| " Oh Divine One, lend me your strength and knowledge as I embark on the first steps of showing this world your power. The path of conquest begins now and I shall be part of it's beginnings. Please allow me to be able to fight for the truth and I shall start churches that will preach your divine will in every country that is trample beneath us. Amen." prayed Kakougan as he lay close to the ground in a low bow to show his humility. It was a big day for Kakougan and his cause, so big that he had actually fasted for 24 hours before it. Today he would be traveling to Bird Country to a Suna base on it's south border in order to prepare for an invasion. Not just any invasion, it would be the first in Suna's campaign for conquest. This made this specific battle one of the most important in Suna history. If it were to fail, everything would be lost and moral would cease to exist. Although the stakes were high, Kakougan had no intention to fail and believed that failure wasn't even an option. ' As long as He is on my side, I can not lose.' Kakougan thought as he picked himself up off the ground and went through the door to the ruined streets of the Suna suburbs.
The streets were less busy then they usually were, but then again, it was 3 in the morning. Kakougan was a morning person, he really didn't care how much sleep he got usually. Sleep deprivation never bothered him in the least when traveling or fighting due to his firm belief that he drew his energy from a divine source and not from his own mortal body. Kakougan had been assigned to travel with some genin that were also going on the mission. ' War isn't a place for children...' Kakougan thought as he neared the gate. Since no one was at the gate waiting at that time in the morning, Kakougan left a silver kunai with his name scratched into it that said "North". After leaving the note, Kakougan entered the sandy wasteland.
Since there was nothing better to pray for at the time and Kakougan had nothing else to do, he decided to continue praying for the success of his mission as he walked into the desert. Traveling through the desert was something Kakougan had no problem with. Most ninja would find the terrain difficult to travel across or have problems navigated. Kakougan on the other hand had no problem with this due to sheer experience with the desert. He had such an affinity with the desert that some called him ' The Hermit of the Desert' or other similar names. After reaching a few miles into it, Kakougan stopped and sat on a rock in order to wait for the genin that were supposed to be coming. ' They'd better be prepared for battle. I don't want anyone slowing me down.' Kakougan thought as he lounged and waited.

| She bit the inside of her lip, as her fingers ran through her bangs. The girl gave a sigh, as she checked her inventory, making sure everything was there. It wasn't.. very difficult, as she let a small smile flutter on her face, but that nervous energy filled her, as she walked across the desert. Vera was thinking about everything and nothing, her mind trying to wrap around concepts, and things she's seen. The girl felt that nervous energy fill her body, as the sand churned under her feet. It wasn't late, actually, it was a bit early. The sun was starting to pour down a bit, and the girl was wearing winter like clothing, which could be quite heated if she wasn't careful. Although a newly made genin, she heard her calling when she thought on it, her fingers playing with each other, as she felt something climb up her throat. She felt one of her feelings rise up, and her cheeks blushed, as she finally saw a shape in the distance. She hadn't been walking too long, but long enough.
Her small, tiny frame ended up near the shape, to realise that she was well.. dwarfed by this.. man? Was something wrong with him? The girl was unsure, as she shifted from side to side, bitting into her lip. She was too new, that's what she was afraid of.. Vera didn't want to be turned away. ''Sir..?'' she said shyly, ducking her head a bit, so that the tip of her blue eyes shone through white strands. Many would say she was acting too cute on purpose, but with Vera, it felt like the sheer truth. There was no way to overturn that innocence, as she waited nervously, moving her two kendo sticks at her waist, shifting the katana placed horizontally at her hips as well. There was a stick on each side, as on her arms, it was obvious there was some sort of device, mostly named a katar, a dagger on your arm kind of deal. Also on her hips were her shinobi back, and a whip, with the katana resting above the medical pack. If anything, this newly graduated genin was almost a walking armory.
And the small girl was shy, but excited for her first mission.. even if it was an invasion. |

