Itō Chiyo - Sunagakure Genin Vide
PostSubject: Itō Chiyo - Sunagakure Genin Itō Chiyo - Sunagakure Genin EmptyThu 08 Jul 2010, 6:30 pm

Basic Information:

Name: 伊藤 千世 Itō Chiyo; formerly Tetsumi Manami
Secondary Title: Chiyo-chan
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Physical Appearance: Dark skin, wealthy clothes, steady posture. That is what people see at first glance when looking at Chiyo. A young girl, she is an amalgamation of average and odd. Standing at 5’3 she weighs a little over what is in fashion right now, showing obvious mass to her frame. She is built stocky, with wide shoulders and thickset limbs which are offset by her long delicate fingers and careful way of maneuvering herself, appearing as if she is in full control of her body. Chiyo shows little signs of growing up and still carries the androgynous features of a child, though her hips are beginning to widen.

Her skin is well tanned, a shade of copper that one can only attain through overexposure to the sun. Beneath the tan however, it is obvious to those who know how to spot such things that her skin was originally a pale color, implying that she is not a native of Suna. The pallor of seclusion marks her eyes, the skin being noticeably ashen underneath the mask provided by the sun - lingering effects of being without sunshine for a prolonged period of time. Almond shaped eyes framed by thick lashes are a dark lacquered black, the same color as her long hair which is almost always tied up in fancy buns, beribboned and sometimes adorned with glittery hair ornaments. Chiyo has a particular fascination with antique baubles and she often incorporates them into her ensemble. Sometimes when she is feeling particularly poignant, she will create jewelry out of origami paper herself, however she often destroys the particular ornament after wearing it for a day. Sometimes she is not sure why, but usually Chiyo cannot stand to look at her creation at the end of the day and it always seems to look prettier as ashes.

Her clothes are of good quality, not entirely remarkable in the city though well above what would be considered poor. She is usually found wearing civilian clothes, particularly sun dresses of which her favorite is a brilliant white, though Chiyo manages to secret away the minimal amount of tools she needs. Often this results in her having left something important at home, but it is a cost one must pay for attempting to look as normal as possible.

Chiyo tends to act in two distinct ways. Her most favorite is the light-hearted walk of a frivolous girl, though often this is the least used form of conduct. Repeatedly she can be found carrying herself with purpose, high and determined with a proud tilt to her head, but not too proud. A girl has to know her place after all. Throughout this all she seems to hold within herself a steady self-assurance and confidence, perhaps not always in her abilities but simply in her personality.

Personality: There are two important things in life. Pleasing the people who have power over you, and ensuring that you’re still alive for tomorrow. In that respect, Chiyo can be incredibly self-serving. She has no real motives other then to survive, nothing which drives her to act nobly or otherwise. And yet, at the same time, she lacks ambition as well. Chiyo wants nothing for herself but to live, she has no hope for the future, no shining dream to work towards. Living, being there for one more sunset and one more sunrise is all that she really has for herself, the only definition for her existence, and she wants to extend every horrible or beautiful moment of it.

People have to realize the truths of life. If you behave, you won’t be punished. She follows that particular truth somewhat religiously, though not without her fair amount of resentment for authority. Submission is easy enough to create, and Chiyo doesn’t feel particularly embarrassed about that fact. She knows how to gauge a situation or person, and when it’s the right time to be particular or just fade into docility. Just because she accepts that it is a part of life does not mean she really enjoys it all that much, and Chiyo will lash out rather fiercely if she thinks someone lower than her is trying to tell her what to do. She also has the habit of asserting her own will over those weaker then her to make up for it. Chiyo justifies this to herself by saying she’s only teaching them about the real world, but in reality she likes knowing that they have to listen to her. In many ways she views this particular action as normal, and when under duress she often reverts to an overly subservient disposition.

Chiyo is a pleasant enough person, she is often polite with a sarcastic wit and enjoys listening to people talk. She revels giving of herself to others, for several convoluted reasons. It passes the time, and for that one moment she is needed and helpful. She is in control. Often this results in Chiyo bossily inserting her will into situations, attempting to make things better but really only being bothersome. In that sense she wants people to be happy, or at the very least functional around her. If there is an issue, she wants to smooth it away so that she will not have to deal with it or face the fact that she cannot surround herself with peace and ease. She can get overly stressed out if a situation is taken completely out of her control, and relishes whatever subtle power she has over circumstances to keep herself feeling safe.

