| MEZAMASHII,HIKARU.THE INFO.
Name: Mezamashii, Hikaru (目覚しい 光る; Literally meaning “Brilliant Light”) Nickname: | ◊ | The Red Scare | ◊ | ─ A name derived from his red hair and red eye, which tends to scare off most people due to the unusual appearance. Especially when young, children would call him rude names, usually to do with his hair color. Over time his vicious fighting style, genius tactics and cruel demeanor have coined him this fitting name. Coincidentally, his ideals are incredibly similar to those of a communist; making this name infinitely more fitting.
| ◊ | Kaminari no Kōtei | ◊ | ─ (雷の皇帝; Literally meaning “Emperor of Lightning”) Often times referred to simply as Emperor or Kōtei; this is the title he prefers to be called. Currently, only those around him refer to him by this name, and only because of their knowledge in his true intentions. The rest of the ninja village still refers to him as the Raikage, although this may change with time. Age: 32 Gender: Appearance: The Raikage is a figure that represents the power and honor of the lightning country, and the appearance of this new Raikage expresses exactly that. While shorter than the first two Raikages, Hikaru is five inches larger than the woman he replaced; being an appalling six foot, and one inch off the ground. The overall body mass is also insignificant in comparison to his predecessors, a fair 183lbs (or about 83kg) at most. What strikes him as a fierce leader is obviously not found in his stature. In fact, he’s the most out of shape Raikage to date; having only somewhat advanced leg muscles, while the rest of him is actually below par. Luckily, his main habit of fighting does not center around physical contact at all, and so Hikaru’s body doesn’t even need to be well toned and muscular like his comrades. However, the thing that does give Hikaru his leadership qualities, is his powerful political voice. A stern and strong voice capable of changing a man’s opinion in but a ten minute conversation. One that speaks with logic and reason rather than fear and hatred. This voice though, can easily be used as a means of manipulation. It gives the man credibility yet unseen in the political world.
Where Hikaru fails at being physically intimidating, he succeeds at being alluring to women. His reflective scarlet red hair and heterochromic eyes are the two main aspects that help him project to audiences, while his well groomed face, narrow cheekbones, sharp chin and handsome facial structure keep the ladies staring. This combination gives him a look that’s the exact opposite of intimidating, even with a red eye and yellow eye easily being thought of as evil in many cultures. His charm sometimes even deludes people from noticing these strange oculi, and many are surprised when they notice it later on. The Raikage’s hair however, is the most prominent feature. It is what identifies and separates him from the rest of the ninja around him, and what gives him the final touch to his impressive appearance. The simple way it appears to be both groomed and messy can leave a person staring for unexpected amounts of time, and ends up being the main selling point with the ladies. While the more conservative ninja dislike this odd color, they can’t help but agree that red’s ulterior symbol for confidence and power give the man an ever increasing public appeal.
Now the Raikage tends to wear separate personas when adventuring. He recently invented a very illusive seal which gives him a far superior version to the original Henge no Jutsu. While this seal is active, the male is able to disguise himself with features that could easily mask his true identity, at a rather measly cost. Many call this paranoia, but Hikaru sees this as a means of keeping his enemies on their toes. Hikaru himself has done some very immoral things, and plans to do plenty more of them. Thus he fully realizes that he may not be the only one conducting such acts. To him, it is simply a safety precaution, however, these ‘personas’ of his are perfect for skipping town without a soul noticing. The height, weight and body structure of the personas all remain the same as Hikaru’s (Including battle scars and tattoos), but the face and hair are drastically changed for each persona. After all, that’s how people identify one another the best. Each persona has a different purpose, and thus a different appearance. They are as such:
- Noro - His youngest looking persona, having long green hair which is usually tied up behind his back, and hidden under his cap. It’s visible around his face more so than his actual head. The face of this persona is very different from Hikaru’s, looking more like a free spirit than a lost soul, which the blue eyes seem to calmly complement. This persona is used for adventuring the world; whether it be all of the Ninja Nations, or just Kaminari no Kuni. He goes around as more of an embassador than a fighter, and will almost never engage in actual combat when adventuring, unless intentionally provoked. This is the most detailed of his personas, as Hikaru always carries bundles of paperwork to get through locations in a breeze.
- Shizoru - His ‘playboy’ persona. This one is designed to be exceptionally handsome in the face (more so than Hikaru’s natural beauty), and with his blonde-hair and blue eyes, he’s a star with the ladies. This persona is the only one not to wear a headband or any method of identification, mainly because it is his play time persona. He almost never uses this persona for anything other than playing hooky or hooking up with women, but when he does, the innocence of this persona makes it nearly impossible for the enemy to detect him. He blends in so perfectly with his clothing arrangement and appearance, one could easily lose him in a crowd.
- Aoko - His ‘warrior’ persona. This one has rugged blue hair and golden eyes, while his face is almost completely hidden by his outfit. In fact the only parts that show are the eyes and hair, due to his outfit being entirely black, like that of an ANBU ninja or assassin. This is in fact the same uniform he wore during his adventures as an KYOBU member, being a completely black shroud that covers the entire body; with a single visible weapon (being a Katana). This persona is more used for spying and fighting, and acts as Hikaru’s ‘bodyguard’ most of the time. That is, Hikaru will either transform into this persona and use a shadow clone to act as the real him, or transform the shadow clone into this persona while he’s in the actual line of fire.
These personas each wear their own style of clothing (not created by the jutsu), however the redhead himself wears different, more royally suited clothing. When in public, making speeches, talking to his fellow villagers, or presenting himself to anyone Hikaru figures is ‘beneath him’, the male will dress like a king. Wearing a very fine white silk robe with the Kumogakure imprint in black and a decoration of several blue-gray drifting clouds to represent Kumogakure. This robe is complemented by what looks like a royal kimono, giving Hikaru the image of an incredibly royal man, even though he comes from no such noble blood. This kimono varies in appearance due to the large wardrobe Hikaru keeps hidden away. However, when not trying to present himself as a God, the Raikage wears a more durable cloak, having the same appearance as the silk one, although being made of cheaper material. Along with this cloak is a more Jounin-based uniform, although it’s still unique to the Raikage. The attire being completely black and gray, with a white Kumo imprint across the chest, and several locations to store his gear. When alone or not around company; usually only when confined to his room, Hikaru rarely wears any clothing at all, preferring to walk around with only Boxers and oftentimes a T-shirt. This isn’t a very safe habit for him, but when in front of close comrades, he knows when to put on at least some casual attire. Forehead Protector: Because many people recognized him as the Raikage, Hikaru refuses to wear a forehead protector at all. However, his Raikage cloak is marked with the Kumogakure insignia, and his right shoulder has the Kumogakure symbol tattooed on it. His alternate personas however two of his three alternate personas wear a forehead protector. Aoko wears it around his neck like a scarf, along with the rest of the dark ninja attire. The scarf seems to blend in perfectly. Noro wears his around his shoulder, although occasionally placing it on his forehead during combat. Shizoru, being the more ‘adventurous’ of his personas, doesn’t wear the headband as this persona itself is meant for deception and cover. The persona also never enters combat, but is perfect for blending into a crowd. Personality: The Raikage has a very interesting personality for someone designed to lead. He’s both prone to corruption and emotional instability, yet his resilience and determination are the very things that seem to define him. This very determination can easily be mistaken for arrogance and an increasingly obvious superiority complex, however the male only does this out of his core beliefs. Growing up relying primarily on his own physical prowess has made him a bit insensitive and cold hearted when it comes to serious issues. He’s not afraid to be incredibly blunt with a person, crack jokes at funerals or even insult those who seem to be praising him. This personality of his makes the Raikage seem to be an enormous, ‘dick’ for lack of a better word. Alas, this is just his outside personality. Like every other person, the onion of a mask he wears is near infinitely thick. Few have ever gotten a sensitive remark from Hikaru, and even fewer have received praise from him. Now this may seem insensitive and rude, but Hikaru doesn’t believe in giving people free gratitude. One must earn respect and attribution, rather than be given it out of pity or simple existence. Thus even a simple comment such as “Good job” can hold immense value to whoever receives it.
While he is an enormous prick with a skyscraper sized ego and the superiority complex of a God, Hikaru does also have some flaws in his seemingly perfect personality. At times, he can be incredibly lazy and carefree, to the point that many begin to question whether or not he’s a suitable leader. However, all doubts are usually thrown away when Hikaru speaks. His voice has an earthquake like effect, garnering everyone’s attention in mere instance, and separating the weak willed from the strong spirited. Not only is his voice powerful enough to get into the head of a man without even using a Genjutsu, but the simple way in which he talks is a clear sign of leadership. Never doubting a thing, always optimistically looking forward, providing hope with no studer, and lying through his teeth so well that under Genjutsu, even the most experienced would have trouble doubting his tales. This inspirational voice is perfect for two things. Negotiating deals with his fellow council, and rallying up his village and country. Often times, when he feels his voice would not be enough, he may be inclined to throw in a genjutsu or two to gain more support, however these instances are very rare. As much as it seems that Hikaru loves his country, his true feelings are much more selfish.
Many may wonder why Hikaru has such a difficult complex; and the answer is actually very simple. At a young age he learned his own version of the ‘meaning of life’. He is a strong believer of the “Will to Power” philosophy, and the idea that our world is separated into two groups of people. Those who are born to lead, and those who are born to follow. Hikaru took this belief a step further, and rationalized that he was the only true leader. He was the only one who could bring the world of Shinobi into a lasting peace, and that everyone around him was simply a tool for manipulation, or an obstacle he simply had to overcome. While this is an incredibly selfish belief, it has miraculously guided him through the journeys of his life. Being an incredibly logical thinker, and relying solely on his own abilities, has given him the determination to work hard and become the Raikage that he is today. And while this core belief is still implanted deeply into his personality, it is not something that is ever revealed to the public, nor does he ever have a tendency to preach about his ideas. He is a logical man after all, he knows very well that sharing this information with others would only give him a more arrogant appearance.
This may just seem like an excuse for his behavior, however there is one other factor to add to the equation. His actual intelligence. Many in the ninja world tend to look at things from a black and white perspective. This is common in virtually all cases. It is what starts wars, and why the peace treaties last for only a short while. However, Hikaru prides himself on being a man who sees only gray. He realizes the differences between cultures, understands what causes conflicts, and knows that nothing is ever just black and white. Many intelligent men have figured this out for themselves, but what distinguishes Hikaru from the rest is his logical thought process. Since he entered his teens, Hikaru has been a massive book worm. Always reading new books the came out, studying up on information his ancestors wrote about, and having the insatiable craving to learn more and more. What actually inspired his lust for knowledge is unimportant, but what is important is what he did with this lust. Always reading books and overflowing his mind with information has pretty much blockaded away any sentimental and emotional values he had. It is not that he chooses to be an asshole, but rather, he has no choice. He never listens to his emotions, never acknowledges instinct, and always thinks things through before doing it. His advanced intelligence simply allows him to do this many times quicker than a normal man, and therefore retain much more wisdom in the same period of time.
