| Umbara, Reikonnobu.THE INFO. Name: Umbara, Reikonnobu Nickname: Rei Age: 18 Gender: Male Appearance: Rei wears dark blue or dark black colors in his clothes, mostly a shade that blends well with the watery appearance of Kirigakure. Although this isn't perfect camoflauge they are not bright and shiny colours that would give away his position in an instant. His hair is short, couple inches long in the front while much shorter in the back; typically uncombed, he has unruley hair that spikes in different ways; and dark brown, with a somewhat black shade underneath. His eyes are dark brown too, although the center has a brighter colour near the pupil. Because he doesn't get much sun he has pale skin. He has a large scar across his chest, beginning from his collar bone on his left side going down to his hip. Another mark on his back exists horizontally across his back however it is a very light scare that is unoticable when one isn't looking for it.
He is built tall and skinny with not a lot of muscle, he isn't the body builder type and isn't going to be one. Typically off duty or when he is lazy, Rei will weak shorts that extend past his knees and a t-shirt of any color although usually dark. He is 6 feet 4 inches tall and 163 pounds (This is very skinny for those of you that don't know MBI.) He will wear a dark blue backpack or a tan pouch, never both unless he knows he needs to store a lot of things when he leaves for extended missions. He is left handed; however, the rest of his body thinks he is right handed so his right eye is better than his left and his strength is in his right arm along with his right leg. Because Rei's vision is off by a little in his left eye he wears contacts, ones that turn his eye colour to lime with the center brighter due to the natural brown colour underneath.
Forehead Protector: Forehead Personality: The best way to describe Rei is to compare him to a someone working back stage. He is protective of his emotions and doesn't like to share. He is a feeler over a thinker, meaning his morals will guide him over logic. He has difficulty standing up form himself but when someone puts down one or more of his thoughts he will often grow to dislike that person while acting completely normal about it. Most of his anger is internal conflict coming from a large belief in hi inferiority to many other shinobi. However when he cannot stay passive forever and in rare occasion he will fight back, or ague back with a vigor and distaste for whoever or whatever he is focused on, this is known commonly as 'snapping.' Rei's style of thinking is centered toward the whole picture or whole situation. He can intensely focus on details of any situation but this expends more social energy and stamina while also requiring most of his attention. He is very good with art because of this ability to see the whole of an idea. Rei likes to think in theoretical terms over the realistic when he wishes to have a friendly conservation but not everyone likes a conversation of ideas so Rei doesn't socialize with other people as much as his friends would wish. Rei also has a habit of looking and seeming very distant. To many being near him or talking to him is a bit like speaking with a brick wall.
Rei isn't aware of this defensive part of his personality and will think he is only keeping his opinion to himself instead of noticing a lack of reaction. but throughout his time as a genin Rei has adapted to a more social routine and actively seeks to explore the extroverted and social side of himself, although he will become drained of social energy after a few minutes of talking with others. Rei has difficulty with public speaking, making friends, and meeting new people for the first time. However once Rei makes a friend and becomes closer he can easily bond and maintain a loyal friendship. Rei enjoys music but doesn't listen to any as much as he use to because of the 'vengence track' he has been put on by his guilt and by his senssi. While he will typically enjoy games like Go and Monopoly he doesn't play them as often; however, he won't refuse a game. His favorite foods are sushi and shrimp. He dislikes pork and cooked vegatables. His favorite color is blue. Much of his day is spent quitly alone but he doesn't mind the time away from other people, in fact he relaly enjoys it. Clan: - Nindō: "Everyone dies one day, especially when most everyone is a shinobi. The only real way to live forever is in the hearts of those that will live after you and die after you; you'll be a part of something greater and more important than just yourself. To die is to live."
THE NINJA. Origin: water country Affiliation: Kiri Rank: Genin Specialties: Medical Ninjutsu, Ninjutsu Elemental Affinities: Fire, Water Combat Style: Rei prefers to stay anywhere from 10 feet to 20 feet away from an opponent or target. He isn't skilled at close range taijutsu because of his weaker strength, however he is better at hiding and sneaking than the average ninja due to a longer amount of practice spent in the shadows. He uses long range ninjutsu when he can take the surprise opportunity attack and will usually go for a knock out. His use of medical ninjutsu is a last resort offensively because he is better suited for healing allies. In a fight he will always keep a distance unless it's practice with a friend in such a case he is more willing to go for a close or mid range fight using less long range skills and more closer range skills. Name: Evasiveness Rank: C Type: Physical Physical Requirements: None. Training Requirements: A 600 word training post is required to gain this special characteristic. Description: The ninja trains their ability in more advanced evasive maneuvers which serves the purpose of avoiding enemy attacks. The survivability of the ninja increases as they are now capable of executing quicker flips and dodging basic forms of physical attacks by reading an enemies movement.
