched at the same time. The second was a method he had only recently practised and one that would be perfect to practise now.

| Having already made up his mind, Shihai drew a second arrow from his quiver. Aligning it against his bow, along with his fingers, the Genin now leant against the thick trunk of the tree as he began to plan out his next move. Aiming from his current position would be a bit of a nuisance, as the arrows could come into contact with a different tree or possibly even a doe. Instead of risking being caught, Shihai thought it be best to scale his way up the trees once more, in order to gain an arial advantage over the simple creatures.
Replacing the arrows back within their simple quiver, the bow quickly followed, wrapping itself tightly across his body. The use of chakra wasn't an absolute necessity at this point, but in order to quicken his climbing as well as lowering the level of sound, it would be a wiser for chakra to come to his aid. Drawing from his finite bank of chakra, Shihai focused his energy towards his feet, creating a steady stream of chakra. Within mere seconds, the aspiring Genin flurried himself in a one eighty motion and began waltzing upwards on the tree trunk. The chakra did it's job to ensure as little sound was made as possible, while also assisting him in escalating the tree. Soon he once more found himself perched upon a branch, with a clear view of his unsuspecting targets, now being able to release his stream of chakra.
Not wishing to waste time, Shihai swiftly drew his trusted bow, along with two arrows. Now was the time to make his move. Stood at a slight angle, he remained upright and tight with his posture. While one set of fingers began drawing back the arrows to a precise mark, the other held a secure grip on the bow. Taking in steady breaths, his eyes leered towards the two stags, waiting idly by within the open patch of grass. Now was no time for mistakes. The two arrows pointed towards their intended targets, Shihai took one final breath in and finally held. Ever so slowly, his fingers freed the two arrows, forcing the string to fling forward and in turn, launch the arrows to the two targets.
He exhaled. Not yet drooping in his posture, the focused Genin held his position, still holding the bow upright and still keeping his free arm within the same spot it held the two arrows. To his best ability, he tried to follow the arrows as they soared through the air and within seconds, penetrated the two stags. "Success." Shihai told himself, as the two iron head arrows submerged themselves within either skull of the stags. The does spontaneously jerked their heads up and ran in horror. His two targets now lay on the floor, dead. The plan was executed perfectly, perhaps it could have been done in a quicker fashion, but it was nonetheless two flawless kills. Now all he had to do was kill one more.
Without the care of retrieving the two arrows, the pleased Shihai began leaping down from branch to branch once more, until he found himself on the woodland floor. One more still had to be found and now that the does were running for what they believe would be safety, the Genin could only assume a larger party of stags could remain there. The men who had requested his services would have to find the two bodies themselves, Shihai had no time to be standing by, waiting for them to arrive. Placing his bow back in it's place, he darted towards the direction of the does.

| It quickly became apparent to the young Genin that the deer were simply far more faster than he was, at least on the ground. Having to run at his maximum speed, Shihai was having to manoeuvre himself from side to side, dodging any trees within the way, leaping over any fallen trees or roots poking from the ground. Yet despite his best efforts, he was still trailing behind. A new method of travelling, or stalking, had to be devised in order to maintain a visual on the deer. It was time to head back into the trees.
As the pursuit continued, Shihai was able to spot another fallen trunk in front of him. With it only being half collapsed, practically leaning against a stood tree, this would make the perfect opportunity for the teenager to begin changing his course. Drawing yet more chakra from his reserves, the ninja leapt upwards towards the trunk, landing elegantly and instantly continuing his chase. Springing from one tree, to the next, Shihai was quickly covering up lost ground and now catching up with the deer, who had the disadvantage of having to dodge left, right and centre.
Time was trailing on for the Genin, he was actually beginning to get a sweat on. Soon enough though, the doe seemed to come to a slow down, as they found their next comfort zone. It seemed that these delicate creatures were not aware of Shihai's presence and so he wished to keep it that way. Remaining hidden amongst the shadows that the trees offered, he was able to take a closer look at the herd. All were still female, no males were present. Had he just wasted a quarter of his energy by chasing these does to come up empty handed? Annoyance was beginning to grow within him. Though that annoyance quickly vanished.
Out of the blue, a single stag came wandering from a nearby tree, inspecting the does that had just arrived. Shihai was not able to figure out exactly what they were saying, but it seemed that the stag was appearing to comfort the distraught does. As strange as it were, the temporary huntsman had no time for affection. He had to get the job done quickly and efficiently. Drawing a single kunai, his right hand clutched around the handle as his body began kneeling against the branch, releasing a noticeable creek. The heads of the deer jolted upwards, trying to locate the source of the sound. Shihai was becoming too impatient.
With his eyes locked onto his final target, his arm lunged forward, releasing the kunai from his grip. The kunai had a shorter path to take and thus, found itself implanted within the stags forehead within no time at all. Once more, the does scattered, it was as though death was following them that day. Rather than run after the does this time around, he instead hopped down to the floor once more, walking over to the latest carcass. Admiring his handiwork, a grin seemed to stretch itself across his face, as though he had enjoyed killing the deer. That wasn't the case however, he simply took enjoyment out of hitting the targets with such precision, he truly was gifted with his aiming. Or at least believe he was.
Having completed all that was asked of him, he gave no thought about the hunt for a bear, that would be another task, for another day. Instead, Shihai would begin his journey home back to the village, though there was only one problem with that, he had no idea which way he had ran in the first place. "Those bloody does." Shihai stated to himself. If he hadn't had been so hasty as to mindlessly track the deer, then perhaps he could have set out some markings in order to find a way back. But alas, the thought never crossed his mind, not until now that is. A new challenge began for the Genin, the challenge to head back home.
