Territory

TUC centers around the collection of two commodities, territory and crystals. The former is discussed here, the latter in the following section. Acquiring Territory is key to building up your Village’s strength and defending it crucial in maintaining your own strength and safeguarding your own village from attack. It will be common place for Nin and Nin teams to be assigned on one of the special missions that exist to acquire territory or dispatch to defend existing territory

In TUC the shinobi world is split into 16 separate territories falling into 3 distinct types. The three types of territory are: home territory, occupied territory and unoccupied.

Home Territory

All of the four Villages will have one home territory, as follows:

Konoha ~ The Fire Country
Kiri ~ The Water Country
Kumo ~ The Lightning Country
Suna ~ The Wind Country

Home territories are very important for the following reasons:

1) They confer a large number of benefits other territories do not
2) Should they be lost the home faction will be severly crippled and its village considered conquered. It will have an opportunity to attempt to retakes its home territory but for a while at least it will be in great trouble and severely weakened

The benefits related to a home territory are as follows:

1) Can not be taken by means of the ‘Revolution’ or ‘Conquest’ special missions
2) Each contains an Advanced Spy Network
3) S Rank Limit: 3 (inc Kage/Leader)

Explanatory Notes:
1) Please see the Campaign Mission section for more information. In simplistic terms US allows for territories to be taken by both conquest or by leading a successful revolution against the owning faction. Home territories are considered unwaveringly loyal to their faction and will never revolt. Furthermore due their size and being centred around their home villages regular conquest is out of the question and they can only be taken via the 'Village Assault' special mission
2) Please see section on detection, esp spy networks. Detection and time requirements are an essential element of TUC and you will soon get used to them
3) All factions can maintain a max no. of s rank Nin. This reflects the heavy training, development and upkeep involved. Please see the section on the S Rank Limit for details

Occupied Territory

Occupied Territory is any territory controlled by a Village that is not it’s home territory. Normally these are minor countries though in rare cases it will be a major country where a Village has conquered it through the ‘Village Assault’ Special Mission. Depending on the number of occupied territory the have the faction that owns them derives a certain collective benefits. This done for sake of simplicity and balanced between occupied territory. These benefits reflect that with increased land and resources the faction/village understandably is more powerful. The benefits a Village can gain our as follows:

1 Occupied Territory = Creates a ‘Buffer Zone’ for the owning village. On acquiring its first territory the faction is considered to be using it as a first line of defence against aggressors. Filled with heavy defences this territory must be taken before any other faction can even consider a attempting the ‘Village Assault’ special mission
2 Occupied Territories = Maximum Number of S Ranks: +1 S Rank Nin
4 Occupied Territories = Maximum Number of S Ranks: +2 S Rank Nin
5 Occupied Territories = Mighty Nation Bonus. Upon getting 5 occupied territories the Faction/Village is considered particularly powerful and not to be messed with. Occupied territories stay loyal for twice as long
6 Occupied Territories = Maximum Number of S Ranks: +3 S Rank Nin
7 Occupied Territories = Mighty Empire Bonus. Upon getting 7 occupied territories the Village is considered a mighty empire without equal. Its enemies fear its might and its people no better then to disobey it. Within your territory you rule is unchallenged. Occupied territories are always loyal and can not be taken by means of the ‘Revolution’ special mission

In addition to the above benefits, the owning faction/village is considered to have an established spy network each occupied territory

Unoccupied Territory

Territory not owned by any Village is considered unoccupied. It gives no benefits to any faction

Territory Acquisition

By now you a probably wondering how a Village gets new territory. Home territories can only be taken through the ‘Village Assault’ special mission while both occupied territories can be taken by means of the ‘Conquest’ special mission and the ‘Revolution’ special mission. Unoccupied Territories can only be taken by means of the 'Conquest' special mission. The missions are outlined in the Campaign Missions section later on

Keeping Control of Occupied Territory

Suppression/Diplomacy/Propaganda call it what you will, it is all the same thing. All occupied territory needs to be kept in line be it be persuasion, force or gentle diplomacy depending on the village’s policy. It is important that the smaller villages and territories you control know who is in charge and are either loyal or too scared to think about putting up a fight. To ensure this faction’s should regularly dispatch Nin to ensure loyalty by means of the ‘Ensure Loyalty’ special mission. A failure to do this could leave the territory to consider independence and allow for other Villages to attempt the revolution special mission, a far quicker and easier variant of the Conquest special mission. The ‘Ensure Loyalty’ special mission ensures that for one month from its completion the territory its relates too cannot be taken by means of the ‘Revolution’ special mission. It’s important for Kages not to forget to keep thinks in check lest the open themselves to easy attack.
