[b]Clan Traits:[/b] Visually Ikiga Clan members have no special similarities, but they tend to be dark-haired.

[b]Kekkei Genkai:[/b] Ikigas have a very complex system of bloodline - its actually just a crippled chakra net. Unlike normal people, who have 8 Chakra Gate Sytsem "Hachimon", Ikigas possess a twice larger 16 Chakra Gate System [b]"Nibaikon"[/b] [Dual Soul]. It is believed that each Ikiga has two souls, and that is why they have twice as much chakra gates.

But not only the count of Chakra Gates is different - they function completely differently than in Hachimon system. First of all, Ikigas are capable of opening these gates disregarding their order.
A lot of them divide their original purposes.[list][*]1 - Gate of Vision - limits mind's natural hypnotic abilities, know as genjutsu.
[*]2 - Heal Gate - limits the amount of energy that is given out for controlling the body.
[*]3 - Gate of Mind - limits mind's natural hypnotic abilities, know as genjutsu.
[*]4 - Gate of Hunger - works as a storage for chakra absorbed through Spirit Gates.
[*]5 - Secondary Earth Spirit Gate - can absorb chakra.
[*]6 - Primary Earth Spirit Gate - can absorb chakra.
[*]7 - Secondary Heaven Spirit Gate - can absorb chakra.
[*]8 - Primary Heaven Spirit Gate - can absorb chakra.
[*]9 - Gate of Life - limits blood circulation.
[*]10 - Gate of Pain - limits the use of muscles.
[*]11 - Gate of Greater Pain - also limits the use of muscles.
[*]12 - Gate of Limit - limits part of the use of energy reserves.
[*]13 - Gate of Shock - limits the other part of energy reserves.

Hunger Gate, Primary and Secondary Spirit Gates are the real power of Ikiga clan. Hunger Gate works as a storage while Spirit Gates work as Vacuum cleaners, so to say. By releasing Spirit Gates the user can suck in a certain amount of chakra, which is then stored in Hunger gate. The Hunger gate slowly eats the absorbed chakra [but not fast enough to be of any meaning in a fight]. Ikiga members have learned to fuse the Absorbed Charka with user's own chakra to release strong clan techniques. However, Ikigas can only absorb chakra 4 times (in each time the user opens a Spirit Gate, so after 4 times they all have been opened.) Jounins and stronger nins can open the gates more than once, but that hurts, a lot. They would probably faint afterward. Absorbing costs no chakra and in each time of absorbing the user can absorb only techniques that are of his own level - D for Genin, C for Chuunin etc. By releasing two Spirit gates at the same time, the user can absorb a technique a level higher.
When absorbed, the absorbed chakra is stored in Hunger Gate.
Also, to be capable of using clan jutsus without the need of enemy chakra, Ikigas have learned to push their own chakra into Hunger gate, meaning that they can use their own chakra as a replacement of enemy's chakra so that they can use clan jutsus such as Bakuha.
Ikigas refer to their absorbing technique as "[b]Kiga[/b]" [Hunger]

However, if that were all what an Ikiga can do, they wouldn't be so famous. Their Vision and Mind Gates are also very special - they are connected directly with user's brains, limiting their natural telekinetic abilities know as genjutsu. That is why Ikigas dont tend to be genjutsu users, but they can if they really want to. Anyways - releasing a Vision or Mind gate creates a short but very strong genjutsu on a single opponent. Usually this is to create a decoy or something like that. It is cast very quickly and works only for a few seconds, so the opponents usually fall for the Genjutsu. The user has to have an eye contact with the opponent for this to work. Unlike Absorbing, opening Vision Gate and Mind Gate exhausts the user a lot, because of that Ikiga members tend to either not use them at all or use them only when there is no other way to get out of the situation. Only Jounins or higher level ninjas can open both Mind and Vision gates in a single fight, lower level ninjas can only open one [Both gates function the same way, so there is no difference in which Gate is opened.] Ikigas refer to their genjutsu technique as "[b]Iki[/b]" [Spirit]

Both techniques "Iki" and "Kiga" made other civilians refer to "Nibaikon" holders and users as [b]"Ikiga"[/b], hence the clan name. Ikiga however is not required as a surname for the clan members.

Side effects of having "Nibaikon" are that Hyuugas have a difficulty using their taijutsu techniques on Ikigas because the whole chakra net is different [for others the chakra net have differences as well, but not as extreme as Ikigas]. Also, Ikiga members cannot use "Hachimon" gate opening, obviously. Also Nibaikon holders cannot be best at genjutsu.

