| Retracting his blade back into his arm, Yoroi allowed the dead wolf to drop to the ground, having just punctured it’s heart with one of his incredibly sturdy bones. Letting the body drop to the ground, he could see the wolf slowly dying, it’s erratic breathing slowly coming to an end as it slowly closed it’s eyes and relaxed it’s muscles. He had just killed a female wolf, something he had to do in order to force the pack back and cause them to rethink their actions. When they came to his camp, they had not heeded a single one of his warnings, namely the totems made out of bone, fur and leather that still carried the scent of their species. When they chose to to enter his terrain, Yoroi knew that they would be trying to get to his food rations, and possibly to him if they got their chance in catching him off guard. By the time they got into his camp, Yoroi had already seen them in their approach, watching them from up high in the trees. Allowing them to get into his camp, he saved himself the work of having to drag dead wolves around in the aftermath.
Silently watching the wolves as they started picking through his stuff, it became quite clear that the one on the front was the Alpha, leading the group of wolves that currently existed out of seven. There was no doubt in his mind that there would be more of them around, though the first thing he had to take care of was the troop right beneath him, preferably without taking too many wounds of his own. As a response to the flow of his chakra, the bones in his fingers started twitching, pushing the tips of his fingers through his skin. Taking aim at the first of the carnivores that would stand still, he shot several bullets of bone towards the creature, travelling through the air at frightening speeds. When they came down, one of the wolves was punctured on multiple sides, causing it to lose balance and fall over, most likely not having expected Yoroi at all. It would not kill him right away, though the beast would soon bleed out and die, meaning he did not have to take care of that one anymore.
Firing several more rounds at the wolves below, most managed to dodge or only take minor damage, now realizing where he had been taking point from. Barking and howling at him, the pack started circling the tree, even though there was nothing they could do if he chose to stay up high and dry while just firing more of his bullets, having all the ammunition he needed to keep firing for quite some time. Thinking of a good way in which he could handle it, he figured the best thing to do would be to just shoot from above, though he was a predator and he had personal honor, as well as respect for nature. As such, he would not just act like a weakling, he would allow his instincts to come out and run rampant, his bones piercing out of his elbows, knees and the palms of his hands. Jumping down from the branch, his extremely dense bones took most of the hit, which was a good thing, for he had to fight right away.
The Alpha was the first to strike, and the first to be struck down, the Alpha and the boy clashing, bone against claws and fangs. Needless to say, it did not take long for Yoroi to get his first wounds, just like it had not taken all that long for the wolf to get stabbed repeatedly with Yoroi’s Shikotsumyaku. When the two broke up as a result of another of the wolves jumping into Yoroi’s back, the Alpha stumbled away into the treeline, followed by the rest of the wolves, save for the one still fighting Yoroi. Standing in front of him while baring it’s teeth, it was clear enough to him that this one had set it’s mind of killing him, so there would be no use in trying to scare it away. With his blades of hardened bone almost crying out for more blood to shed and flesh to reap, the wolf dashed forward at an ungodly speed, leaving very little time for Yoroi to respond. When it jumped at him, Yoroi let himself tumble backwards, causing the blades on his elbows to sink into the wolf’s chest and placing his feed in it’s stomach, kicking the beast off of him as he continued to tumble.
Hearing bones crack when the beast crashed into a rock behind him, the fight had ended itself when the creature died. Letting the blades retract back into his skeletal structure, he let out a deep sigh as he sat himself down on the ground, three dead wolves littering the terrain he called home. Every now and then Yoroi’s day turned out such as this, filled with bloodshed and bloody combat. It was the price he had to pay for living among wild animals in the mountains of the fire country, though it was this that kept him both sharp and well fed. The wolves he had slain here would provide him with quite a bit of meat he could use to both eat and use as bait for other animals, while the furs and skin could be used for warmth during the cold months. Even the bones served their purpose, for the teeth he would use to make necklaces and dream-catchers, while he used the bones and skulls to carve out totems. It was his personal art-form, something he enjoyed to do in his free time when not hunting or resting. Even though some would consider it morbid, it was what he was good at and took pride in.
When his ears heard the sound of howling up in the distance, he did not have a lot of time to prepare, knowing that it would not take very long for the wolves to make it back to his location to try and kill him yet again. It was a struggle that would only end if either the pack died, or if Yoroi died, that much was clear to him. Despite this knowledge, he was not one for giving up when outnumbered such as this. No, he was a hunter, he was the apex predator of these woods, something no mere wolf would be able to stand up to. Patching his wounds up a bit with some of the herbs he had crushed earlier, he could feel the cold sap dripping onto his flesh. It would keep his wounds from getting infected, though the smell would keep the wolves coming at him, as well as other hunters of the forest. Dragging the corpses of the three dead wolves towards the fire, he took out one of his knives, starting to skin the wolves and prepare pikes to stab the meat unto, making it easier for him to roast something over the fire.
All he ate was roasted meat, berries and nuts, though he also caught the occasional fish when he got water from the nearby spring and river. The water itself was always nice and cold, not to mention that it was very clean water that came directly from the higher regions of the mountains, melting ice that dripped down into fierce, crashing water and quite little streams. Suddenly, his ears pitched, hearing some leaves and twigs crack not too far from his current location. Dropping the knife and the meat on the floor, he knew that it was time for round two of his dance with the devil... |