However, Hikaru is not at all a serious man. He may have serious emotional issues, and many strict codes of conduct, but he never acts this way. Around anyone for that matter. It is simply not the man he is. His ego and optimism are what contribute to his carefree and luxurious lifestyle. By having loads of self determination, he simply has nothing to fear. Now, that’s not saying he has no fears. He does have those, but his only materialistic fear is that of insects. He does not even fear death, for he understands life is about accomplishing what one can while they are around, remorsing over death is just another sign of weakness which he cannot behold. Now these other fears of his, are more revolved around him not finishing the task he has been given. This isn’t a shallow idea such as forgetting to sign a few peace treaties. No, this is on a fundamental level. Hikaru’s greatest fear is that he won’t have enough time to accomplish his lifetime goals, and is the only thing that ever keeps him up at night. His insatiable fear of insects hardly comes close to paralleling this fear, even though he does go a bit psycho at the sight of bugs.
Now Hikaru, is a very adventurous soul. Even since he was little, he loved travelling. He’s actually travelled to several nations in the past (mostly for KYOBU missions). He is not at all a workaholic. In fact, Hikaru devotes his weekends to simply partying, hooking up with girls, or attending local festivals just to have some fun. Sometimes it’s with one of his personas, while other times the Raikage ventures off on his own. The latter is very rare, as even the smallest scandal would ruin his reputation, however his naturally paranoid instincts can get him out of trouble where he sees fit. The man is so easygoing though, that he doesn’t even take serious threats, seriously. Many of his peers tend to hype up a situation beyond reasonable proportions, however Hikaru is quick to notice these troublesome exaggerations, and is oftentimes the first to call them out on their ignorance. He enjoys explaining philosophy, science and even politics to those who wish to listen. His social life is also ever expanding. One of his personas has managed to build up a reputation of being a playboy, sleeping with women on a regular basis and sneaking into brothels late at night. Hikaru is a man with many outlooks on life, very few ever seeming too grim.
Ironclad and Adamant are two things Hikaru was called during his KYOBU years. Many would refer to him by this manner, because he seemed nearly invincible. He rarely ever lost a spar (and when he came close to losing one, he cleverly managed to play out some sort of accident that would otherwise delay the match), and seemed virtually invincible. Now, that’s not to say he has no weaknesses. In fact, his biggest weakness is something completely unrelated to combat. The thirty-two year old Raikage actually seems to have a soft side for, well, cute things. Whether it be adorably shaped pastries, cute animals or small people, he will simply fall in metaphorical love with them. When it comes to people, this weakness becomes even more evident. His captivation of adorable things makes him incredibly trusting of these very things, and could easily lead to his demise should an adorable assassin come and attempt to kill him. Even though he simply can’t say no to such things, he does have a brain. After only five or six backstabs will he finally realize the malicious intentions of this cute artifact. Since Hikaru views malicious intentions to be very un-cute, the infatuation is usually lost, and the male has no remorse getting back at the foe.
As for his actual fighting personality, it’s not very different from his usual personality. When in combat with any regular foe, he’ll remain carefree and usually toy with his enemy, not really having any attempt to kill them. In fact, whenever he measures someone to be weaker than him, his main strategy is to simply ‘wait it out’. He knows that the enemy would have far more to prove, and would therefore try harder. Using a bit of psychology and manipulative words, the Raikage can actually force the enemy into exhaustion by simply playing defensive and annoying. However, things become very different when the Raikage acknowledges a credible foe. The carefree attitude may show itself at the beginning, primarily to judge his enemy’s capabilities, but once it is confirmed that the foe is not one to be messed with, Hikaru becomes the ruthless killing machine that’s garnered his nickname. His fighting style is incredibly bloody, not not in a literal sense. He’s just incredibly twisted mentally. He loves watching his enemies slowly suffer at his own hands, and will draw out a battle for as long as possible, simply to soak in their agony. Even when losing, Hikaru will never try to simply win a fight. Instead, he will continue to torture his victims using his speech, genjutsu and fuuinjutsu. Such a malicious intent is one to be reckoned with.
Now, there are many, many more parts of Hikaru’s personality to explore, but these are the simplest to put on paper. Anymore and his complexities would outweigh his interesting features. As such, a simple list of his passions, likes, dislikes, and hobbies will be presented to those who wish to get to know Hikaru better. This information is however not something everyone will know, but is usually something one can expect Hikaru to share should he actually show interest in another person. [list]Likes: Women, Reading, Fighting Dislikes: Hypocrites, Listening to people’s complaints, Doing nothing. Favorite Book: Any novel written by Uzumaki Robin, the great writer from Konoha. THE NINJA.
Origin: Affiliation: Rank: Raikage (雷影; Lightning Shadow) Specialties: { Fuuinjutsu | Genjutsu } Elemental Affinities: Combat Style: Hikaru’s style of combat is a little more sadistic than most. Being one who specializes in two arbitrary styles of combat, those being Fuuinjutsu and Genjutsu, it is very difficult to have a straightforward battle with another ninja. Fuuinjutsu is an art that revolves around sealing and unsealing various techniques, moves and items; however Hikaru’s usage of the technique is a bit more advanced. Using a complex and unique style of creating seals akin to the modern day “binary code”, Hikaru is able to create very compact seals to accomplish things that much larger seals would require. Though this may not seem very useful, it does allow Hikaru to place what would otherwise be giant S-rank seals, on simple note cards. With this unique ability, he can surprise enemies easily with his Fuuinjutsu, and otherwise use a supplementary skill for offense and defense. To him, it is as useful, if not more useful than using Ninjutsu.
While his Fuuinjutsu tactics being used for combat aren’t uncommon, what differentiates it from regular Fuuinjutsu is its overall usage. Hikaru has managed to mix Genjutsu and Fuuinjutsu to create what he coins “Fungus” jutsu (FUuiNjutsu + GenjUtSu). More of a gag than an actual title, he prefers to taunt his enemies by announcing he will use his “Fungus powers” to win. This of course leads to many misconceptions among his enemies, and further help fortify his Genjutsu illusion. In fact, one of his Genjutsu mediums is “Fungus”. The fighting style itself is very complex though. Revolving around the usage of Fuuinjutsu to secure the perimeter, and then Genjutsu to subdue the enemy, lock them in a trance, and further torment them. After all, Hikaru loves torturing those he fights, prolonging the fight as long as possible just to squeeze every bit of agony out of them. His goal is not to win, but rather, to humiliate his opponents into surrender. By making them squeal and beg for mercy, and then continue to torture them. Sometimes, Hikaru will extend a fight for an hour, just to get his point across. The reason he can do this, is because of this Fungus fighting style. By mixing the two different specialties, he can consume a very small amount of chakra (compared to many Ninjutsu users), and maintain long-lasting, simple illusions. Most of this is done through extended area-of-effect seals; and seals that act as the Genjutsu medium.
His final method of combat is strictly Genjutsu. This is a very rare style for him, because of his general fondness of the Fungus style. The Genjutsu-only style is reserved mainly for high-power gen techniques, usually ranging in the A and S-ranks (Most of his Fungus Genjutsu are B-rank and below). When using these Genjutsu, he tends to exhaust his chakra supply quickly, but still dealing handsome amounts of damage to his enemy’s psyche. Many of these Genjutsu include pretending to be a God, summoning a God, performing vicious and painful acts, and overall confusing the enemy to the point of submission. Like his Fungus style, this also revolves around torture and humiliation, rather than quickly ending the job. After his time in KYOBU, he has since enjoyed combat enough to prolong it as much as possible; taking this theory to heart in his sexual practices as well. | - Pre-Birth:
It may come as a surprise to many that events actually occurred prior to HIkaru’s birth, but the ones leading up to his creation are really the only important ones. His creation may surprise people though. His parents, unlike many others, were never killed in a great war, nor were they bad parents, abusive, neglective, and many other melodramatic scenarios don’t really apply to Hikaru’s family. Their story is a little more modern than that.
Hikaru’s mom, Nazami Mezamashii, was a sixteen year old shop clerk. Her hair was a beautiful blonde, her face sculpted from pure porcelain, and her body shaped to attract even the most feminine of men. Many accuse her of giving Hikaru his gorgeous face, and very tone build. So it was no surprise that she had many men seeking her company, regardless of her still illegal age. She did lack one key thing to being the perfect woman. She wasn’t very bright. Having had very little education due to her mother’s inability to afford school, and the father’s young death; Nazami was secluded to the confines of the shop. Usually only picking up what little knowledge and wisdom she could from her mother. Because of this, she didn’t really make a great mother. At least not at a young age.
Hikaru’s father was very different. Satoshi Uzumaki was regarded as a prodigy amongst his peers. Having become a Jounin at the age of nineteen, he was the youngest Jounin in the five years prior. Many have proposed that his network of connections were what got him there, but in reality, these connections were more negative than positive. Being bred with the red hair of the Uzumaki, and astonishingly unimpressive looks, along with a very arrogant attitude, it was difficult for him to actually make friends. He also found himself hanging around elders more than peers, and such gained a reputation for being a bit of a suck-up. Whether this is true or not is hardly a thought that ever crosses Hikaru’s mind; since his father ended up being one of his largest idols. What did grant him the rank however, was his astonishing perceptive and intellectual abilities, along with a very keen fighting style that revolved around stealth more than direct confrontation. A true ninja in every sense.
The simple meeting of these two very different people was a miracle. Satoshi, on his way home from a recently completed mission. Tired, exhausted, and not nearly in the mood to actually go shopping, he was forced into the idea by a colleague of his. Guilt trips always seemed to work on Satoshi, but this was one of those times where it benefited him more than his friend. Nazami at the time, was just cleaning around the shop. It was technically her day off, although the shop never really had a day off. Being owned by her mother, Nazami was the only other person who worked there. When Satoshi first walked in, Nazami was not impressed. He acted cool, tried his best not to stare at her beauty, and complimented her whenever he could to flirt a little. Things almost every man did with Nazami around. What Nazami was interested in though, was Satoshi’s friend. He was incredibly handsome, and a real lady’s man for his time. Coincidentally, he was also about twenty four. Way too old for the little girl that was Nazami. As such, none of Nazami’s flirts seemed to work on the man, which only made her want him more.
Satoshi’s friend was a generous man though. He knew that Satoshi had his eye on the girl, and as such, ‘scheduled’ a little get together for the two of them. When she asked for his phone number; he gave her Satoshi’s instead. Since everyone on the other end of the phone sounded the same at the time, it was impossible for her to realize that night, that it was Satoshi she was talking to. After spending a few hours talking to each other over the phone, the two scheduled a date. It came to Nazami’s surprise that the man she spent hours talking to over the phone, was not the one she was interested in. To avoid being rude though, she decided to have the date anyway. After learning more about each other that night, the two of them eventually headed back to his home, and hooked up. It’s safe to mention now, that this was her first time, unlike Satoshi’s. As such, like any virgin, she became a bit clingy over him. After a few more weeks of going out, and of course having more ‘hook ups’, Nazami was declared pregnant. This was great news to her mother, but very ill news for Nazami herself.
Over the course of the next nine months, instead of bailing like many men would have done at that point, Satoshi stood by her. Whether it was out of guilt, the fact that she was underage, or that he simply felt sorry for her, was never made clear. However it was something Satoshi would have never done in the past. Maybe the new job was giving him a greater sense of justice.
Like many other children, Hikaru was born nine months after his conception date; or a little over that amount. It was a week before Nazami’s 17 birthday that he was born. June Fifth marked the first day of the bastard child’s statutory-rape induced life. The child was truly blessed. He took the looks from his mother and the intelligence of his father. He also stole his father’s red hair, which he gained lots of unconstructive criticism for later in life.
