| The art of Ninjutsu was something the Uchiha clan had been excelling at for as long as Hiruzen could remember, being specifically well versed in the use of the fire style. In fact, their use of fire style was so well known that even Kiyomi, a shinobi he had fought in the Hidden Leaf village knew that it was one of his main elemental natures. While Hiruzen often relied more on the use of earth style and shadow clones along with his cunning and trickery, his strong affinity to the fire element could not be denied. There was a reason as to why the young Uchiha had to literally go through a trial of fire by showing how well they grasped the fire element, performing the Goukakyuu technique to show they were ready to take part in other activities and officially be recognized as a fellow Uchiha. When Hiruzen had done his, people had not exactly been impressed because he put in just the right amount of effort so he could please everyone and go back to playing in the forest of sanctuary. At the time, he did not have any strong ambitions in terms of becoming a powerful shinobi because he had never really had a strong role model in his life. His father had always been a mean drunk as a result of his mother dying shortly after he was born as a result of choosing to have her child and not having it taken away to make sure she would survive. While his father eventually redeemed himself at the cost of his own life during an attack on Hiruzen’s squad back when he was still a Genin, he was already twelve and hadn’t been given a lot of good memories aside from the way in which he died, showing that he still loved his family even after all the things he said and did.
Since that day, the entire clan had been hit quite hard and showed tell-tale signs of suffering in the Hidden Cloud. Luckily for him, he had people like his cousin, his uncle and his grandfather to look up to after his father died as this was the time when they became more involved with him in his every day life. Teaching him how to make the most out of his Sharingan and it’s perks and weaknesses, they also had various jutsu in their arsenal that they were happily passing down to Hiruzen as they knew that he had started becoming more hungry for power after his friends, his sensei and his father got murdered during a mission. It was his will to protect his family and his lust for power that often got people to use him for one goal or another. Used primarily for the sake of the clan and making sure their dominance as the strongest clan in the entire village remained untouched, the young Uchiha had been used to hurt people that hardly deserved it as far as he could see. During his period as a rising star in the clan and the village, he had been sent after civilians that gave the clan a bad name by spreading cowardly rumors about things they had not done. He had been sent after clans to challenge some of their best fighters and take them down as a means of proving their supremacy and had started believing that he was without a doubt the strongest person in the village at some point. When this happened, Hiruzen took the opportunity presented to him by the Raikage to challenge him to a spar between just the two of them. Going at it with everything he had, his intention had obviously been to win the fight while believing that such a thing was most likely not going to be possible for a Chuunin such as himself.
Putting up quite a fight to make sure that the man would remember who he was, he had landed a couple of attacks on him before he eventually had to quit due to a lack of chakra that might knock him out if he chose to continue. Having used his earth release, fire release and even setting up combination attacks along with his shadow clones and the Sharingan, it gave him some insight into how he should and how he should not be using his jutsu in order to make the best out of any given situation. While he had lost the fight against the man, he got the push he needed to seek out more power from sources less close to home. The Sharingan was a powerful tool to use in battle, though the fact that he had lost a fight he based on tactics and careful planning because the man used sheer force was something that truly pissed him off. It proved to him that planning things meant nothing in the face of simple power, straight forward as it was. Since that day, he had been on a journey outside of the village borders. Starting at the lightning temple, his journey had taken him all the way to the land of fire where he continued his training and research in the fire temple and in the Hidden leaf village. In the Hidden Leaf, he had gotten the chance to fight a weapon user and a Yamanaka on an urban battlefield. Unexpectedly, the fight in an urban area allowed him to make use of different forms of Ninjutsu that he did not use often in order to set up the entire battlefield in a way that worked out perfectly for him. Now that he was back in the lightning temple, he got to reflect on all the things he learned in the fire country, things he never even thought about while he was actually there.