Her driving force is life itself. No matter how bad any situation gets, the ability to breath, to smell the wet scent of ink in the air and to eat fresh onigiri are indispensable. Whatever she has to do, however far she has to fall to justify living, Chiyo is willing. Not that she’s really aware of that part of herself, being able to fluently create excuses for the way she lives her life. In that one thing, she has a choice. To live or die. To wake up or continue sleeping. To skip or walk. And those choices are preciously hoarded, her one true freedom.

Fear is a well-worn companion, for there are many dark things under the bed and the night is not always soft and enveloping. She knows well the fear one feels for oneself, that particular emotion having burned its own particular path through her synapses. Pain, danger, confrontation. There are subtler triggers as well, though sometimes they are the stronger of the mix: rejection, failure. Chiyo is used to fear, its become a friend of sorts, a constant companion. It’s absence would leave her bereft, unsure of how to navigate the balmy waters without its warnings and guidance.

She is familiar with happiness as well. The energy the sun gives her body as it beats down from the open sky. The sweet scent of tsukemono and the godly feel of cool water against a parched throat. The pride of a question answered correctly and the corresponding indulgent smile. The thunk of a weapon hitting its mark. The perfect crease in a tricky piece of origami. A fond pat on the head. The last page in a good book. The way her dress seems to float in the wind when she walks just so. There are plenty of ways to derive happiness from life, and Chiyo tries to learn from all of them.

She is compelled to watch people, often stopping in the street to stare or unable to resist listening in to the conversation at the table next to her. It is both a hobby and an obsession, to study and observe how other people act. How they live. Every aspect: love, grief, pettiness, rapture, greed. She collects each detail like little jewels, storing them away for when the night falls. That is when she can put all her information together, and imagine what life was like for one of those people, what it would be like if she was them. She especially looks for people who have similar traits to herself, enjoying an exhibitionist like sense of joy from watching them. Chiyo studies geography and other cultures as well, following whatever news she can get of the outside world and the people populating it. Her favorite story is of a girl living in Konoha just alongside the vast Hokage Monument. Every morning when she rose, the girl would be able to stare in awe at the white walls of the Hokage’s Office awash with the colors of the sun and smell the warm scent of ramen broth being prepared early. Maybe, if things had turned out differently, Chiyo likes to think to herself, then that girl would have been her.

Thus, due to this heritage clan members per rank have a larger chakra capacity B-Rank = 10%, A-Rank = 15%, S-Rank 20%. Also, due to the contant strain and development in training their chakra control all jutsu cost 15% less chakra to perform. Members of this clan are reknowned throughout Konoha for their skills and talent for base chakra control, and with this they have a high population of their clan going and training in medical arts.

Most shinobi of this clan have mainly the same fighting style which is a collaboration of paper manipulation with weapons, traps and sealing. Also, due to the clan's ability to completely manipulate paper many clan members that wish to follow this field become very talented with chakra and have advanced chakra control, because of the sheer difficulty of their abilities. This makes performing other techniques based around chakra a breeze as their level of control is so precise and accurate.

Kekkei Genkai:

Paper Manipulation:
Member's of the Tetsumi Clan have the inate ability to completely manipulate paper. Paper manipulation, the ability to manipulate paper at will to control, move, shape, form, and harden. The ability to manipulate paper is very straight forward as it allows those to shape paper with great detail, harden and forming it to great shapes and control in large scale. This requires no handseals with a member of the clan being able to freely manipulate paper with a flick of the hand or even without any movement at all. Though this ability does take the complete concentration of the user and the more advanced the member becomes in controlling the paper, the more effortless this task becomes. While basic member's of the Tetsumi Clan use the paper to harden it into simple paper shuriken, or kunai, advanced users can fold the paper into weapons or animals that fight at their will or can even change the colour of the paper to blend into it's surroundings. The clan's complete domination over the material paper means that they can demand the manipulation of any paper whether be explosive tags, scroll's or any other paper based substance, which makes this clan's ability very versatile and unique.