- Early Years:
A week after Hikaru’s birthday was the marriage of his mother and father. The child was an obvious pain in the ass, but at least the two of them had the help of Nazami’s mother. Satoshi was a ninja after all. He was constantly taking on missions to support the family, and was unable to be around most of the time. He did love HIkaru though, and took whatever days off he could to spend time with the kid. While not the perfect father a child could have, Hikaru was never picky, nor did he really mind. All through his early life, Hikaru lived decently. The shop was supplying income, the constant conflicts with minor nations helping fund Satoshi’s Jounin missions. All was well until Hikaru turned four. Maybe it was just an unlucky year for everyone, but it seemed the economic standards dropped. Several peace treaties were signed, and it seemed that Satoshi was getting fewer and fewer assignments. Even though his job wasn’t the main source of income, it was still about 40% of the daily earnings for the household. When that took a hit, most of the family felt it as well. Save Hikaru of course, who was still dumbfounded by rainbows and celery.
Satoshi’s lack of a job didn’t really affect how often he was around. Nazami began to suspect Satoshi being unfaithful, and over the course of the next year, Hikaru was constantly stuck listening to their bickering. After a three year marriage, the two eventually broke apart. It wasn’t her idea of course. She was still madly in love with Satoshi, however he didn’t feel the same for her anymore. It seemed the qualities he was infatuated with before, had grown stale to him. And while he did leave his wife, he tried to remain in Hikaru’s life as much as he could. Actually, more than he did when he was the legitimate father. He would often come over just to play some simple games with Hikaru, and tried his best not to hold a grudge against the family. Hikaru’s grandmother hated him for leaving Nazami; since divorces at the time usually isolated women from the market. Nazami however didn’t mind Satoshi being around. Probably because she still had some strong feelings for him.
Over the course of a couple years, Satoshi would constantly come over to play games with Hikaru. Whether it be ninja hide-and-seek; Shogi, Go, tag, checkers, western chess, and any other game one can list. Many of these games were strategically oriented, while the others were designed to keep Hikaru in shape and improve his stealth abilities. The ninja hide-and-seek helped improve his perceptive abilities greatly, especially when Satoshi cheated and used high-ranking ninja jutsu to remain undetected. By the time Hikaru was eight years of age, he built up a better relationship with his father than his mother, who was beginning to dislike Satoshi for this very reason. Satoshi taught Hikaru many things, but none of these were actual ninja skills. Satoshi knew first hand the dangers of being a ninja, and did his best to shroud Hikaru from it. He hoped the child would become a doctor or lawyer, and thus forced him to read as many books as he could. The games that he played were also done to improve his intelligence, and information gathering skills, of course the hide-and-seek being more a fun game than a teaching lesson.
Satoshi was an enormous influence on Hikaru, and as you may have guessed: he died. Not from natural causes, or from old age, but from the most cliche death in the ninja world: assassination. Yes, when he was on a mission to the Rice Field Country, one of the rival ninja killed him. This incident actually sparked a pseudo war between the rice country and lightning country, however this was quickly quelled before it got out of hand. Knowing full well they couldn’t actually take on Kumo’s forces, the country apologized sincerely. Now Hikaru had no idea who killed his father, simply that the man died. It wasn’t until much later in life that he was told this news, but by then any grudge he may have formed for the country had completely vanished. The death of his father did however greatly affect the child. Only ten years old when this happened, he now seemed to be completely lost in life. Over the next few years he’d go through various stages of depression, but this very depression also somehow motivated him. In hopes of ‘avenging’ his father’s death, he began to study more, challenge anyone he could in mind games, practice his ninja skills, and eventually join the ninja academy. And while he did a great job in the written portion of the final exam; his actual ninja skills were sub-par. Hikaru graduated top of his class in sheer knowledge, but somewhere around ‘normal’ in actual fighting skills. This clearly identified him as the bookworm type among his elders, and as such weren’t really expecting him to prove his worth anytime soon. Hikaru remained outside of an actual assigned Genin squad for some time, none of his elders actually placing him anywhere. At the time he didn’t really mind either, as his depressive state was only getting worse.
Being an annoying and depressed pre-teen from ten to twelve years of age, Hikaru decided to rebel from society. He would frequently steal from local markets small trinkets and candies, and occasionally even a scroll or two. This was how he began to show an interest in Genjutsu. Prior to this little rebel phase of his, his only thought was to gain revenge on whoever happened to have killed his father. He wasn’t a very smart kid at the time, never once questioning who this person might in fact be, or how he would deal with him. However, once he began his thieving expeditions, he began to pick up various knowledge in trickery. That eventually lead to the discovery of Genjutsu, and the understanding that it was an art revolved entirely around fooling his enemies. While stealing and studying scrolls did influence his mind to study around Fuuinjutsu, it wasn’t until much later that he grew keen of Fuuinjutsu on its own. From this point on, he preferred Genjutsu above all other skills, even neglecting core abilities in Ninjutsu and Taijutsu. This further lowered his reputation amongst his peers and elders, as they only further began to believe he was just a bookworm not cut out for being a ninja.
Upon turning the age of eleven, Hikaru discovered that his mother was getting remarried. Shocked that she would find someone so quickly after Satoshi had died, Hikaru began to resent her and the new stepfather. His resentment went to the point where he actually began to fail missions on a regular basis. He would even skip out on his Genin duties, his superiors often threatening his job title several times over the course of that year alone; though none of these threats ever upholding because of the child’s prodigious mental capabilities and cunning. His slacking actually became very serious. At one point, he began spending his entire day locked away in his room reading his books; finding it to be his only escape from the misery that surrounded him. It was not just his life that sickened him, but the life of others as well. He began to develop very early individualistic thoughts, and started to look upon society itself in a negative sense. Obviously resembling a tedious emo-kid of today’s age, Hikaru wasn’t as radical as to harm himself to relieve the ‘pain’, however he did isolate himself from most of the world. He even avoided his mother’s remarriage ceremony due to spite and his own depressed nature, which didn’t seem to be going so well.
About a year after his parents were married and after Hikaru turned twelve, Nazami announced that she was pregnant with another child. At this point, Hikaru knew full well what sex was, and the thought of his mother and stepfather together made him literally sick. But not sick in the sense of physical illness. Hikaru ‘snapped’ as many psychologists call it. On a blind rage, the male verbally thrashed his mother for being ‘unfaithful’, and began to fabricate lies which he believed to be truths. What shocked his mother more was when Hikaru physically assaulted her. Even though he was a ninja, he was unable to overpower his civilian stepfather. Although, Hikaru still did some permanent damage to his mother. The child that she was carrying died from the physical trauma of Hikaru’s actions, which only pained him more.
After vomiting for several minutes after this random rage fit, Hikaru left the house to ‘cool off’. In this tantrum, he managed to pickpocket a drunk Jounin, and steal from him an A-rank mission. This mission entailed the retrieval of a kidnapped child, from a camp full of missing ninja. The ranking of these ninja was unknown, and as such the mission was classed as A-rank. What Hikaru didn’t realize, was that this would be the first mission he ever took for the KYOBU forces. The village’s most prestigious assassination squad. Unaware of the danger that faced him, he trekked to the outskirts of the city, and eventually into the countryside itself. On his journey, he had to stop by several farms and villages to ask for directions, and it ended up taking him fourteen straight hours of trekking to find the kidnappers’ den.
Exhausted and no longer in a tantrum, Hikaru was already beginning to regret his decision. He no longer had the same spirit and anger as he did a mere fourteen hours prior; and was simply left with no shelter in the middle of an awkwardly situated forest. One illuminated by the glow of a campfire and the inaudible sounds of people conversing. This was the first time he ever went on such a dangerous mission, and one he knew close to nothing about. He was even scared he’d get caught by these unranked ninja, hoping greatly that he wasn’t making any noise. Having gone this far, and determined to prove his worth (along with having no idea how to get back), he decided to stalk out the Missing Ninja until they fell asleep.
Two hours and a short nap later, the campfire was only a smoulder of ash; and the missing ninja were all asleep in their tents. It was worrisome to Hikaru that there was no one stationed outside in the case of an attack; as if they had such confidence in their hiding spot that they’d never be found. Quite ironic when a Genin such as Hikaru found it with minimal difficulty. Either way, his voyage into the camp only lasted a moment or two, before he got caught ushering away the kidnapper. Now faced with four annoyed Missing Ninja, and an annoying kidnap victim who refused to leave; HIkaru wasn’t in the best of situations.
After managing to hold them off for what felt like hours, but was actually a minute or two; Hikaru collapsed from exhaustion. His strengths were in Genjutsu after all, but such weak techniques couldn’t hope to defeat opponents of such calibur as those in front of him. Lucky for Hikaru though, the Jounin who took up the mission had managed to track down the little kid. In a swift blur, the four distracted Missing Ninja were knocked back, giving Hikaru the opportunity to flee.
He was running for at least twenty minutes; dragging the kidnap victim along for the ride; as resilient as the idiot may have been. He had probably developed some form of Stockholm syndrome, but Hikaru didn’t want any of his nonsense. After arriving at a local village, he rested for the night; until eventually leaving for Kumo in the morning. Upon arrival, he was given both praise and and criticism; however in the end he became rather famous throughout the higher ranked ninja. Hikaru, never saw the Jounin who helped him escape. Whether he died with the Missing Ninja, or was given strict reassignment orders for letting a child steal a highly classified mission cannot be certain. The absence of the man has plagued Hikaru for decades to come.
That very night, HIkaru began to rethink his actions and lifestyle. Being a slacker was fun, but being defeated in such a short time span against those ninja really annoyed him. He hated being weak, and began to strive for excellence. He continued to learn Genjutsu, trying more and more difficult ones as time went on, and keeping to his actual studies. His teens became one of the defining eras of his life.
- Adolescence:
Thirteen now, Hikaru’s life steered away from depression. He rarely complained about how depressing his life was, and instead began to work heavily in his studies. His interest in Fuuinjutsu began to rise a bit more as he filled his mind with various new Genjutsu and miscellaneous knowledge. The books he read weren’t very light either. They were all about Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, World History, Politics, Economics, Psychology and the like. He tried his best to avoid medicine and biology, for the sole reason that it bored him to death. It was never in his best interest as to why the human body functioned the way it did. His eyes were more on why the world functioned the way it did. Because he spent most of his time reading and learning as opposed to socializing with others, he became a little anti-social and awkward to be around.
This constant studying did pay off. By learning all of this information in great depth, he was also awakening his intelligent responses. To read and learn something is simple; but to truly understand it is what made Hikaru so brilliant. As brilliant as he was becoming though, his personal issues were still there. He still hated his stepfather, and the man hated Hikaru as well; however instead of lashing out at his parents, Hikaru just began to ignore them. Ignore them to the point where he only saw them to eat breakfast. He could have gone out to eat Breakfast like he did dinner and lunch, but he had to admit that his mother made some tasty food in the morning.
After another year of just studying and waiting, a slot for a genin squad finally opened for Hikaru. It was the first squad he’d ever be in, and his only hopes were that his teammates were at least somewhat good at fighting. He also hoped to have some sort of mentor that could replace his father to help the struggling boy improve with his training. None of these wishes were ever fulfilled though. he was teamed up with an incredibly cute girl who didn’t really seem like the type to go out in combat, and a young newbie who just graduated at the top of his class in both jutsu and knowledge. What angered Hikaru the most about this new comrade of his, was the guy’s arrogance. He was born with a rather rare Kekkei Genkai that originated from the Kaguya family. This placed him on an unfair edge against Hikaru, whenever the time came for them to spar. His kekkei genkai was also a favorite of their new sensei, which only agitated Hikaru further. What he hoped to be his mentor, only focused on Hikaru’s comrade, which strengthened but a single part of their team; while him and the girl who seemed to fancy the all-star were left in the dust.
