Jutsu had never come naturally to Saya. Really no one in her family was known for their skill with such delicate things as forming elemental techniques. In the countless times through out her life that others had tried to instill in her the basic functionality of ninjutsu, and all the more specialized techniques that spun off from it’s creation, Saya had flatly failed. In her two years through the Ninja Academy she had managed to learn only two jutsu, and even those came with a huge amount of practice. It was only shortly her graduation that she also picked up the summoning jutsu, and completely by accident.

Even if she could not perform techniques, she still tried. All her teachers ever told her to do, Saya did her best to accomplish. Jutsu after jutsu were cast away in time, and everyone expected it would go much the same way with this day’s lessons. The instructor guided the class carefully, explaining the hand seals and type of chakra control needed. He explained the theory behind the jutsu, and how the chakra was used to open an instant gate between the worlds. He was explaining the importance of the summoning contract when Saya first attempted the jutsu, and promptly vanished.

After her first use of the jutsu, Saya found herself standing on firm, if rather hot, ground. Surrounding her was a vast blackened plain, the ashen ground run through with continuous narrow cracks and crevices. The glow from the heat below the ground was impressive, stifling even, and heated the lungs used to breath it in. The wasteland held few landmarks, only the craglike peaks of the mountains to the north and west of her. To her east and south lay open landscape, and a flat horizon. With only the mountains as an alternative, Saya marched her way southwards. Behind her the mountains continued to bellow great billows of smoke into the sky, creating a rather early sunset for the vast plain that night was quick to cast its shadow over.

(This will be continued with more detail once I know where to put it. This is only the begining.)