The papers then start to circulate around the opponent ina a large radius cutting off all areas of escape moving at incredible speeds. If the opponent stays in the tornado too long, they would be cut up to pieces as the pieces of paper will moves across the tornado cutting through the opponent. It is used as a defensive technique to defend against attacks, when a layer is destroyed the paper will peel away and another will form in it's place, creating a continued layer of defense on the users body. However, this requires an immense amount of chakra maintain, and it can quickly drain the user. Thus, a clan member should only uses it unless they absolutely has to. But the effectiveness of the jutsu is undeniable it can more often than not render an attack absolutely useless, but the true power of the technique is how it can easily be replaced.

Rank Information:

Rank: Genin
Village Affiliation: Sunagakure

Special Information:

Character Speciality:
Main: Medical Ninjutsu
Sub: Ninjutsu
Elemental Affinity:
Main: Fuuton
Sub: -
Special Characteristics: Chiyo is very used to making delicate and firm motions quickly and with little thought due to her practice of origami. Because of that, her fingers are more dexterous and are able to move very quickly and conduct many fine motor actions that require precise motions. She is adept at simple slight of hand tricks because of this, and her speed when forming seals is above average.

Chiyo has acclimated herself to fear in most situations, and has even been able to turn it to her benefit. Instead of the normal reaction to the emotion, she often remains calm and simply takes stock of where the fear is originating from, perceiving it as more of a warning and a sign then anything else. This applies to even amplified fear tactics, though taking into account her mental state and age she is still susceptible to extreme terror.

Because she spends so much time studying people, both in her Village and outside, Chiyo is adept at blending in. It’s not so much that she is good at acting, although if she really concentrates hard she would be passable at that, but more a knowledge of body language, what different people seem to expect and the ability to emulate those things properly. She perceives more things from body language then she does from verbal input, an instinctual response to the firm knowledge that a tone of voice usually disguises true intent whereas actions don’t. This also allows her a certain amount of information about the important people in the outside world. Due to her isolation within Suna and the propaganda which is rampant there, she only really knows a bit more than is average and realizes enough to keep tight-lipped about it.

Background Information

History:

Birth Arc

She remembers the scent of her mother’s hair, of oil and hard metal. She remembers how the sunlight streaked down as she hovered her hand above the grass, giggling at the tickling sensation of greenery. She remembers how she cut her thumb, pulling at a katana without comprehending what it was, the edges glimmering and shiny. A light touch, and then as if magic there was a bubbling of blood, a little crimson dot. No pain, because she hasn’t realized what has happened. She remembers Konoha. She does not remember her name.

Childhood Arc

After that came the dark times. The body trade was a very lucrative profession, everyone wanted children in those days. And those with special blood, well they were particularly valuable. She likes to think that they snatched her up one day when she had toddled out of her mother’s sight, she does not want to imagine that she could have been sold to the men for money. It doesn’t matter though, because no one tells you how it happened and things are too fast and people are too young and eventually its all a blur.

She doesn’t know how old she was when they took her, maybe four or five. But she remembers the dark rooms, the cloying shadows and the press of bodies. The cellars and basements where they were kept. They moved often enough, but without light it all seemed the same anyway. Always hungry always tired. You could get used to the dark, begin to see a bit and learn to recognize what sounds meant something was about to happen. You could never get used to the smell though. The stench of unwashed bodies and fear, mixing together in a heady brew until you dreamed of the smell, woke up feeling as if you were about to vomit but knowing not to waste the food in your stomach.

They had no names, everyone was taken too early or else they didn’t bring them up. They responded to onna no ko or otoko no ko and the adults were Sir or Ma’am. She remembers one time, when they decided to make their own names. Childish dreams of the outside mixed with hope. She doesn’t remember what she came up with, something about a flower. She remembers when the men found out, and the kid who received the resulting beating for using his. She remembers how everyone seemed to have forgotten about them after that event.

Throughout it all though, she was special. It was in her blood. She knew this because if another kid spilt hers, he was the one who was punished and she was ignored. It all looked the same splattered on the floor, and she never tasted anything special in the coppery liquid when her lip split, but somehow it was precious and everyone knew not to spill it. There were other kids like that, ones with even better blood then hers, and she knew well enough not to try and steal their food. No one wanted to touch them, for fear of getting in trouble.

She remembers the day the women came for her, ushering her up the stairs and into the light. She remembers the terror, the way it burst until all her being was horror and how it burned its passing in her bones. She remembers trying to blink the light out of her eyes, unable to adjust and terrified by her sudden blindness. The hands were firm on her shoulders, tugging her along the unfamiliar territory. She remembers the rush of air as they pulled her shift off, the sudden shock of warm water as she was prodded into the bath. The pain of a comb running mercilessly through her hair, the sting of tears. When they were done and she was presentable, dressed in a clean shift with her hair floating weightlessly around her head, she felt as if she was floating away herself. Lost in the air, heading for something.