THE BACKGROUND. History:
- Born in Kiri. Average income family with one shinobi parents and the other staying home.
- Spent time with mother more than father and often kept away from his dad because his dad wasn't very good with kids.
- Entered the academy at age 8
- Avoided other kids because many of them were obnoxious or vain.
- Often dreamed of finding a place where there weren't any conflicts or any bullies.
- Showed a weakness for taijutsu due to lower aggressiveness and often held back when practicing taijutsu.
- Graduated at the age of 14. Put into a team with two taijustu specialized genin
- Became proficient in medical ninjutsu after recomendation by his sensei since Rei was the only genin in the team with the stomach for blood.
- Completed 5 D ranked missions in and 7 C ranked missions with his team through the next two years.
- Lost his desire to find a perfect place in the world; his sensei told him it was a foolish thing to dream of anyplace else and that Kirigakure was the only place Rei should be concernded about.
- Skipped the chuunin exams with team to better train and prepare. Went on first B ranked mission.
- The mission was guarding a small caravan through a water route around islands but sea-worthy bandits attacked them, even taking him hostage. His sensei saved him but Rei was given a lecture about how he was the weak one.
- Rei returned home with the words of his sensei left in mind. He began training in other jutsu in order to help his team.
- Enrolled in exams at the age of 16. Failed the 2nd exam because both team mates were killed by other competitors. Sensei considered Rei dishonorable for not protecting his team mates or avenging them.
- Spent the rest of the year training alone and with his sensei on occasion, vowing to avenge his friends and keep them in his heart. He stopped believing in people; instead believed that shinobi were no more than flesh to the leaders of the world. He developed a lot of hate for himself because he belived himself to be weak like his teacher often said. at this point he knew there wouldn't be a chance of learning to become confident in hs abilities.
Roleplay Sample:
If only Rei helped them instead of hiding. He would have been useful; he would have kept them from dying. Rei could not forget the dead look in Sonki's eyes or the scare in Teji's stomach. Their blood was a river that didn't stop flowing. Their blood filled the world with ten inches above the surface. Rei could not move, he could not heal their scars or close their eyes. They kept bleeding, and he would drowned. He would drowned over and over as long as he thought about them. But he would never let himself forget his friends. he could not go back on his nindo and he would never let the lives of his friends fade away. He would keep them living within him, but he couldn't get out of the blood pond. The level rose inch by inch, his nostrils filled with the dark scent and inhumane stench. He could feel the hot blood on his toes, his ankles, his calves. Soaking in blood and remorse he could do nothing but drowned, nothing but reach out for the dead bodies bleeding. He could never help them or heal them. They were dead. Then the crimson pool darkened the sky and he couldn't breath.
Rei snapped up; his back was covered in a cold sweat, both wet and freezing. He fell asleep sitting on the ground. Before he rested he was training his techniques, always trying to see what was wrong with what he was doing. If he slipped his foot the wrong way or used the wrong seal he wouldn't survive the second exam. He wouldn't live to avenge his friends as his sensei wished.
"I can't do this."he said coarsely. His voice slow and his throat croaking out his words. He felt his heart beating heavily and his lungs were burning. He couldn't rest or sleep when there was only a nightmare to dream and only death behind his closed eyelids. "Why can't I do this?" he asked.
I could have helped them then but would I have been strong enough? Would they have survived and would I have died instead? What if we didn't go? Then we would have trained longer. We would be there now instead. The three of us. But would I have been strong enough?
"Rei." His sensei said. Rei looked up, he hadn't noticed that his head drooped down. "You've been sitting for long enough." His sensei's voice was even more wispy from age.