It was truly a nightmare to be in the squad, however joining this squad opened up many opportunities for Hikaru. He was now able to socialize with people much more often, even though he sucked at conversations altogether. Meeting with other team members also introduced him to parties and club events, which he took every opportunity to join just so he could hope to meet some interesting people. He was still antisocial, but since his breakthrough mental phase, he managed to gain more courage to go outside and socialize. It wasn’t his favorite thing to do, but he knew he had to fix his life before becoming a more responsible person. And so, this was the beginning of his ‘clubbing’ age; where his schedule began to drastically change. It went from “Study, do mission, study, sleep.” to “Do Mission, study, party, sleep.”, As time passed, his studies and sleep began to become the bare minimum.
There was one night that changed Hikaru’s perspective on partying, women, and reality in itself. During a party one night, his drunk self met up with one of the rival ninja’s members. After hanging out and finding the ‘interesting features’ amongst one another, the two eventually hooked up at Hikaru’s house. His parents were asleep by then, but they would have hardly cared either way. After sleeping together, Hikaru awoke with a blistering headache and a rather clingy girl next to him. He didn’t actually like her at all, and was actually confused why he went for her earlier that day. Regardless, his escape failed, proving he still needed help being a ninja. After she bitched and complained for several minutes; the way clingy girls do, he eventually managed to get out of there in time. Over the course of that week, he’d constantly see her, and each time try to hide from her view; in hopes of her not stalking and assaulting him. By the end of the week, news came to him that she died on a B-rank mission with her Jounin-sensei, who seemed to be infatuated with one of the enemies. Regardless, Hikaru began to feel bad; but that emotion quickly vanished once he went to another party that night. This was when he first began to grow very selfish.
Shortly after his fifteenth birthday were the Chuunin Exam registrations. Because his sensei had high hopes of the Kaguya, he signed up the three of them for the exams. Their teamwork had been improving over time, however it mainly revolved around supporting the kaguya during combat. Hikaru would use Genjutsu to distract; the girl, Miya, acting as the healing and support, and the Kaguya who’s name escapes Hikaru to this day, doing all of the actual work. They would endlessly hear nonsense from him and the sensei about not helping out much; but since they were the sideline characters to the Kaguya’s great show, the complaints began to annoy Hikaru enough to simply ignore his sensei’s orders from then on.
The first exam of the Chuunin exams, was of course a written one. Hikaru had literally no trouble on this one, and was the first of the entire student body to finish it. His teammates seemed to struggle a bit, but with Hikaru’s improved usage of Genjutsu, he was able to ‘project’ the answers for Miya. He ignore his rude Kaguya friend during the exams, since the guy seemed to gloat a lot anyway, no help should have been required. Needless to say, Hikaru and Miya scored the highest out of the entire student body (thanks to Hikaru), and his Kaguya friend was near the middle with the rest of them. This constituted Hikaru’s first official victory over the guy, proving once and for all that he was definitely more clever and intelligent. He still didn’t get the respect he deserved, but just the knowledge of winning was enough to boost Hikaru’s confidence.
The next part of the Chuunin exams was survival. It was to begin in a week, and Hikaru knew he couldn’t party during this time. He had to devote his time to studying and trying to pass. Because the sensei stuck with the arrogant Kaguya, Hikaru would have to either work by himself, or with Miya. At the time, working with his partner seemed like a much better alternative. The two began to train. Hikaru helped her out with her Taijutsu and medical skills (he still happened to have read some medical books in passing, even though he hated the subject), while she acted as a sort of “dummy” for his Genjutsu techniques. During their week long training journey, Hikaru and Miya ended up kissing a total of one time; and by sheer accident. This was the first time Hikaru had ever actually kissed a girl directly; even though he was far from a virgin.
Their relationship grew a bit more when they were isolated in the Kumogakure mountains for an entire week. The two would hang out together more than with the Kaguya, and Miya seemed to have lost all interest in the once all-star. He was a bit of a dick to the two of them anyway, whether it was jealousy or just arrogance was never clear though. They managed to survive this week with ease, and were actually the second most successful of the teams that went out there. The only ones that surpassed them were a group of genin known as the “Bloodline Squad.” The name was appropriately granted, as all three of them had some sort of powerful bloodline ability which helped them. Having succeeded the second trial of the Chuunin Exams, the entire team was relieved to have even won. Next up was the final Chuunin Exam; which was of course the all out battle.
Twelve total Genin had survived these trials, and were now set to be pitted against one another. The first rounds were all going to be 3 way battles against one another. This was to teach the Genin that they’d need to make friends with enemies, and fight unfair battles. The training for this session was given a month, in which Genin were explicitly prohibited from doing missions. Once again, Hikaru was left with Miya to train, while the Kaguya went with their sensei. This was becoming very annoying to Hikaru, and the male crowned the Kaguya as a rival. if he couldn’t beat him, he didn’t deserve to be a Chuunin at all.
Either way, the match for Hikaru would have been a piece of cake. He just needed to practice his Genjutsu skills, and have the two ninja fight each other; then isolate the last one and finish things off. This was his strategy at least. It was simple and clean, however the specifics of the strategy couldn’t really be predicted. Hikaru would have had to come up with something in the spur of the moment. Miya’s strategy was more of a support-tank. She would try to make friends with one of the enemies, and use her medical techniques to help them in the battle until victory; where she could easily backstab them. Their strategies were both devious, and one of the reasons Hikaru began to enjoy spending more and more time with her. Their relationship grew to the point, where they actually began to go out on dates. Even after this month, Hikaru had yet to sleep with her. An amazing task to mention, since it happened very often with new girls he met. The difference with this one was respect though. He actually cared for the girl, and saw her as an equal. One of the few times in his life his superiority complex didn’t get the best of him.
Alas, it was time for the fighting. Hikaru’s plan worked perfectly. He managed to trick his enemies into combatting one another, and then finished them off as expected. It went exactly as he planned, and only had one speed bump; which was when he got distracted from his Genjutsu for a moment. Once the battle was over, he went to spectate Miya’s. Not amazed, she also did very well in the battle. Her strategy wasn’t as well performed as Hikaru’s, however she still managed to defeat the one with ease. However, even though she did good; she didn’t keep a good track of her chakra supply. And so, she was defeated by one of the Bloodline Squad’s own members. The same Genin Hikaru would have to face in his next battle. She was still promoted to Chuunin for her excellent healing abilities and interesting strategy, but was still fairly disappointed at her loss. Their final teammate, was the Kaguya. It scared Hikaru how powerful the Genin had become. In a 2v1 battle, the Kaguya wiped out both genin, leaving them in a fatal state. This was only the second time in his life Hikaru actually felt such intense fear, and simply hoped whoever the Kaguya faced would defeat him before Hikaru had to deal with the male.
The next battle was set a week from the end of the first four. These battles were simple 1v1’s, and didn’t require as much strategy. Hikaru knew however, that the only way he could win was by tricking his enemy. The genin ahead of him had Hyouton abilities, which his Genjutsu wouldn’t help with very much. This was the first moment where Hikaru began to focus on another specialty. The one that haunted him in the past several times; Fuuinjutsu. He knew quite a lot about Fuuinjutsu, although he also knew a lot about all the other specialties. Fuuinjutsu was the only one that would have helped him though. Hikaru was naturally imbued with the fire element, but such a thing was useless against Hyouton users who could calm the flames in seconds. The fuuinjutsu would instead help by heating the ice internally, and exploding it. The first Fuuinjutsu Hikaru ever made, was one that would heat up the surface it touched to intense heats.
Come battle time, Hikaru’s plan went smooth for the first half, until his enemy figured a way to overcome the seals. Low on chakra, Hikaru was forced to use the techniques he knew best. Genjutsu. The second half of the battle was a losing one, until Hikaru began to strategically spam false placement and haze clones. When he finally found an opening, he locked his enemy in Hikaru’s most powerful genjutsu at the time. It wasn’t strong enough to win the battle for him, but once Hikaru broke the technique himself, he had the split second opportunity to surprise his enemy, and win the fight with a punch to the face. Feeling like a victor, his enthusiasm vanished once he saw the Kaguya perform in combat. Fighting a member of the Hyuuga with ease, and annihilating his opponent with incredible ease. Hikaru’s morale couldn’t have been lower, and was at the brink of simply forfeiting the match.
Another week of training was spent trying to figure a strategy to disable those bones. Most required the use of Fuuinjutsu, to seal away certain parts of his enemy’s body and prevent them from succeeding in victory. During that entire week, he couldn’t come up with a good strategy for winning, and eventually just gave up. That night however, Miya gave him a bit of ‘encouragement.’ That very morning, in high spirits, Hikaru marched to the Chuunin Exams stadium for the most important match in his entire life. At least, for a while. In high spirits, and with a cleared conscience, Hikaru began to devise complex strategies in seconds. He didn’t know how he was doing it, but it seemed that Miya was quite literally an inspiration. Though Hikaru ended up losing that match, he would have otherwise won if his chakra supply was a tad bit better than the Kaguya’s. His rival also fell shortly after the battle, which showed Hikaru that willpower and resilience actually help a person win.
All three of them made it to Chuunin rank, which was the only squad to actually make it. Impressed, the sensei congratulated his students, although HIkaru simply spit in the man’s hand and moved on. He had no respect for the Jounin, and even to this day doesn’t. When Hikaru stares at him from across the council table, all he sees is the horrible teacher he saw many years ago.
Shortly after the chuunin exams, Hikaru was met by a member of the KYOBU assassination team. Lead to the Raikage’s mansion, he was offered the job directly from the Raikage himself. His ability to perform a top secret A-rank mission and incredible abilities during the Chuunin exams were exactly what they needed. Rumors spread around the higher ranked ninjas about Hikaru’s abilities, and eventually found its way to Hikaru’s new rival. The kaguya did not receive the same offer as Hikaru, and was outraged at the thought. This was the second victory Hikaru had over him, and was only reinforced by officially claiming Miya to be his. After stripping the Kaguya of his glory, fame, and arrogance, such a defeat would only enact revenge; which it later did. For now, Hikaru began to focus more on missions, studying and his girlfriend than partying. The mission aspect making him even more famous around the village, however still nowhere near material for what would eventually become the leader of an entire nation.
His Chuunin KYOBU skills excelled further into his teens. When he was sixteen, he was already announced the leader of his squad of Chuunin KYOBU, which reflected on his skills even further. Attaining such a rank in only a year is an astonishing feat, but was mainly because Hikaru’s incredible strategic skills and newfound art of stealth made him a perfect spy. Over the years he would begin to stop worrying about strategies, as most of his skills began to devote entirely into stealth. So much in fact, that he rarely ever had a head on battle. Assassinations quickly became his specialty. He had achieved what he was hoping for, the ability to travel around the continent at will; to avenge his father. However he no longer felt like it. He lost all enthusiasm for vengeance, and knew his chances of actually finding his father were close to none. Such a risk was not something he wanted to take so early in his career.