She remembers the wood passing beneath her bare feet as they walked back down the hallway, the strict voice of one of her keepers as they instructed her on what to do, and the sudden openness of the room she was brought into. She remembers the first time she saw Itō Nobu, her first glimpse of his grave face, the charismatic lilt of his voice and the steady burning flame in his eyes. It was as if someone had plucked an ember from the fire and stuck it there, a captured desire for everyone to see. She remembers kneeling in the corner of the room, the discomfort of the unfamiliar position and the way her eyes wandered inescapably towards Nobu and the man sitting across from him. They talked but she does not remember the words, only the clink of coins as Nobu pushed a bag across the floor. The man opened it to check, tilting the contents until he was satisfied, and in that moment she became Itō Chiyo, and she remembers exactly when she realized her soul had been sold; as Nobu finally glanced over at her and smiled.

Childhood Arc II

Itō Nobu was a prominent business man in Sunagakure. He made good money ‘adopting’ children and making the most out of their talents. Chiyo soon learned that he lived in a large apartment with various other children, an expensive flat in the vibrant city. She also learned rather quickly, that she was special here too. She was the only child who was indulged in practicing origami, a past time that no one else was allowed. And during her lessons, Chiyo noticed how Nobu favored her with leniency. The attitude one took to a favorite pet. Chiyo was his cash prize, the only one with a bloodline.

It was not an entirely bad life. She was seven at the time Nobu bought her, and he provided the children with food and shelter and indeed often high-quality items. She was expected to pay attention to her lessons and study the material in the books given to her. They were persuaded to exercise and train their bodies. It was a special honor if Nobu himself overlooked their training, but he also paid for an instructor for them. They were pushed, but not beyond their limits. In her free time, Chiyo was allowed to do several things. She could study or practice, make origami or if she could get an escort she was allowed outside to take in the city. If you behaved, everything went well. If you misbehaved, you were punished. Chiyo only needed one beating to learn to remember her lessons and missing meals was a lot more effective when you were involved in vigorous physical activity.

Genin Arc

Chiyo did not join the Academy. She received all of the required training at home, including specialized lessons that focused on her particular abilities. Thus it was that when Nobu informed her she could finally take the Genin test at twelve that she jumped at the chance. It was not an overly complicated exam, and Chiyo passed with average grades. Having accomplished the first hurtle set up for her, she was granted more freedom. Time to herself to spend on approved activities and even a small allowance. Whatever money she made from missions was given directly to Nobu, and she rather enjoyed the handful of D rank missions she managed to complete on her own. Each time she returned home having finished a mission, she knew Nobu would pat her on the head and smile proudly.

Time passed in that manner, as Chiyo continued to hone her skills in search of approval from Nobu. She was quite satisfied with her rank of Genin and the luxuries it afforded her. Often she could be found about the city that she thought of as home, immersing herself in the people and the lit up streets.

Role-Play Sample:

Mai maintained the standard distance between her target and herself, his height allowing her to keep sight of him even through the swarm of people. Now that she was in action she focused only on the pursuit, pausing here and there to maintain some semblance of a cover. Mai knew no matter how hard she tried she would not be successful, but that did not mean she should not make her best attempt, and it would be insulting if she openly followed the Kiri-ninja. It would show that she held no respect for his skills, and besides, even if something was going to be a failure, it was still practice nonetheless. Thus she held back, sweeping the street with her eyes and trying to act like she normally did. That was not necessarily an advantage, for Mai was never precisely low-key, and her tense stature was abnormal even on the best of days. She kept close to other people, pausing to look into their faces as if she was part of a group, her footsteps quiet and calculated. It was easier to track in the woods then through a crowd, since all you had to do was ensure you gave off no sign of your presence, a complicated task to keep everything in mind, but far simpler than blending in with a group, and for all that she had a visual on her target, the girl was not satisfied.

