| I have a question regarding the flammability of a jutsu. - Quote :
- Name: Sumi Suihon | Ink Bubbles
Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m), Mid (5m - 10m) Element: Shabondoma (Bubble Release) Description: Sumi Suihon is a ninjutsu technique used by the jinchūriki of the Rokubi. After forming the techniques hand seals the user will blow a stream of black bubbles from their mouths and onto the ground. The bubbles burst with ink which sticks to the surrface and immobilizes anything touching the ground or will eventually touch the ground for three of the users posts. The ink field can last indefinably. Chakra Cost: 5 CP Now, in real life, some inks are flammable and others are not. For example, many inks we write with in pens stopped containing alcohol in the 1950s, thus no longer being flammable. However, printer inks are extremely flammable and you'll notice the warning given on the package + storage information (away from flames and not to go past a certain temperature). I'm interested in knowing if the ink released from this jutsu would be flammable. Now in the Narutoverse, I would assume that the ink they use for writing still contains alcohol since they usually use a brush + ink.
I say this because sumi ink (which is used by the Japanese) is a type of permanent ink, like India ink. They are made from oils and soot. Sharpies are too permanent and are made up of n-butanol, which is highly flammable. With that being said, I'd assume that the ink in the jutsu is Sumi ink and not modern-day, unflammable ink.
I'd just like some clarity on this and if the ink is flammable, I think it should be noted in the description. ^^ Thank you. |

| I believe you should have the right to make it flammable, the argument is there and also valid.
On the other hand, it may be argued that it is a suiton based technique, therefore lacks the ability to ignite.
Hard choice |

| Unless the jutsu specifically says the ink bubbles are flammable, it's not flammable. You can make jutsu that create flammable bubbles, but you'll need to sacrifice some other benefit (such as the stickiness). The ink isn't man-made remember. It's created from chakra, or is an extension of the beast. The user does not pop an ink capsule, but rather uses whatever ink is available for that Bijuu. Speaking of which; I thought Ink Release was limited to the Hachibi. For future reference, the jutsu that Jinchuuriki can use are subject to heavy change in the near future, so with that in mind, that jutsu may not even be allowed once the Bijuu List is updated due to it copying the Hachibi's ink ability. I cannot give you any guarantees, since I'm not on the task of modifying the Bijuu List. |

| I understand. If that's the case, then the jutsu itself needs to be re-worded so that it isn't ink, but tar (which is black and sticky). Tar is more suitable for the Rokubi given the stench and the texture of it, but doesn't infringe upon the Hachibi's ink release. And that's fine, I figured as much. |