He lost his friends too didn't he... He avenged them. But I'm not like him; I'm not strong enough to avenge anyone or even fight. Rei felt the cold earth beneath him but he expected sticky blood instead of grass. Chills seaped through his hand and into his arm then traveled to his neck. The earth was cold like the wetness of his back. He was shaking and shivering, trying to stand.
"Hustle. You're not going to help anyone going slow."
His sensei was right; he needed to keep trying even if he was weak. His friends would have been eager to move forward with instructions. Rei had to keep them alive by remembering them as they were because avenging them was the only way he could rest.

After doing the necessary hand seals, the ninja draws chakra to their lungs before swiftly exhaling it, allowing them to blow a jet of fire from their mouth. Depending on the rank at which it is performed, Endan ranges in size and heat. Starting at a moderate level of heat and a reach of up to 3m, at D rank, and increasing in temperature to an intense heat and up to a 10m reach, when performed at A rank. The ninja does the necessary hand seals, draws chakra from their mouth into their chest and them immediately exhales it. They then blow a stream of fire which erupts into a large sphere of flames. To better manage the flames the ninja will bring their hand to their mouth to control it. Chakra Cost: 5 (2 per post)
Name: Housenka no Jutsu - Mythical Fire Phoenix Technique Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: Katon (Fire) Description: Katon • Housenka no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Fire Element. The ninja does the necessary hand seals and then emits a series of small fire balls. The ninja can also hurl a projectile which is covered in these same flames. To the opponent the attack appears to be only the balls of flame, they do not see the hidden threat within the flames. Meaning that even if the flames are put out, the projectiles still converge on the target. The flames can be used to cover different projectiles like shuriken or kunai. Chakra Cost: 5
Name: Ryuuka no Jutsu - Dragon Fire Technique Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu Range: Mid (5m - 10m) Element: Katon (Fire) Description: The user breathes fire along a cord or any other type of long object, which rushes forward in straight line catching the enemy on fire. The flames are meant to target, and assault the enemy's upper body just like a projectile weapon. Chakra Cost: 5
Name: Kasumi Enbu no Jutsu - Mist Waltz Technique Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m), Mid (5m - 10m) Element: Katon (Fire) Description: After performing the necessary hand seals, the user is able to create and blow a flammable gas from their lungs. Once it comes in contact with fire or sparks, the gas ignites into a large fireball. Chakra Cost: 8

Name: Oshi Tezawari - Pressure Touch Rank: D Type: Medical Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: N/A Description: By emitting a pulse of chakra through the finger tips on the patient’s head pressure points, the user is able to relieve the headaches of any person, regardless of cause (stress, migraine, other ailments, alcohol consumption, etc.) The technique can have an offensive use as well, by altering the effects of the pressure exerted. The pressure will cause a severe headache at the target. Chakra Cost: 4
Name: Onnetsusei Nami - Thermal Wave Rank: D Type: Medical Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: N/A Description: The purpose of this technique is to return needed heat to the patient's body. The user sends a chakra wave to the patient’s chest to increase the blood flow, thus increasing the body temperature. The offensive use of this technique would be the heat wave causing the effects of a hot flash on the target. The sensation of heat usually begins in the face or chest, although it may appear elsewhere such as the back of the neck, and it can spread throughout the whole body. The heat can cause the target to feel light headed accompanied by a rapid heartbeat and sweating. The effect can last for 2-3 posts without interference. Chakra Cost: 4
Name: Seiryou Nami - Cool Wave Rank: D Type: Medical Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: N/A Description: The purpose of this technique is to cool down the temperature of an overheated body. The user sends a chakra pulse to the patient’s body, in order to open up the skin pores, pump up blood to the skin and widen the blood vessels nearest to the skin, or increase sweat production at the said area. All these effects cool down the body and make it return to normal temperatures. The offensive use of this technique would be of the similar origins, through contact the pulse emits a wave which cools the body where contacted. This effected area is no more than 40 cm in size and the affected area reacts much like any part of the body when cooled. Initial or brief contact merely cools the area, numbing it slightly to pain and reducing its speed of movement by 10%(in the case of limbs). If contact is maintained for more than one post, the limb or affected area will be further numbed and become slightly more brittle, making bones easier to break. The effects last for 2 posts after contact is broken. Chakra Cost: 4