However, there is also a forbidden state for Ikigas. When born, all Ikigas have Nibaikon, which is now natural for them. However, Nibaikon system was achieved when fusing with another human. When fusing, the chakra system enlarged, changed its form. With Divine Judgment : Eternal Fusion jutsu, it is possible to fuse with a human, once again making changes to the chakra system, going from "Nibaikon" to [b]"Arashikon"[/b] [soul storm] - a 24 Chakra Gate System.

This "state" not only enhances both "Iki" and "Kiga" abilities, but also gives new options:[list][*][b]Kiga[/b] - Instead of 4 times, it is now possible to absorb chakra for a total of 8 times, due to Spirit gate count increase. Also, for Kekkei Genkai Jutsus - only absorbed chakra is needed (Except [color=blue]Kushi Jutsu[/color]), the user no longer has any need to infuse their own chakra for the jutsus.
[*][b]Iki[/b] - Now it is possible to release the genjutsu three times without feeling great pain, because of the gate increase.
[*][b]Jinsei[/b] - The Chakra Gate Mutation has allowed to use the [b]Gate of Belief[/b] and[b] Gate of Angels[/b]. [list][*]Gate of Belief - converts user's a part of user's life force into chakra, equal to 2 A-rank jutsu, stored in Hunger Gate (thus it can only be used for clan jutsus). After three turns the user starts feeling dizzy and is incapable of fighting.
[*]Gate of Angels - converts all of user's life force into chakra, equal to 2 S-rank jutsu, stored in Hunger Gate (thus it can only be used for clan jutsus). After three turns the user dies.[/list][/list]

Arashikon is deadly, not only for the opponents. Not only it is very risky to even gain it, but after receiving Arashikon the user can no longer sleep. It is only possible to attain the desired rest by using strong drugs that slowly but surely reduce organism's immunity system, thus the user gets sick quickly, often these diseases cause slow death.

However, elemental kekkei genkai jutsus [such as ice] can be unleashed, because they are just a combination or variation of 2 elements. Casting of this jutsu uses up an equal amount of chakra in Ikiga's absorbed chakra storage [Hunger gate], plus chakra amount equal to a D-rank from the user's own chakra.

Blasts everything for 20 meters in the width of 60 degrees.

Creates 6 wolves who each can explode in a blast equal to a C-rank jutsu and are equal to a B-rank ninja speed-wise.

[b]Description:[/b] This is not a KG jutsu, anyone can master it, but it has been held secret between Ikiga clan members. This is a Forbidden technique. The jutsu makes the user fuse together with the opponent, locking him away in user's soul for eternity if successful. However, it is a 50:50 chance for it to be successful, if not - both of them die. Also, this jutsu makes changes in caster's chakra net, so, if a non Ikiga uses this, they lose their current kekkei genkai and gain Ikiga kekkei genkai [due to changes in chakra net, they gain Nibaikon instead of their Hachimon system ], however, when Ikiga does this, their Nibaikon changes into Arashikon. This jutsu must be done on a shinobi of the same rank or one lower or one higher [ +/- 1 ] than the user himself. For the jutsu to work, the opponent must be unable to move [trapped, unconscious - whatever prevents him from getting out of reach] and the user must be close to him.

A long time ago, there was a legendary Kumo ninja known as Hebi Hronus. He had a battle with equally strong ninja, when cornered Hronus had no other choice but to use his own developed forbidden sealing jutsu to seal his enemy into his own soul.
At that time, he noticed no side effects of this jutsu and the whole fight was never even mentioned in any history books. That is why the real origination of this bloodline is unknown to the most people, leaving only fairy tails and legends created by various people.

However, sealing the enemy caused the chakra net cripple, creating "Nibaikon". Only centuries later another strong Kumo ninja, Hronus's descendant, attempted to create a jutsu that would suck in opponents chakra, and he succeeded. He is know as Washi, the father of all Ikigas. It was pure luck that he did everything correctly, because he himself had no idea that he had 16 chakra gates. When he tried to teach others this jutsu, each and everyone who attempted to do it not only failed painfully, but sometimes died too. And so this technique was forbidden. Only when Washi's grandson tried to learn the same technique in secrecy and succeeded, Washi started studying the differences in their chakra structure.

It took a long time for Ikigas to realize that they have different chakra nets, only by help from Hyuugas and great Chakra Sensor type ninjas they could define "Nibaikon". By learning this, they started experimenting a lot. A lot of people died when trying to use these Gates, but thanks to that one of the strongest clans in Kumo was born.
At first Ikiga clan was viewed as a bloody and sick clan - the experiments really were sadistic and sick, countless Ikigas died. Because of this the clan had very strong beliefs in superiority - only the strongest survive. This affected how others saw them.
With time, however, the experiments stopped and "Nibaikon" was finally complete. It also changed how people were raised in this clan, strength was no more the most important thing. It still hasn't changed how other people think of Ikigas, though.

So, Ikigas reside in Kumogakure, chilling.