After two more years of working his ass off; the male was eighteen; the end of his teenage years. By now he was strongly recommended for Jounin rank, but was never given it because of how useful he was to the KYOBU. Eventually he came across a mission that was exceptionally difficult. He was assigned the privilege to escort a Chuunin from Kumo to Ame. This journey would be a quick diplomatic one, and was meant to end the hostilities of Amegakure. Everything would have gone smoothly, until Hikaru learned who this person was. It was his very own girlfriend Miya. While she had no clue who he was, he had every idea who she was. The mask was the only thing separating his personal life from his professional life; two things Hikaru always avoided.
This task was what defined the male though. Only the Raikage had knowledge of their affair, and had done this in good spirit; to make Hikaru feel good about being able to protect his loved one. The situation couldn’t have gone worse.
The mission was clear, Escort a Chuunin to Amegakure, deliver a diplomatic message, and return home. HIkaru was even accompanied by a fellow KYOBU ninja, which was meant to make the task less likely to fail. Everything went fine until they actually entered Amegakure. It was an outright ambush. After delivering the message, the three of them were assaulted by a horde of Jounin level ninja. The three of them managed to flee from the village successfully; however three Jounin pursued them still. HIkaru’s only option was to fight them, and hopefully buy the other two enough time to escape. And this was exactly what he did. Using his experience in Genjutsu, and some knowledge in Fuuinjutsu, he began to cast jutsu to hold off the three advancing Jounin; allowing his partner and Miya to successfully escape. This worked for a while, until the three began to overwhelm him. Hikaru began to fully utilize his stealth skills at this point. Using his Genjutsu, he fooled the enemies into wasting large amounts of chakra. His strategy was attrition. Weaken the enemy until they die from lack of energy. It worked too, however attritioning three enemies at once is a difficult task. Especially ones more superior in strength than him.
After a good hour of stalling, he figured that his teammates were far enough away to no longer be attacked by these Jounin. The Jounin themselves had grown incredibly annoyed, but also very tired. So tired that the three Jounin and Hikaru combined couldn’t beat a Genin in their current state. Now it was just a stand-off. Hikaru at least succeeded in holding them off; that’s all that mattered to him. Ready to give up; he heard a familiar voice screaming at him. It was Miya of course. Evidently the other KYOBu member told her that he was stalling the ninja off, and now she was rushing in to help them out. In the middle of the Rice Field country; the battle got a bit more interesting.
She managed to heal Hikaru back to reasonable strength, enough to take out the three weakened Jounin; however he got a bit too cocky. Taking the final charge to finish them one by one; he got around to killing the first two; but at an exchange for lowering his guard. While he killed off the two Jounin; Miya was captured by the enemy Jounin. Hikaru had two options; surrender and return to Amegakure to be tried, or kill the Jounin. The second option would require risking Miya’s life, and as such he had no other options. Before he could decide however; the Jounin grew impatient and knifed Miya several times in the gut. Tossing her aside and charging for Hikaru. Shocked, he took a blow straight to the face, falling straight to the ground. This helped him snap out of the trance, which eventually got him to stand back up. Now incredibly angry and upset; Hikaru began to perform a large variety of jutsu. Enough to simply overwhelm his enemy; but at the same time deplete his chakra to dangerous levels. Killing off the third, Hikaru crawled over to his lover, collapsing beside her dying body.
Waking up a few days later, he was informed that his girlfriend had died, however he survived. He was also informed that the mission he was sent on was a suicide mission; one that had no chance of success, as peaceful as it seemed. Angered at his Raikage for tricking him, and the council for not informing him of the dangers of his mission, he immediately sought revenge; however his body in no shape to actually acquire it. A week in bed was all it took for his opinions to change. He saw the whole mission as a test, and when he was informed that he would become an A-rank Jounin; he actually felt relieved. At least he gained something from this loss. The idea that she died hit him hard; but it was definitely not the first time someone died in front of him. Nor was it even the second or third. Hell, he killed off most of the people he watched die, and none of it phased him. The less he thought about her, the more calm he grew; however his stance on politics completely changed.
Once he was released from the hospital, he became more immersed in politics. He took a couple weeks off to recollect his thoughts, and eventually came back as a Jounin-level KYOBU agent. His missions became more and more stealth oriented, and many of his tasks were claimed to be ‘Peace actions’ and ‘peace wars’. The irony of it all is easily explained in ‘peace wars’. He was killing many ninja, in hopes of claiming peace. He quickly acknowledged this hypocrisy, and devoted more of his time to politics; actually beginning to lobby some of the council members through reason (since he wasn’t rich enough to bribe them.)
Leading into his 20’s he began to party much more often, and focused on his missions more than studying. There wasn’t much else left for him to learn. This era eventually advanced his Fuuinjutsu skills. He learned that many Fuuinjutsu techniques were space-time oriented; a feature he seemed to enjoy a lot for some unbeknownst reason. The past was behind him, and he rarely ever reflected on it. What made him who he was never crossed his mind, simply that he succeeded in achieving an incredible rank; one that very few ever reached at his age. The youngest Jounin living in Kumo.
- Young Adult:
From the age of twenty to twenty-two, his life seemed pretty basic. He’d wake up in his new house, which he bought with the raise he got from becoming a joinin, then proceed to catch up on both local and national politics. After a spending a half hour sipping tea and reading, he’d go out to eat an especially expensive breakfast; before heading off to do one of a few possible things. Either complete a basic mission; run some errands for his superiors, spar with some of the local Chuunin and Jounin, train some new jutsu, ‘go ou’t with one of his many ‘girlfriends’, or head to a park to read for the rest of the day. Once the clock struck 8pm, he’d usually be done with his daily activities, and would go out to party. After the party, he may or may not hook up with someone; but sneak out in the middle of the night to return to his home to sleep. The cycle repeats as such.
Occasionally he’d go out for a longer period of time; at most a week or two for a mission abroad where he was sent as a spy or to stealthily assassinate a specific person. Usually these missions took a while, because gathering information and making deaths look like accidents can never be done in but a few days. When he did return though, his day would once again become this mindless cycle of activities. He was never completely ‘organized’ in the sense that he did everything at very specific times. He was too carefree and very wasteful of time during his day-to-day life. It wasn’t until three months after his twenty second birthday that he was assigned on what was his biggest task to date. He was to become an official spy inside the very core of Iwagakure. A spot recently opened up in their council courts, and the man who was originally going to join the council was to magically disappear, and Hikaru was to wear a disguise, act like the man, and pretty much be that man for as long as he could; and gather intel the entire time. This was referred to a “Lifetime mission”; one that lasts so long that by the time the ninja returns, they’d be in their 40’s or 50’s. There weren’t many of these missions, and it was usually an honor to even be selected for one.
This was the first time Hikaru was forced to use an unfamiliar technique. The Henge no jutsu. He hated Ninjutsu as a whole, and so he managed to devise what is now his “Persona” technique. A Fuuinjutsu that gave him what was essentially a permanent transformation. This ability, at the time, could only last at maximum 12 consecutive hours before requiring it to be reactivated. This only became a problem on rare occasions of course. To make matters worse; Hikaru had to emulate his test subject for the entire time, and only had a week to do it. And so; spying on the council member for a week, Hikaru managed to gather enough information about him to act as a perfect doppelganger.
Over the course of the next year; he acted as a spy for Kumo. He managed to make plenty of friends in high places, and was even receiving praise back home with the higher ups. He provided so much intel, some recognized him as the greatest spy of the era. Hikaru never actually understood what it was he was trying to find out. He learned a lot of secrets about the village, but could never wrap his head around the purpose for all of this knowledge. The Kumo council’s excuse was “It’s to ensure peace”, however, getting caught would definitely end this peace. It was a bit counterproductive in his eyes, but rarely ever questioned his place.
After about 4 months after his first year, he met a woman who worked as an assistant to one of the ninja council members. Being a bit of a playboy, and having no sex in well over a year, Hikaru saw a perfect opportunity to hook up with her. It only took him a week for his charm to seep through and get to the girl, and by then the two had formed a bit of a relationship. It didn’t take long for word to get around that HIkaru was sleeping with his co-worker, but everyone seemed to turn a blind eye to it. By now Hikaru had enough evidence on all of the ninja council, that he could scandalize the whole village authority. A rebellion was definitely not something any of them wanted; save for possibly HIkaru himself.
Over the course of the next two years, his fame in the Kumo ninja council exceeded his fame in the Iwa ninja council. He became so well known with his home villages authority that he was almost guaranteed a raise and even a promotion upon his return. His return was scheduled for a date years in the future; or at least it was supposed to be. One day, Hikaru began to suspect his girlfriend of two years. By now he was twenty-five years of age, and infinitely wiser. He noticed strange patterns in her movements and how she talked. It wasn’t until one night he compared her patterns to his own, and discovered the odd similarity. To Hikaru it became clear she too was a spy; but for which country? He was never informed about a spy from Kumo, so he could only assume it was from another country.
He spent a good year and a half studying her very movements; until one day she was caught on duty delivering information to an informant. It wasn’t even Hikaru’s fault, but when news got out that he was sleeping with the enemy and that he was so blind as to notice, things didn’t go well. At first he was accused of being a spy as well; which Hikaru quickly panicked internally, but remained calm about externally. He managed to sway their opinion that he wasn’t a spy, however his credibility was so ruined that any voice that he had in the ninja council was completely gone. He was basically a useless spy now; as none of his peers seemed to trust him. What angered Hikaru most was how unfair the situation was. To be discovered in such a cheap way, to no longer be trusted over a simple error that was beyond his control. It was the first time in a while Hikaru was genuinely angry at the society he belonged to.
Unfortunately, with very little information left to share with Kumo, HIkaru had to flee. He had no viable excuse at the time, but managed to flee from Iwa without being caught. Upon his return to Kumo, he was once again greeted with both praise and detest. While he managed to gain three years worth of valuable information, he came back several decades short of what was expected. It was also very difficult to cover up the scandal that was beginning to form around his return. Only the Raikage and his very close advisors knew the exact reason he had to leave. If it was revealed to the other high-ranking ninja; his reputation would have been tarnished and forgotten. To avoid this, the Raikage pleaded Hikaru to step down from KYOBU, and claim he returned because life was too stressful and he was beginning to lose his mind. The excuse was more elaborate than that of course; however Hikaru can barely remember it anymore. All he cares about is the position it gave him.
At this point he was twenty-five years of age. After leaving the KYOBU forces, he had no choice but to begin working as a regular Jounin. The pay was a bit less than before, but if not for his valuable effort, it would have definitely been a lot less. Being the highest paid Jounin around, he could afford to party, slack off and do whatever it was he wanted around the village. He still took missions, but his partying and clubbing era was reestablished. Also getting plenty of free time, and finding some of the most challenging missions to be an easy feat; his studies began to take over a large amounts of his day time, and parties overwhelmed his nights. He managed to build up a reputation in Kumogakure as a playboy, while simultaneously seeming to be better than most other ninja. It seemed that his KYOBU training had made him one of the top Jounin in his league, if not the top. His rival from his Genin years didn’t even dare to challenge him; although he made several attempts at ruining Hikaru’s reputation. First by making his girlfriend hate him for cheating on her excessively; then by trying to publicly expose his cheating. Nothing really seemed to kill Hikaru’s reputation; but really: when you’re the best, no one really cares at that point. He sure as hell wasn’t a role model to anyone, but then again, no one really wanted to aspire to be him.