In the mountains high above the temple, Hiruzen had learned that the Sakaki forest was a good place for people like him that wanted to train without a single person bothering them. This was mostly because the monks considered the forest to be a sacred place while a lot of monks that had gone through the pilgrimage trial had rather negative and sometimes even traumatic experiences about the things they had seen during their hallucinogenic journey to find their personal form of Nirvana. Standing in the center of a clearing, he closed his eyes and tried to calm his mind. Forming a string of seals, he made the earth rise up beneath him as well as creating several other earthen towers of varying lengths and sizes in a twenty meter radius around it. Keeping his eyes closed, he used the mental image of the terrain and the towers he had made and let that guide him as opposed to using his sight. Relying on this kind of thing would keep him from always relying on his eyes and Sharingan, giving him a chance of fighting when he would not be able to see anything. Using his physical prowess, the acrobatic moves took him from one pillar to the other with very little trouble. As he did so, he formed more hand seals and create several more structures out of the things he had already created with very little effort. After a couple of minutes, he had created a rather artistic-looking tower made out of smaller pillars of earth, achieving all of it through simple control over a specific element mixed with chakra control and nature manipulation. The exercise routine was something Hiruzen had come to call the “Pagoda” had become a way to not only increase his level of mastery over earth release, it also more or less forced him to learn to not rely on his Sharingan.
Standing on top of a tower that stood at a height of fifteen meters, the young Uchiha looked out across the misty valley beneath him, hardly being able to even see the temple from his current position. Looking down on where the temple was supposed to be located, the memory of him accidentally unleashing his chakra during a meditation came back to him. At the time, Hiruzen felt that something about the chakra he had awakened after the passing of the trials had left some augmentations, though he did not know what exactly had changed. Aside from the burning sensation he had experienced at the time, the only real thing he had to go with was that it was most likely something relating to his fire release. Deciding that it was worth looking into, he descended from the tower he had made and dropped down to ground level. Forming a new string of seals, he slammed his hand to the ground while letting his earth chakra flow into the soil to create four tall and wide walls in a box formation around him to make sure that he would not accidentally set the entire forest on fire when he trained in the solitude of the mountain. If Guroda knew that he was training up here, chances were that he would scold him and kick him out right away, though that did not really matter much to him right now. Once he was done here, he would be on his way to the village anyway, so him getting kicked out now would hardly be considered a punishment in the eyes of the young Uchiha. With the walls now standing around the tower he had created earlier, he had successfully isolated himself from the forest so he would not set the place on fire. Not fearing the consequences, it was because of his respect for the temple that he wanted to contain himself as much as possible.
Hiruzen had not been in a single battle or a spar since he had started his training in the monastery, so the exact limits of his Ninjutsu prowess after the release of his now unlocked potential and the hermit chakra he had been able to get access to remained to be seen. Activating his Sharingan, he started molding his chakra through high paced hand seals, he aimed for three specific locations along the length of the tower. Shortly after that, he spat three dragon shaped fireballs aimed at the base, the center and the top of the tower to send the entire thing crumbling down. While he had more or less expected something to happen, it felt odd to see that his fireballs had taken on the same color as his own chakra. Taking on a bright violet color, the fireballs crashed into the tower and caused the thing to topple and explode in several locations, sending rubble flying everywhere while two large sections of the tower came crashing down after it. Looking up to see that the entire thing was rapidly falling down on top of him, he spat yet two more dragon heads towards it to shatter it into smaller pieces. Wasting no time, he continued weaving seals for a lesser fire technique while reaching for his projectiles. Aiming and spitting out smaller balls of fire, he tossed his Shuriken into them to create a powerful counter assault to take down the pieces of rubble that came crashing towards him. Taking out the majority of rubble that came down with several potent fire jutsu, a lot of dust was kicked up as the whole thing hit the floor. Covering his mouth, he released the earthen walls around the pile of rubble to release the dust cloud into the open, causing it to dissipate at a higher pace. Looking at a few spots where the violet flames still burned a little, he was pleasantly surprised at the augmentation of his chakra. While his control could still be pushed further, it would have to do for the time being. |