The Kiri-nin seemed to simply be meandering. He appeared relaxed even amongst a crowd full of potential enemies, his back straight but not stiff and his eyes moving from point to point without the rapidity of distrust. Indeed, he seemed to be strolling, taking in the appearance of their Village with curiosity. The streets were thronged with civilians and Shinobi alike, everyone trying to go about their normal business while still watching this stranger in their midst. The civilians were curious, though there was some lingering fear there too. Everyone still remembered what it was like in the camps, when any ninja could be an enemy and when murder raged through their numbers like a plague. We are not so domesticated yet, Mai mused to herself, watching as a mother hurried her child inside. The same fears remained throughout the years. It was not so with our own ninja, for they had proven themselves to be family, proven that they would protect the civilians. Konoha was one group, and while there was fear of things that were far too well known, there was also the unfamiliar hope that life would continue on as it had for these few years. There were ninja though too, leaning casually against buildings or in small groups, their eyes following the path of the Kiri-nin with interest and no small amount of wariness. No one knew what to expect, and their happy life right now was so fragile, such a precious thing hanging from only a tenuous thread. There were too many what ifs in their lives. What if they lost the Sandaime? What if another war broke out? What if they could not feed their children again? What if the missions stopped coming in? What if this previous life they had built disappeared?

While shadowing her target Mai had managed to assemble more physical material on him. She was not entirely certain what her intent was with tailing him, and thus the need to collect as much information as possible was higher than normal. Male, in his early twenties. He towered over most everyone else by several inches, and she estimated his height at five feet and nine to ten inches, though it was hard to tell at her outlying position. A lean build accompanying his height seemed to imply that he actually weighted quiet a lot, as bone density was important. Though she was not close enough to make any conjecture on musculature, he was obviously not overtly solid. Instead he moved supply, the flow of his clothes concealing any other aspects of note. The red hair had been the first giveaway, a dark tint of scarlet which was illuminated by sunlight. His skin was somewhat pale, although nothing that truly stood out even amongst the tanner residents of Konoha. She had yet to get a look at his face or his more determining features, and Mai tried to close the distance between them for a short moment. Ranging forwards and backwards in one of the patterns she had read about in her books on tactics.

Mai had to halt though, turning to the side to cover up her sudden stop as the man turned onto a lateral path which led to one of the many cultivated parks close by. There would be less people there, and once he got to the park she would only have the flora to rely on. That seemed somewhat of an advantage at the moment, but there were other things this change in course could indicate. Assuming he knew she was following him, this could very easily be an ambush. Mai attempted to disregard that thought, because it made little sense for a delegation to be acting hostile, however she was still on edge. This also possibly meant that he was meeting with someone else at the park, or even that he simply wanted to get away from the more prominent streets. Conversely he could be trying to draw her out… She frowned faintly at the thought, before recovering her composure.

It was not that she did not wish to be found out, since there was little possibility she was not already, but Mai still had no particular desire to just walk out into the open. She wanted to observe the Kiri-nin, and that involved staying unengaged. The street he had turned down was short, only a few minutes travel to the park, and she waited until it was likely that he had already reached his destination before heading back out. Unless he cut across the grounds, there was no other direction to go in, the walls of a major building blocking in the back and left side of the gardens. Traveling slowly, she walked on the balls of her feet, stepping lightly before putting down her full weight in order to test the dirt trail. She was still intent on her task, forgetting for the moment that stalking was generally not well received and that her attention might be a bad thing. Such conventions were not important now that she had lost her visual, what was important was reaching a safe place and continuing her function. She eventually came to the end of the path, where the trees converged and the land opened up into a grassy plain. There were a few ornamental bushes lining the walkways, a wide array of plants tangling their way across the small field. She had been silent, and she had hopefully given enough time for it to appear as if nothing was out of the ordinary, enough time for a guard to be relaxed, though that seemed a bit farfetched. Settling behind the trunk of one of the larger trees that grew next to the end of the path, she contemplated scaling the young willow. She could certainly do so without moving the branches, but her bodies’ motion was sure to draw attention. It was a pity though, because she could only hazard the smallest tilt to the side, which gave her sight very little scope or range. Doing her best to suppress her chakra signature, the little Genin waited calmly, intent on watching her now stationary target.

Just to inform you, your RP sample is basically supposed to be what you post on average in every topic? Will you be able to post about that daily like in your role play sample?

Please be aware that you may only use up to C-Ranked jutsu even if they are your clan jutsu.

And although you have not added a secondary element, one may be added inrpg.

Otherwise this looks good.

Aapproved.
