As of late there seems that there is general consensus that staff do not want members involved in higher-order decision making. This is the first step of many to erase this train of thought. The idea of Weaponry seems to suffer a bit of conflict within the staff lounge and we would like to know if it is nescessary for this to be altered ever so slightly.






Now, Personally I believe that the abolishing of the Chakra Conductive Special Characteristic is in order as it really is a foggy rule when considering chakra-conductive specific weapons. Not to mention the fact that it takes up a Special Characteristic slot that should in essence be a very fundamentally sound thing for a Weaponry specialist to have. Personal, chakra-conductive specific weapons that already do occur at B-rank, will remain. Now with this in mind, I have created Weaponry-user specific techniques that allow for chakra conductivity to be manipulated in all manner of weapons, regardless of personal or a general ninja tool. All manner of weapons. This should then simplify and balance Weaponry as a whole.

Name: Buaisou no Jutsu - Bluntness Technique

Name: Shaapu no Jutsu – Sharpness Technique

Description: A technique specific only to those who Weaponry, this technique allows the user to, when in contact with the said object, conduct chakra through the object and sharpen the edges of the weapon to that described in modern diamond-saw edges. This technique only works on weapons equal to or less than that of the user’s rank.
Chakra Cost: 7 to utilise [3 per object, to maintain per post]

Name: Hebino Shita no Jutsu - Serpent’s tongue Technique

Type: Weaponry
Range: Close (0m - 5m), Mid (5m - 10m), Far (10+)
Element: N/A
Description: A technique specific only to those who Weaponry, this technique allows the user to, when in contact with ninja wires, conduct chakra through the wires and effectively allow them to be manipulated like how a snake charmer would do to a cobra. This technique only has a limit of 10 wires to be manipulated, so 5 on each hand. If the wires are sliced or the physical connection between the fingers and the wires are interrupted due to the creation of hand signs, this technique is released and must be re-performed to allow control again.This technique only works on wires.
Chakra Cost: 5 to utilise [1 per wire, to maintain per post]

Name: Genso no Shinwa Sei - Elemental Affinity Technique

Range: Close (0m - 5m)
Element: N/A
Description: A technique specific only to those who possess Weaponry, this technique allows the user to, when in contact with the said object, conduct chakra through the object and channel that of the user’s base elemental affinity through it. As an example, a ninja who possesses the Katon affinity can channel fire through the said object. Once this weapon has the affinity in it, it cannot be switched unless dispelled for one whole post and then reapplied. This technique only works on weapons equal to or less than that of the user’s rank.
Chakra Cost: 13 [6 to maintain per object, per post]

Name: Genso no Shinwa Sei jixyokixyo - Elemental Dis-Affinity Technique
Rank: A
Type: Weaponry
Range: Close (0m - 5m)
Element: N/A
Description: A technique specific only to those who possess Weaponry, this technique allows the user to, when in contact with the said object, absorb the conducted chakra through the object and render the effects of the conducted weaponry redundant. As an example, a ninja who possesses a weapon encroached with the Fuuton affinity and attacks the user of this technique, the wind will be rendered useless. This technique only works on weapons less than that of the user’s rank.
Chakra Cost: 20 [7 to maintain per object, per post]




So to summarize, this is what the proposed changes will incur:
  • Removal of Chakra Conductivity Special Characteristic
  • Addition of these specific techniques under Weaponry & Puppetry Jutsu(potentially with a little more refinement)
  • Allowing anyone who currently has a B-rank or higher chakra conductive personal weapon to remain.
  • THIS WILL NOT REMOVE ANYONE'S PERSONAL CHAKRA CONDUCTIVE SPECIFIC WEAPONS.
  • The refunding of the Special Characteristic if someone does have it purchased, including that of the new techniques to be added up to the rank they are allowed to possess.

Mmm from personal experience, the Chakra Conductive SC ruined a character set-up I had wanted for one of my older characters. As Weaponry is only really useful when mixed with chakra, adding an SC that limited its use was a change I did not expect or was prepared for. So yeah, I would agree with you Dan >.O

As a weaponry user I love this idea. Also the new jutsu are very nice and certainly I would use it.

As the highest-ranked weapon user on the site until recently, and the only one to have actually experienced all the ranks up to jounin, I'm going to put my 3 cents in.

First off I agree with those ideas. Maybe a little more refinement but for the most part they seem sensible. In my opinion the SC, as nice-sounding at first implementation, has become simply a pain in the ass as implemented. Not only in getting an actual definition of how it works - referencing the very public fight Mors and I had with Enzo - but being something that seriously limits making new techniques. Weaponry is already the most limited in techniques - being regulated not only by CP but also the number of weapons available to the user. Yes yes, I know weapon users are considered able to, quote, "kill without using chakra". Of course nothing prevents anyone who doesn't have weapon specialty from carrying around quite effective weapons that are E or D-ranked (the only speciality whose "signature" ability is so handed out I might add) and having that same ability. And it ignores how evasive even those characters who aren't touted as close-combat types become against "basic" weapon attacks as Chris pointed out.

In my view the SC should have been rolled into the specialty in the same way that puppetry has poisons and sealing able to seal jutsu and bodies. Since it's already available only to weapon specialists no one else loses anything and doing so simplifies things for all sides. If there MUST be an SC related purely to weapons, then how about an advanced version that instead of restricting an ability that was always present allows that jutsu based on weapons to be used at reduced or no CP cost when using chakra-conductive weapons? Just as, if not more, enticing (does anyone on the site even have the Chakra Conductive SC) as the original without being a pain to those trying to make a character that uses weapons.

Oh and if you want to remove the impression that staff don't want players input then how about this. Axe the staff lounge and replace it with a section visible to everyone but where non-staff can only post in a specified area. As long as things affecting the players here are done behind closed doors with the results sprung on the players with no warning the image that the staff consider themselves above the "masses" is going to remain. Considering how many times I've pointed out where staff members don't even understand the rules you can't exactly say that they're "better" at this than the rest of us.

The last one, at least if it was me, would probably be relegated to sealing. Mostly since the person using it seems to be mostly affecting the charka itself rather than the weapon per say. Or maybe requiring that the user parry that attack with a chakra-conductive weapon with the bonus of being able to have their weapon (assuming no other elemental chakra present) take on that nature for one post. Basically make it less about manipulating the chakra alone and more about the use of the weapon as the implement.

The second-to-last is pretty much fine. We just need to know what each nature type does when channeled into a weapon. Some, like fire, are kind of obvious (it get hot)but what exactly happens to a blade takes on a water-nature or earth nature? Below is an example of what each might do based on what my own players and I came up with for our campaign.
Fire: heats up, burning skin and igniting flammable material on contact
Lightning: shocks and can partially melt or spot-weld metal on contact
Wind: cuts and pierces more easily
Earth: weapon becomes heavier and harder
Water: becomes somewhat amorphous, allowing it flow around small obstructions like blades but rendering it unable to parry in return.

The third seems fine but the second kind of treads on the toes of the fourth one for certain affinities. Especially the diamond-edged part which could really make wind and earth versions of that technique redundant. Sadly I deleted a whole bunch of ideas for comparable abilities several months back so I'll be a while coming up with good replacements. One that does come to mind is making this something like the Elemental Affinity Technique but only applicable to non-conductive weapons (and thus availble to C-ranked characters) and correspondingly weaker.

The first one... Damn it! Razz
This is the second time I've put time and effort into creating and polishing a technique and just before I can put up the request for it along comes an official one that is nearly identical. Can't find anything really wrong with it beyond maybe increasing the range to allow the weapons to be thrown with the caveat that after impact the weapon loses the effect.