Over the next few years, he began to stray away from stealth. He no longer needed it, since he was a Jounin. Once again he backtracked toward what he did best. Strategy. From the age of twenty-five to twenty-eight, he became incredibly smart in strategy and diplomacy. He actually acted as the diplomat for Kumogakure for five straight years, until he was thirty, and in this time period he strengthened Kumo’s diplomacy to incredible extents. He learned a majority of his politics working as this diplomat, and because his missions were very infrequent, he had more than enough time to train, study and party as much as he wanted. The diplomatic ties he made with the other countries though, were ones that would set his reign of power into stone. He was plotting slowly to become Raikage. Hell, his confidence in becoming one was outmatched by anyone. Until at least, a new candidate arose.
- Rise To Power Arc:
At twenty eight, a new candidate arose for Raikage. She was superior to Hikaru in many ways; except for the ones he thought mattered. While she was a great public speaker, powerful fighter, and definitely a figure people could look up to. She was blind after all! What she did lack, at least in Hikaru’s eyes, was his malevolent lust for “peace”. After working as a diplomat for three years now, he had begun to see the very thing these “peace wars” were all about. This was when he first realized his nindo. “Peace cannot be obtained without conflict and sacrifice.” It was irony at its finest, but it was to him one of the only truths in the world. And he felt the new Raikage didn’t see this. All of his diplomatic acts became increasingly more difficult as time passed under her reign. His diplomacy was set around actual peace; not a peace that would keep conflict from occurring until the right fuse was lit. She was beginning to undo what he was building up for three years with the previous Raikage, and this only angered Hikaru further.
He was still a diplomat, and managed to reduce the ‘damage’ to his diplomacy the best he could over the course of the next few years. To ensure he could do this, he vowed to be a part of the Ninja Council; which he was already an assistant to for a couple years. This gave him more political appeal, and further influence in the Raikage’s decisions. He was actually one of the few to ever speak out against her, and he happened to do it an awful lot. It was becoming increasingly more obvious he didn’t enjoy the new Raikage too much, but he couldn’t really do anything about it for the time being.
Even though he was now a council member (the youngest out of the group by far), his lifestyle remained the same. He partied when he could, fooled around all the time, and kept to his studies often. At this point however, he was beginning to run out of things to study. He had discovered an interesting way of making his Fuuinjutsu far more compact, and also ways of making his “Persona” ability last for extensive periods of time; a jutsu he used very often to hook up with unknowing girls. It wasn’t until he was thirty that he figured out a way to ‘take command’. He didn’t have the patience to remain in the shadows behind the Raikage, so he did his best to make her look bad at any chance he got. To him it felt kind of ironic. Maybe it’s the same feeling his ex-rival felt when Hikaru superseded him with incredible ease. Such a thought was quickly shrugged off, but she didn’t seem to budge even a bit from her position.
After another year of being a council member, he couldn’t help but plot ways to kill her. Make it look like an accident. Of course he never had the intent of doing it, but the sheer fact that she was ruining his very plans was growing on his last nerve. Hell, she was even the same age as him. As obsessive as he was, he began to notice a trend. His stealth skills kicked in a bit, and allowed him to sneak around. He noticed that she began to sneak away on occasion. Hikaru never found out why until half a year later, when he caught her with what appeared to be a Chuunin. “Perfect” was what Hikaru’s immediate thought was. All he needed to do was reveal this scandal, and it was all over. But for some reason, Hikaru couldn’t pull himself to do this. Even though he hated her politically, he couldn’t bring himself to ruin her life just for his own self-satisfaction. Luckily for him, he didn’t have to.
Eventually she resigned by herself, and to Hikaru’s shock, the spot for Raikage was open. It only took a little effort to convince the ninja council who the obvious alternative was. Hikaru was great in combat (albeit not as good as the previous Raikage), and an incredible mind. In fact, it can be argued that he won the Raikage position solely because he was a brilliant politician and military strategist. His fighting style could have been considered ‘par’ or even sub-par in fighting circles, but his sheer acceleration over the years, and increasingly accumulative fame definitely helped him in the long term. It was only a few months after her resignation that Hikaru was announced to be the new Raikage. He postponed his actual ceremony for the time being, waiting to get his diplomacy back in order before proceeding to gloat about his new title as Raikage.

Chakra Cost: 1CP per 5 clones
Name: Henge no Jutsu • Transformation Technique Rank: E Type: Ninjutsu Range: N/A Element: N/A Description: This technique transforms the user’s appearance to that of another object or person. Name: Genjutsu no Fuuin | Seal of Illusionary Techniques Rank: E-S Type: Fuuin-Gen | Supplementary Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Element: - Description: In order to use this jutsu, the user must have performed the necessary hand seals for a specific Genjutsu of varying rank. After performing these hand seals, the user adds an additional five hand seals to levitate a glowing blue chakra entity of kanji above one of the palms. By striking this kanji onto a target, the seal paints itself on the user’s body and forcibly activates the genjutsu. The genjutsu works the same as it would if the user normally activated the technique, including a tribute of constant chakra; however this method allows one to place a battery seal alongside this seal to eliminate the need for constant chakra consumption. Since it requires contact with the enemy directly, it is often better to simply use a genjutsu without this perk. The genjutsu will remain active on the target until the time limit is reached for the genjutsu, the user/battery seal stops feeding chakra to the seal, or the user/an ally performs “kai” to escape the genjutsu. If any of the above are true, the seal vanishes from the victim’s body.and the Genjutsu ends. Chakra Cost: Cost of Genjutsu + 5CP

The first is “boundaries”, which states that it will create a non-visible chakra connection with another one of these very seals, as long as the seal is within 10m of this one. Thus by chain placing these seals on the ground, one can create a ‘boundary’. This boundary has absolutely no purpose, until the second property is activated. Should the user perform an Area of Effect genjutsu after creating a boundary (the boundary must form a shape, such as a triangle, square, or even decagon. Without shape, the following ability has no effect), the area for which the genjutsu effects becomes this boundary. As such, one can greatly increase the possible area that their genjutsu can affect. The genjutsu still follows the same flaws (ie. performing kai will remove the genjutsu entirely), however with one added handicap. If the user leaves the boundary of the seals, the genjutsu will immediately for that user, however re-entering it will enable the jutsu again. The creation of the seal is the only necessary chakra cost, however this cost adds up when creating a large boundary. Chakra Cost: 3 per seal
Name: Kadenchi Fuuin | Battery Seal Rank: C Type: Fuuinjutsu | Supplementary Range: - Element: - Description: After creating a seal, the user may choose to add this battery seal to that ‘parent’ seal. The battery seal is loaded with a defined amount of chakra, and is painted next to the written seal, like an attachment. Once the seal has been activated, the battery seal kicks in and provides any chakra cost for maintaining the jutsu, until the chakra from the seal is depleted. This allows the user to utilize a seal without constantly focusing chakra on the seal, as the battery seal provides the chakra source. Once the seal runs out of chakra, or does not have an adequate amount to provide for 1 more posts worth of consumption; both this seal and the parent seal cancel, ending the Fuuinjutsu. The total amount of chakra consumed is still the same as if the user was constantly feeding chakra into the seal; but this way they do not have to resort to such an archaic tactic as constantly feeding chakra. Chakra Cost: Varies based on the amount of chakra sealed.
Name: Suishin Fuuin | Propulsion Seal Rank: C Type: Fuuinjutsu | Supplementary Range: - Element: Katon Description: A very simple seal created by Hikaru for the sole purpose of performing a complex “Kunai missile” technique. By placing a small seal on the end of a kunai (or any surface really), the user can apply a very minimal amount of chakra to propel this object forward a short distance. The mass of the object usually interferes with the distance, but a kunai can travel about 10m on average, without even being thrown. The benefit of using this seal, instead of throwing it, is of twofold. On one hand, the propelled item will generally go twice as fast using this jutsu than if thrown by hand. On the other hand, it allows the user to place a battery seal amidst this propulsion seal to extend the travel time greatly. As such, it can propel a kunai like a missile, 100m or more if necessary. The propulsion only works in one direction however, and thus it can only fly in a straight line. Chakra Cost: 5CP (2CP upkeep with Battery Seal)
Name: Chokuhi Horimono | Personal Tattooing Rank: C Type: Fuuinjutsu | Supplementary Range: - Element: - Description: A method of writing very similar to the well known Finger Engraving Seal, however utilizing ink instead of simple etching. By holding in one’s hand a canister of ink, the user is able to draw this ink out with chakra and channel it to their index finger. Then, by sharpening the chakra around the user’s index, they can proceed to engrave into an object or person, the tattoo. While usually a tattoo will be painful, this tattooing procedure blends the ink with the skin (or other surface) to make it as painless as possible. While it does sting still, it’s not enough to effectively leave the user groaning in agony like a regular tattoo. Chakra Cost: 7CP (2 per post)
Name: Koukei Juugo ─ Bakuyaku Nifuda | Caliber 15 ─ Explosive Note Rank: B Type: Fuuinjutsu Range: - Element: - Description: A customized seal that the user can etch, print, paint, or more commonly, place on a blank piece of parchment. Activating the seal produces an explosion equal to fifteen explosive notes. The jutsu is significantly less expensive than activating fifteen separate notes because of its compact nature. Chakra Cost: 11
Name: Hikushi Fuuin | Fire Spit Seal Rank: B Type: Fuuinjutsu | Offense Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) - Long (10m+) Element: Katon Description: Half of this seal is tattooed on the tongue of the user, while the other half on the roof of their mouth. When the user holds their tongue to the roof of their mouth for a single second, and proceeds to channel a surplus of Katon chakra toward their mouth, the seal activates. From it spawns a single fireball to fully occupy the user’s mouth, before inevitably being released through the lips as a projectile. The fireball can fly up to ten meters before becoming nearly useless, but should it make contact with a surface, it can produce a hefty knockback effect and ignite the surface into second degree flames. Chakra Cost: 10CP
Name: Haishitsu Fuuin | Disablement Seal Rank: B Type: Fuuinjutsu | Offense Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Element: - Description: After performing a quick series of hand seals, the user’s palm will levitate a glowing blue chakra entity of kanji. By placing this kanji on a limb, the user is able to seal all chakra connectivity to that limb; leaving it disabled. This is effective for forcing a person to limp, or preventing them from performing jutsu. The seal lasts for as long as the user applies chakra to it, unless the enemy breaks it by overloading it with 18CP of chakra (14CP if they have Fuuinjutsu as a specialty). If this seal strikes the target’s chest, it will increase the chakra cost for all of the target’s jutsu by 5CP instead of disabling the entire body. If the head is struck, the seal will reduce 8CP from the target’s body before immediately breaking. The latter two effects are simply means of avoiding an auto-kill. Chakra Cost: 14CP (4 per post)
Name: Kage Bunshin no Fuuin | The Sealing of Shadow Clones Rank: B Type: Fuuinjutsu Range: - Element: - Description: A unique technique Hikaru taught himself when he realized one can seal jutsu into scrolls. The main difference between this jutsu and the simple sealing technique is that unlike almost every other jutsu, Shadow Clones cannot be sealed regularly. They are unique to each person who uses them, and simply using the shadow clone itself would immediately make it impossible to seal in a manner that resembles the user. The whole point of the shadow clone would be lost, and so Hikaru devised this technique as a replacement. By having someone else perform the exact hand seals, minus the last one, for a Kage Bunshin, then placing it on a prewritten seal located on a scroll, the entity is able to transfer 15CP of their chakra into the scroll, to otherwise seal the Kage Bunshin inside of it, before it is ever summoned. The seal acts as the final hand seal, and works like a chakra leech to preserve the chakra inside the scroll to be used later. When a new person activates the seal using basic Fuuinjutsu, they are able to unseal a Kage Bunshin that resembles the user exactly, and even transfer their chakra into the shadow clone to act as a real shadow clone. Since the seal is still imperfect, it consumes 10CP to unseal the jutsu, as opposed to only 1CP as is such for other unsealed jutsu. Chakra Cost: 10CP to unseal.
