Kuroi slipped his hand backwards to the spear on his back, the same as he suspected she would normally carry and tossed it over to her, as he did s he twisted his arm in an odd manner and the meteor hammer fell down to his hand and he caught it lightly "I'm useless with a spear, the only time I can use it effectively is if I'm stationary and my opponent is charging" Kuroi smirked lightly as he began to swing the meteor hammer out and about occasionally twisting it around his arm and shooting it into the air to gain its momentum

He smirked lightly and waited for her to ready herself "when you care to start you may" the large metal weight now had a considerable momentum and he no longer payed attention to it waiting eyes on Saya's hips ready to make an action if she started to move. The rope occasionally wrapping around arm body or neck never seemed to slow it down or even hinder his motion

He stood sideways feet just slightly wider apart than his shoulders and there was no extra weight on either of his legs giving him the ability to move in any direction at the drop of a hat, his torso twisted as needed for the rythm of the hammer on the string and he simply waited watching and reading for some sign of movement or strong points or possibly even weak points in her soon to come offense if I know an ashigaru I should have an upper hand if I'm patient enough, but then again, if she is to much faster than I am I'll be toast, and I'm itching for a fight as it is

His breath slowed suddenly as his eyes seemed to become blank as he fell into concentration blocking out all emotions and readying instinct of the body to coincide with the mind

Saya caught the spear as easily as it was thrown, though it was a little unlike her own. Saya’s yari bore more of a blade than most, but the overall length was about the same. She gives it a few good spins in her hands, then presents it out in front of herself forcefully. “Mmm.. it will work well enough, though it’s not as nice as mine.” She says, and looks back up towards her opponent. She takes just a moment to put her mask and then her helmet on, before she’s prepared. “Right.. If you’re ready then…”

She hesitates only a moment, then leans forward and rushes in. The general proximity made her short dash a quick one, and one she’d have to time right. The spinning weight certainly posed enough of a challenge, in that it’d break a few bones if it hit dead on; but it wasn’t to say she was unprepared for it. With the spear in her right hand, her left moves for more defensive measures. She tugs at the easy release strap holding her cloak across her shoulders, and lets it slip free. As the weighted end of the hammer flew towards Saya, she ducked beneath it and cast her cloak upwards and around the ball. The full 60 pounds of metal in her cloak wouldn’t let that rope swing very freely.

With the heavy cloak around the weighted ball, it’s far from her shoulders. Relieved of such a burden, Saya dashes forward with remarkable speed. In a few quick steps she’s beside Kuroi and swinging her spear upwards, thrusting the metal studded bottom of her staff into her his chest solidly. Saya didn’t need to hold back on such a blow. Even if she managed to crack a bone, Kuroi was a medic and would likely be okay.

In spite of her impressive speed, accomplishing she couldn’t accomplish much more than the one strong attack. The length of her spear and few options for maneuvering such a thing left her with only a few basic slashes, thrusts, and wide swings. Still, Saya seemed to know well enough what she was doing. After delivering the forward thrust with the blunt end of her spear she’s already spinning it around to present the blade in defense… or maybe offense.
