Chatbox Rules Vide
PostSubject: Chatbox Rules Chatbox Rules EmptyFri 22 Jan 2010, 3:33 pm

The Chatbox is one of the most loved modules of Forum Motion, with a large amount of users using it to socialize with the rest of the member base. However everybody must obey the Chatbox Rules to keep their Chatbox privileges as some people can be easily offended. Some of the general rules apply as Chatbox rules also and therefore will be re-posted in this topic.

  1. Diversity: Ultimate Shinobi will take no part in targeting somebody's personal life and any members caught doing so will be strictly punished. Ageism, Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, Xenophobia or any other form of discrimination is highly forbidden and members with any of the problems above are advised to leave the forum of keep it to themselves. Nobody shall be discriminated against because of their race, age, gender or whether they are homosexual, bisexual or heterosexual.

  2. Respect: Not only do the staff members deserve the utmost respect, but so does every other member who can manage to treat you with the same courtesy. Sometimes disrespect may be caused by accident, so to avoid doing this avoid talking about touchy subjects such as terminal illnesses, suicide, politics, religion etc.

  3. Harassment: Harassment is something the staff will not take lightly, if we see a member or a group harassing or singling out another member multiple times severe actions will be taken. However this is not the only form of harassment that we are against. Harassing the moderators and administrators to check your applications or topics over and over again will be punished by us possibly ignoring it or even a temporary chatbox ban. Please be understanding that the staff have lives too and when they get online they are usually extremely busy, your stuff will be gotten to soon enough, only ask once or twice.

  4. Avoiding Punishment: Avoiding punishment will be of course, punished with extra punishment. If you are chat banned and are caught making a second account so you can enter the chatbox, your chatban will be extended and your second account will be deleted. If you continue to avoid punishment permanent bans will be dished out. Another way to avoid punishment is to have certain symbols in your name because for some reason Forum Motion cannot ban members will certain signs. No "+" signs are permitted in a username.

  5. Chatbox Spam: Repetition of smileys, words, sentences, links, random letters and numbers and practically repetition of everything in the chatbox is considered spam. You all are intelligent and mature enough not to ruin the chatbox for everybody else, so just don't do it.

  6. Advertising/Linking: Advertising to another forum, even an affiliate forum, is strictly forbidden. Whether it's giving the link out in the chatbox publicly or asking people to join. Even without handing out a link, just asking somebody to join another site is considered advertising and is as strictly forbidden as posting a url itself. Linking is permitted for youtube videos, appropriate photos and Ultimate Shinobi topics as long as it isn't spammed. One link is enough, anybody interested in the video, photo or topic you are linking will look at it themselves.

  7. Light Fonts: A simple yet legitimate rule. Light fonts are hard to read, if a staff member states that your font is too light you must change it without arguement.

  8. Foul and Offensive Language: Keep foul language to a minimum. Some of the younger member base might have parents or adult guardians who monitor what they do on the internet. We do not want our younger member loosing their internet or site privileges because you cannot hold your tongue.

  9. Chatbox Plagiarism: Plagiarism in the chatbox would be occasions where a member pretends to be another member or in a worse case a staff member. This is strictly forbidden, especially if you pretend to be a user with authority such as an administrator or moderator.

  10. Images: Images often annoy members and end up being cleared from a staff member. To ensure you don't annoy or disturb anybody on the chatbox with images only post them via a link to the url which shows the image or posting it in a spoiler so it doesn't have to take up heaps of room. Make sure all images are appropriate.