Name: Ayatsuri no Kage Bunshin | Manipulation of Shadow Clones Rank: A Type: Fuuinjutsu Range: - Element: - Description: After inscribing a seal on a parchment, usually a chakra enhanced one, the user is able to imprint this Fuuinjutsu. After placing the seal on a shadow clone, the properties of this shadow clone change. The clone can only use jutsu of up to C-rank in power, however they become incredibly more realistic. They are able to take tremendous amounts of damage without dispersing, they can bleed realistically, and their body even has realistic bones to snap or break. A shadow clone can even lose an arm and survive; however a lethal blow or multiple missing limbs is the extent of the shadow clone’s agony. The shadow clone also loses the property of reconnaissance, and can no longer share memories with its maker. However, the user of the shadow clone will still know if their clone has been dispersed. Finally, the seal adds one more change to the shadow clone, and that’s total CP amount. The user is able to place as much chakra into the clone as they wish, or take out however much they want. However, for as long as the shadow clone has more than 5CP, it will create a false chakra image to fool those who can sense chakra, although very high ranked or experienced chakra sensors can detect the fallacy in the jutsu and identify its fraudly nature. The seal only requires the initial activation fee, and is afterwards self-sustaining. Chakra Cost: 24
Name: Gojin | Persona Rank: A Type: Fuuinjutsu Range: - Element: - Description: An advanced form of the transformation jutsu that HIkaru prefers to use when leaving the village, as to avoid scandals and recognition. He invented the technique at a young age, however has only recently been able to perfect it. The jutsu allows Hikaru to change his appearance to resemble one of the three ‘personas’ listed in his Appearance. Each persona has a unique look, which Hikaru stole from several people he’s met in the past. When creating the Fuuin seal, Hikaru must designate which persona to use, then place the seal somewhere on their person. The seal, once activated, is self sustaining, and changes Hikaru’s appearance to be that of the persona. The main difference between this seal and the actual transformation technique is the durability of the transformation. The user can take outstanding amounts of damage, and still keep up the persona for as long as the seal is on their person. Only once the seal is manually deactivated or removed will the charade be revealed. Chakra Cost: 23
Name: Kaze Hira Suiryoku | Wind Palm Thrust Rank: A Type: Fuuinjutsu | Offense Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) - Long (10m+) Element: Fuuton Description: Painted on each of the user’s palms is one half of a fuuinjutsu seal. Because only one half of the seal is painted on, the user may paint half of another seal on the palms without neutralizing the effects of this Fuuinjutsu. When the user slams their hands together, the seal connects, taking in applied Fuuton element chakra and converting it into the jutsu. A short while (about three seconds) after the hands clap, the user must position themselves to avoid being blown back by inertia once the attack launches. Should they fail to do so, recoil may take effect and throttle the user back. From the user’s palm launches a concentrated blast of wind about 30cm in diameter. This orb flies at the speed of a thrown shuriken, and travel upwards of 15m before dispersing. Should the orb make contact with a solid object, it will explode a purely concussive explosion; one that can devastate a 2m diametric area and deal bone-breaking damage to those within the blast radius. Though powerful, the jutsu is fairly simple to evade due to its small size and long preparation time. Chakra Cost: 22CP
Name: Hi Hira Suiryoku | Fire Palm Thrust Rank: A Type: Fuuinjutsu | Offense Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) - Long (10m+) Element: Katon Description: Painted on each of the user’s palms is one half of a fuuinjutsu seal. Because only one half of the seal is painted on, the user may paint half of another seal on the palms without neutralizing the effects of this Fuuinjutsu. When the user slams their hands together, the seal connects, taking in applied Katon element chakra and converting it into the jutsu. A short while (about three seconds) after the hands clap, the user must position themselves to avoid being blown back by inertia once their attack launches. Should they fail to do so, recoil may take effect and throttle the user back. By forming a “Hadoken” type of maneuver with the hands (having both hands joined at the wrist and facing outward), the user is able to launch a concentrated ball of fire about 30cm in diameter from the space between both palms. This fireball can travel no more than 15m before dispersing, but if it makes contact with a solid surface, it will forcibly explode to create a large dome of fire about 2m in diameter, capable of easily setting clothes and people on fire; and giving powerful third degree burns if the target is directly struck. Second degree burns are given to those within the blast range, and first if just outside the fire dome. Though powerful, the jutsu is fairly simple to evade due toits small size and long preparation time. Chakra Cost: 22CP
Name: Boueki Fuuin | Quarantine Seal Rank: A Type: Fuuinjutsu Range: Max. 100m2 (10m x 10m square) Element: - Description: After prewriting four identical seals, and wrapping them either around a kunai and throwing it, or placing each ten meters apart into a square, the user is then able to perform a short string of hand seals to utilize this jutsu. The four seals extend barrier walls from one another to create a perfect barrier box, that extends no more than 4m into the air. The box is enclosed under ground to prevent seismic entry, but open from above. The barrier itself is able to protect against jutsu of B-rank and below; though no more than 3 jutsu tops. A-rank jutsu will destroy the box, however the jutsu will also be cancelled in the process. Should a person attempt to strike the box directly, they will receive a rather painful stinging sensation. An A-ranked ninja with B-rank strength SCs can shatter the box easily, although the stinging does not fade. When one wall of the box is destroyed, the entire jutsu crumbles and the seals fade. The jutsu can be used both offensively and defensively, as to keep a person from escaping or keeping one safe. Chakra Cost: 24 (5 per post)
Name: Kabe Nankan | Barrier Wall Rank: A Type: Fuuinjutsu Range: 10m flat barrier Element: - Description: A variation of the Quarantine seal, the user creates the same exact seals necessary for the aforementioned jutsu, however only tosses two of the seals on the ground. After performing the rightful hand seals, a barrier wall will be made between the two seals, capable of protecting the user from jutsu up to B-rank; though no more than 3 separate jutsu. A-rank jutsu will also destroy the box, however the A-rank technique in question will be cancelled in the process. Striking the box directly sends a painful stinging sensation through the body, however an A-ranked ninja with B-rank strength SCs can shatter the barrier at the cost of stinging their hand. This jutsu is mainly used for defending against oncoming assaults; but can be seen as a waste of chakra compared to the Quarantine Seal, however it does not require a maintaining cost. Chakra Cost: 20
Name: Wareme | Rift Rank: S Type: Fuuinjutsu | Supplementary Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Element: - Description: A jutsu Hikaru invented himself, which he uses very rarely. This jutsu is not very powerful, nor is it exactly ‘useful’, however it is incredibly difficult to perform, and often referred to by HIkaru himself as a forbidden technique due to its very nature. After performing about 15 hand seals, the user places their palm against the air itself, before a large black seal seems to spawn; akin to a summoning jutsu. After the creation of this mid-air seal, the user grips the very fabrics of space and time, and tears a hole into it; creating a rift in reality itself. This creates a paper thin vortex that seems to create a large black, gaping hole in the air about the length of the user’s body. The creation of this very hole emits a loud noise similar to that of shifting stone, which ruins any sneak attack one may have planned. It takes about 4-5 seconds for the hole to fully open, and another 4-5 seconds for it to close once a person enters said vortex. Thus, this jutsu is completely useless during battle, even as a defense mechanism. The hole transports the user into an alternate space-time area, parallel to the user’s own, allowing time to pass at an equal pace. This dimension of sorts is unique to each user, therefore one cannot enter another’s dimension without attaining permission. In this dimension the user completely vanishes from the real world, and is impossible to detect by even the greatest of tracking ninja, as they are no longer on the same physical plane. From this very dimension, the user is able to open a hole to any location on the planet they have previously visited from memory, and repeat the previous procedure again. It saps a rather large sum of chakra to perform, however the chakra cost is displayed in a round-trip, instead of each individual use of the jutsu. As such, it costs 20CP to open the door into the dimension, and 20CP to open the door out. One may not start or end a topic in this alternative dimension. Note: The user may not enter or exit the hole until it is fully opened, as such sneak attacks are impossible with this jutsu. If the user does not have at least 40 usable CP, they cannot perform this jutsu (to avoid people being trapped in the other dimension). Thus without any durability SC’s, one must have at minimum 50CP to use this jutsu. Chakra Cost: 40CP

| ARSENAL CONTINUED.