Name: Shindan Shuhou - Diagnosis Technique Rank: C Type: Medical Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: N/A Description: After performing the needed handseals, the user releases a pulse of chakra through the patient’s body. The pulse then returns through their chakra network back into the user’s palms, giving them a mental image of where the chakra network seems to be flaring or lowering. This can give the user a better idea of the location and injury type that has been inflicted. For use in offense, this technique is capable to present a map of the opponent’s chakra network on contact which can be used to determine chakra natures and levels. Chakra Cost: 8
Name: Kisoku Kuchidashi - Airway Interference Rank: C Type: Medical Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: N/A Description: The user will focus chakra to their hands and release it to either the throat, in order to loosen the air ways, or the chest, in order to help the lungs expand. This will help the user or the patient breathe easier. A bastardized use of this technique causes the airways to constrict making it much harder for the target to breath. This technique lasts one post without continuous contact. Chakra Cost: 6 [3CP for continuous use]
Name: Karada Kuchidashi - Body Interference Rank: C-B Type: Medical Jutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: Raiton Description: After the user charges their hand with Raiton chakra they strike the body part of the desired target. At B-rank once struck it causes a muscle spasm to where the target can't control that body part for one post and can't effectively use it for one more. At C-rank it causes the afflicted body part to be less responsive to the commands from the brain for one post. For the second post, the body part is number before turning back to normal. Chakra Cost: C: 8, B: 13.
Name: Ningen Sukiningu Shuhou - Human Skinning Technique Rank: C-A Type: Medical Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: N/A Description: A medical technique used to cause external harm on the victim’s body. The user will charge chakra into their hands and will release it on the enemy’s skin upon touch. The technique will send out a wave of chakra, the damage of which depends on the user’s skill. At C Rank, the wave can cause minor cuts of a twenty centimeter radius on the target’s body. At B Rank, the victim will suffer more serious cuts and wounds (such wounds would cause no serious damage, merely require a minor case of stitches to repair) over 40 cm area of contact of their body. At A Rank, the wave is able to inflict severe cuts and flesh wounds (these wounds are serious if not treated within 10 posts and with a great deal of accuracy can damage internal organs) at a 60cm area of contact on the victim’s body, or even nearly amputate an arm through extremely deep cuts. Name: Shousen no Jutsu - Mystical Hand Technique Rank: C-A Type: Medical Ninjutsu Range: Close (0m - 5m) Element: N/A Description: Shousen Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by medical ninja. This technique allows the ninja to heal wounds by focusing their own chakra to their hands. If the higher the medical ninja's rank is the quicker they are able to heal more critical and serious injuries. Injuries of equal rank may be healed in 1 post, and completely restored in 2. If choosing to heal a wound higher than the rank of the Shousen used, it requires 2 extra posts per rank. Thus C-rank Shousen healing an A-rank wound would require 5 posts to fully heal, while a B-rank wound would require 3 posts for instance. If healing a lower-ranked wound with a higher-ranked Shousen, the wound is fully healed in one post as opposed to two. Chakra Cost: C: 8CP (2 per post), B: 12CP (4 per post), A: 20CP (6 per post)

- Please put your character rank in the name of your topic. (Kirigakure Genin)
- Your appearance is lacking in description. I'd like at least 1 - 2 more paragraphs added to it. Note that one paragraph is about 250 - 300 words.
- Add a tad bit more to his personality (you can list a few likes and dislikes), and also please separate it up a little bit so it's not just a huge block of text.
- There seems to be a broken code in your SC.
- Can you add a little bit more to the history? Is he only training for revenge now? What about some other dreams of his?
- Watch out a bit for your grammar. It's not so disastrous that I would ask you to start going through your application and fixing it, but it's not good either. Just keep in mind when you are posting to proofread your posts, and possibly use a grammatical correcting program.

| The tag is fixed. The appearance is 300+ words now. I added likes and dislikes into the paragraph as well and cut the personality block into two parts. The SC code had been fixed. The history was added to but I've never been good with histories in general. The characterization I'm looking to make will be centerd toward learning to deal with grief, finding self, and what he will do after avenging (if he manages to) his friends. As for his sensei I don't really care if he gets moved to another team becuase they are less than NPC and can die any time. My grammar always needs work and I will be proof reading more often. As for grammar mistakes in the application, I'm not sure if ther are any specific areas. |