- Custom Genjutsu:
Name: Detchiageru Hibiki | Fabricated Sounds Rank: D Type: Genjutsu Medium: Area of Effect Range: Sound (20m) Element: - Description: After performing a few hand seals, the user must make a loud shout to gain people’s attention. Afterwards, they can modify a single audible sound around them; whether it be a heartbeat, birds chirping, stomachs growling, cows mooing, wind blowing, etc., and amplify this sound by up to ten times its regular frequency, so that it becomes a very dominant sound around the user. This can easily be used for intimidation and distraction, however fairly useless for anything above that. Lasts a maximum of three posts. Chakra Cost: 3 (1 per post)
Name: Disappear Rank: C Type: Genjutsu Medium: Optical Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Element: - Description: A variation on the Flower Petal Escape jutsu, the user need only perform a hand seal or two before taking a few steps back and creating a false image of themselves. The target, once convinced they have struck the enemy, may drop their guard for long enough to give the user a chance to escape. The ‘double’ created earlier will vaguely disperse into the air, signifying it was a fake. Chakra Cost: 5
Name: Kunren Heya | Training Room Rank: C Type: Genjutsu Medium: Single Target (Shared) Range: Touch Element: - Description: A rather simple genjutsu that requires the target’s permission to use, and is therefore only applicable for training purposes (hence the name). The user and the target are sent into the genjutsu until one of them performs Kai to end the technique from within. In this genjutsu, all of the real world physics apply, and the user and target are limited to their respective jutsu and abilities. This is mainly used for quick training, as everything that happens in this jutsu transfers into the real world through methods of experience, as if the user actually went through the procedure (note, physical strength enhancements, muscles, etc. are not carried over for obvious purposes, only the information is). One second in the real world translates to about one minute in this genjutsu, increasing training efficiency greatly. If agreed upon by all parties, time skips are even allowed in this genjutsu to speed up training. Can last indefinitely. Chakra Cost: 8 (2 per post, 5 per timeskip)
Name: Detchiageru Gazou | Fabricated images Rank: C Type: Genjutsu Medium: Optical Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) - Mid (0m ~ 5m) Element: - Description: A genjutsu derived from the basic False Placement technique. The user is able to fabricate an image into the air, instead of modify an existing structure. This image can be anything from a boulder to a knife; however the image is nothing more than an image. It cannot be used to provide harm, or delude the target through further means. Simply meant as a method of distraction. Chakra Cost: 6 (2 per post)
Name: Gogyou | Five Elements Rank: C-A Type: Genjutsu Medium: Focus Range: Line of Sight Element: - Description: This technique has three stages, each one being an improvement on the former; however when using this jutsu one cannot change which stage is selected. As such, if the B-rank version is picked, the user must stick to this version throughout the genjutsu. This technique basically allows the user to control a certain number of elements to realistic extents inside the genjutsu. Once the target is hypnotized by the user’s focus, the user selects how much chakra to spend and begins the Genjutsu. If C-rank, the user can control one normal or advanced element, able to replicate the visual appearance of the element, as well as the physical feel and sound the element may make. Though powerful for a C-rank, it does not even need to be broken with Kai for the user to break free. Simply disbelieving the technique is enough. If B-rank, the user can control three normal or advanced elements. The same limits apply for B-rank as they do for A-rank. If A-rank, the user can control five normal or advanced elements. Same applies for A-rank as it does the other two ranks. Lasts a maximum of 5 posts. Chakra Cost: C-rank: 8 (2 per post) | B-rank: 12 (4 per post) | A-rank: 21 (5 per post)
Name: Tanki Kioku Nuguu | Short Term Memory Wipe Rank: B Type: Genjutsu Medium: Single Target Range: Touch Element: - Description: A very crafty and sly genjutsu that, after performing a few hand seals and touching the target’s forehead, allows the user to erase the last fifteen seconds, and the next ten seconds of the target’s memory. This is an incredibly handy trick to make one forget about ever meeting the user. Alternatively, they may selectively erase all memory of the user instead of all of the user’s memory for 15 seconds; however this costs a significantly larger sum of chakra. Chakra Cost: 10 (20 to erase only the user from short term memory)
Name: Mukankaku | Numb Rank: B Type: Genjutsu Medium: Area of Effect Range: Sound (25m) Element: - Description: After performing a string of hand seals, the user proceeds to whistle. The Genjutsu amplifies the screeching sound of the Genjutsu, making it seem much louder than it really is. This whistling sound will eventually fade, once the user wishes to begin the actual Genjutsu. When active, everyone affected by the Genjutsu will begin to slowly feel numb, starting with the feet and hands, and spreading quickly over time. It only takes two posts for one’s limbs to go completely numb; then another two posts for the entire body to numb. As such, the user has 2 posts to break free from the technique, before they require assistance from an outside member to break them free using Kai. However, it only requires one of the afflicted to break the Genjutsu for everyone, and only requiring 5CP (plus 2 for using Kai) to break it for everyone. The user is however able to selectively apply the Genjutsu, thus avoiding their allies if necessary. Chakra Cost: 12 (4 per post)
Name: Hoteru | Burn Rank: B Type: Genjutsu Medium: Single Target Range: Sound | Finger Gesture Element: - Description: After performing a short strand of hand seals, the user need only snap their fingers to activate this genjutsu (any jutsu that may spawn from snapping of fingers is not activated by this Genjutsu, as one cannot use two jutsu at once). Upon snapping, the target’s body will appear to catch aflame. The Genjutsu affects sight, smell and touch; therefore those with exceptionally keen perception could notice the lack of burning sounds; however in such a panicked state this is very unlikely. Since the target appears to be on fire, they will believe to be burning, thus accidentally triggering a few nerve impulses. The genjutsu takes advantage of this, and exaggerates these accidental impulses to simulate burning alive. The Genjutsu lasts for a maximum of 4 posts; but the target can never fall unconscious or die from the fire. Chakra Cost: 10 (4 per post)
Name: Mohou-Sha | Imitator Rank: B Type: Genjutsu Medium: Single Target Range: Line of Sight Element: - Description: The target need only watch the user perform the hand seals for this genjutsu. After watching the target perform a jutsu prior to using this Genjutsu, the user must remember this jutsu, and have it in their mind before performing this technique. Once the hand seals are finished, the user is able to use the very jutsu they saw, except in Genjutsu form. The trick behind this ability is that the enemy knows the firepower of their own jutsu, and as such, the user need only amplify the damage the enemy predicts once the technique strikes. As such, the user can focus more on the aesthetics of the jutsu to make it as realistic as possible, while the pain will kick in almost naturally should it hit. Very useful as an intimidation tool, as the user could easily show off their might by firing back an S-rank jutsu as an illusion to trick their enemy. Only works on jutsu that can be replicated. Such things as Taijutsu and puppetry are unaffected, as one cannot project this attack on the enemy. Jutsu lasts only a single post. Chakra Cost: 14
Name: Kieiru | Vanish Rank: A Type: Genjutsu Medium: Multiple Targets Range: Line of Sight | Voice (20m) Element: - Description: After performing but a small variety of hand seals, the user will extend one hand forward and shout “Vanish!” Either of these two maneuvers will activate the genjutsu, which affects the senses of sight, hearing and touch of upwards of three people. Upon activation, a powerful gust will appear to sweep over the target(s), creating winds that would be impossible for regular weather to replicate. The push of these winds becomes so great, it essentially feels as though a black hole is pulling the targets toward its center, while the targets themselves are unable to move their feet. During this post, the targets will begin to feel their very atoms being ripped from their body in an excruciatingly painful manner, again as if a black hole was pulling them in. Should the target fail to release them self from this Genjutsu during their post, they will appear to disintegrate into atom sized pieces, and vanish with the wind. Once the genjutsu ends, the target will be rendered unconscious from the trauma of being ripped apart atom per atom. Genjutsu is only active for one turn, though the ‘death’ of the target can be described in the second post should they fail to break free. This entire techniques spans 2 seconds in real time, however feels close to a minute in the Genjutsu. Chakra Cost: 28
Name: Nemuri | Slumber Rank: A Type: Genjutsu Medium: Single Target Range: Touch Element: - Description: Hikaru’s favorite Genjutsu; the user need only perform a few hand seals before touching any body part of the target. They may even suspend the jutsu throughout the post; having upwards of 20 seconds from creating the hand seals to actually touch the enemy. Upon contact, the Genjutsu immediately activates, making the enemy feel drowsy. Should they fail to break free from the Genjutsu on their next post, the user will fall into a deep slumber on the one that follows. The Genjutsu ends after the second post, however the slumber continues until the target is startled. Chakra Cost: 24 (5 for second post)
Name: Gokuraku Ushinawareta | Paradise Lost Rank: A Type: Genjutsu Medium: Single Target Range: Line of Sight Element: - Description: After performing the appropriate hand seals, the user need only glance at the user’s face to activate the genjutsu. The Genjutsu is actually a rather nice one. It sends the target into a state of bliss, where all happiness levels and positive emotions are force-flooded into the target’s system. This blissful feeling can easily distract the enemy, and can be rather lethal if they lose focus for even a second. After the second post of using this genjutsu, the bliss becomes visualized, where the target is essentially transported into a new world where everything seems to go right. Because of the massive distraction, it is very easy for the user to actually forget they were ever fighting, and simply walk away; which is the main purpose of the technique. After another post, the visualized bliss will become even more realistic, to the point where the brain is tricked into emitting dopamine to literally send the enemy into ecstasy and euphoria. On the final post of the Genjutsu, the entire charade crumbles in front of the user, and they are left with an incredibly bitter feeling; as if waking up from the greatest imaginable dream, realizing it was all a fantasy. This can easily lower ones morale to very low levels, and even knock out any enthusiasm they may have had for the fight. This technique is rarely used in serious fights due to its fairly useless nature. Chakra Cost: 13 (4 per post)
Name: Genmusou | Genception Rank: A Type: Genjutsu Medium: Single Target Range: Touch Element: - Description: After knocking a person unconscious, the user needs to only perform a few hand seals before touching the target’s head. By doing so, the user will also fall asleep, however manage to enter the target’s subconscious; and eventually their actual dream. In this dream, the user may voyage around as if they were a God, however doing so may draw the attention of the target in question, and a battle of Gods is never a fun way to extract sensitive information. Instead, the user may prefer to sneak around and find hidden secrets from within the user’s mind; however doing so may also alert the target. While the technique is very useful in extracting information, one must be incredibly skilled to pull it off successfully. Hikaru is currently very bad at this. Chakra Cost: 23 (2 per post due to hyper accelerated brain activity where time moves slower in the real world than the dream realm)
Name: Hijin | Fire God Rank: S Type: Genjutsu Medium: Area of Effect Range: 5m Radius of User Element: - Description: One of Hikaru’s “God Jutsu”, which he uses mainly to boast power, but also to wreak massive havoc on the target’s mind. After performing a very large string of hand seals, the user projects their chakra into the surrounding area. Anyone who’s hit by this chakra field will succumb to the jutsu. Alternatively, the user may place Boundary seals to expand the area of effect. Once the jutsu is activated, Hikaru will motion his arm to the ground, causing the earth below to fissure and shatter, causing lava to randomly erupt from the ground like geysers. After a moment, a large figure will emerge behind Hikaru, taking the shape of a gargantuan fire God, which will proceed to launch various fireballs while the terrain continues to erupt. Due to the complex and powerful nature of the jutsu, any attack the target is struck; whether it be a face full of lava or a fireball to the gut will feel as though they were stuck with the actual attack; and with all of the havoc raining around them, even avoiding can pose a challenge. There is one rather large weakness to this Genjutsu. Should the target leave the 5m radius of the user, the genjutsu immediately ends, however the user can easily close this distance by simply following their target. Even if the enemy catches onto the user’s genjutsu; performing Kai would be nearly impossible with all of the chaos. Simply dropping one’s guard long enough to pull of Kai could prove gen-lethal. Dying in this Genjutsu will knock the target out. Like the other Godly Genjutsu, the ability lasts for upwards of six posts. Chakra Cost: 35 (6 per post)
Name: Kazejin | Wind God Rank: S Type: Genjutsu Medium: Area of Effect Range: 5m Radius of User Element: - Description: One of Hikaru’s “God Jutsu”, which he uses mainly to boast power, but also to wreak massive havoc on the target’s mind. After performing a very large string of hand seals, the user projects their chakra into the surrounding area. Anyone who’s hit by this chakra field will succumb to the jutsu. Alternatively, the user may place Boundary seals to expand the area of effect. Once the jutsu is activated, Hikaru will motion his arm to his target, summoning an enormous gale of wind. Shortly after this gale, many small twisters will form nearby, attempting to tear the target apart from the opposing air pressures. After a few moments of this intimidation, Hikaru will summon up a large tornado from which emerges the Wind God. The thunder god will begin to spin gales of wind and blast concussive orbs at the target, attempting to knock them unconscious. Since the genjutsu is incredibly complex, all of these actions will be felt by the target as if they were really happening, making it dangerous to their mental health.
Name: Persuasion Rank: S Type: Genjutsu Medium: Single Target Range: Eye Contact Element: - Description: After performing a few hidden hand seals, the user must glance into their target’s eyes. From there, they are able to ‘suggest’ an idea or thought into their mind. This technique works much more believably if the idea is already in the target’s head. After planting this idea, the user can, through various means, begin to persuade the subconscious to accept the idea as the target’s own. After a post or two, depending on whether or not the idea existed, the user can warp it into the back of the target’s mind in such a manner, that they will truely feel that it was their idea. Afterwords, the user can begin work on the idea, constantly adding ‘suggestions’ into the target’s mind for why this may be a great idea. These suggestions will simply appear as the target’s subconscious, almost telling them what a great idea it is. Through further manipulation, the target can solidify this idea in the target’s mind, and even go so far as to sway a person’s vote or change their mind completely. Because the technique is incredibly powerful, and can subsequently force the enemy to submit to the target’s ‘suggestions’, it is regarded as a very powerful and forbidden jutsu, which has a large price of being usable once per topic. Hikaru has used this technique many times to get people to not only do what he wants, but also agree with him on key decisions. It only takes about thirty seconds for the genjutsu to work completely, or 2 posts max. Chakra Cost: 40 (8 per post)