| "Late, late. Damndamndamn!" The muttered rant spilled into almost incomprehensible realms as the young woman dashed frantically back and forth between two of the rooms in her apartment. On her bed lay a collection of item packs, all varying in size and shape and presumably, purpose. Two exquisitely crafted tanto had been scattered to the side of the assortment of pouches, both blades identical, down to the intricate markings on the tang. A busy figure bustled into the room, trying to fix a strapping on her left hip. "Oh great, thanks Rin. It's not like I could do with a hand or anything." She exclaimed, somewhat crossly. Down at her feet, her small feline companion had arrived, covered in mud and had immediately set about traipsing it through the house. Tutting, the kunoichi turned her attention back to the strapping. Finally getting it sorted, she began to take item pouches, one at a time, and secure them to her belt. "Rin, you know I'm leaving soon, don'tcha?" She called out, her voice much softer than before, as if apologetic for her earlier outburst. As she fastened the final pack to her midriff, the little cat came stalking back in, ignoring the woman entirely. "You'll regret that if I don't make it back." She teased, trying to coax him out of his sulk. Grabbing the tanto now, she sheathed them in special straps on her outer thighs. Rolling her sleeves up, she checked a curious attachment on each forearm before about facing and glancing in the mirror. "Oh for goodness sake, Kas. You said yourself you're late. Stop preening." The diminutive feline yawned as he hopped up onto the now clear bedspread. "And don't worry, I won't wait up." He added, sarcastically. Smiling at this, the young woman breathed a sigh of relief at finally being ready, before darting toward the front door. "See you, Rin!" She called out as the door closed smartly behind her. The cat simply rolled his eyes.
Kasumi Satake was rarely ever late. She cursed her luck that the one time her organization let her down was a particularly critical one. Fortunately, she had reckoned that by taking little known shortcuts and running much faster than would usually be expected, she could catch up on lost time. After all, she had been given a position within this mission that required her to be dependable. It would not look good at all if she turned up late. Her shortcuts served her well, and the kunoichi arrived, albeit breathlessly, at the gate. Only... there was no one else there. Kasumi's bewilderment was short-lived however. She soon noticed a glistening kunai left at the gate's edge. The position told the woman that it had been left to rest there, not having fallen by accident or somesuch. Upon investigation, it was a signpost, directing the woman to the north - out into the desert. "Great." She sighed, wrapping a black scarf around her mouth and neck to weather any sand being whipped up, though it left her eyes vulnerable. They were a favourite feature of Kasumi's - soft, silvery-blue and framed by long dark hair. Below the scarf, she wore a short-sleeved, golden-yellow shirt with black markings and trims. Underneath this, a black netting undershirt, though only noticeable from the ends of the sleeves that surpass those of her overshirt's. Both garments were relatively tight-fitting, framing her figure perfectly. Finally, a pair of elbow-long, black, fingerless gloves. Below the waist, black trousers with yellow-gold markings at the thigh. Thin, barely noticeable shin guards were strapped just above her feet, on which simple black boots (reaching just beyond her ankles) were donned.
As she made her way through the desert, she ofund the winds to be far less punishing than they could have been. Sometimes, it felt as if the land itself did not want anyone leaving the village. In light of this, Kasumi decided to loosen her scarf. As she did so, her gaze flitted to the horizon and caught sight of a lone figure, seemingly sat atop a protrusion in the sand. A rock, the kunoichi presumed. As she drew closer, she noticed that in fact, the figure was not alone, a much smaller person stood beside. Approaching the pair now, Kasumi wondered why she hadn't recognized the hulking form of Kakougan sooner. Not that the two had seen much of each other, but enough to skip formalities. Perhaps. She began to question whether he actually remembered her. That said, he was certainly a hard person to forget, whereas she... Brushing the thought aside, she approached the young girl who stood beside him, clearly a little intimidated by his sheer bulk. The girl had astonishingly silvery-white hair, which gave her a somewhat innocent look, along with gentle features. This belied the kind of shinobi she was, given the small war she must be waging from the looks of all the weaponry about her person. "Oh, don't be scared of this fella'." Kasumi laughed, walking up to stand beside the girl. "He won't bite." She added, cocking her head to one side and waiting for Kakougan's reaction. |

| After a while of waiting on top of his rock, Kakougan saw a figure coming towards him that eventually ended up standing next to him. At first, Kakougan thought that the figure was some sort of desert animal due to it's small stature. This proved incorrect when Kakougan saw a small, fragile, and innocent looking child standing in front of him. When Kakougan was called for an invasion of Bird Country he had expected that the ninja accompanying him would be the best of the best. He was expecting big strong genin and not the tiny child standing there. Honestly, Kakougan was taken aback by the child but he remained his composure and contained himself with only a small frown showing his inner thoughts. Looking at the girl, Kakougan could see that she was indeed frightened at the thought of the invasion like he had presumed. All around her body were weapons of various types that she apparently planned on carrying across the desert. Kakougan rolled his eyes at the sight of all the weapons and let out a small sigh. Being an expert on the desert, Kakougan knew that carrying so much equipment was just a bad idea since it would slow you down and wear you out. This was especially true in the case of the small genin Kakougan was now stuck on the mission with. Not saying a word, Kakougan waited for anyone else that may be coming.
After a few awkward minutes of standing like a giant next to the small girl while exchanging glances, Kakougan spotted another figure in the distance. There were only two things Kakougan could tell about the person approaching from that distance. One was that it had to be either a girl or an extremely feminine man due to the hour glass shape of the person. The second thing was that he or she was wearing yellowing, which was hard to see against against the shining sands. As the figure got close, Kakougan could see more and more of it and who it was became apparent. It was Kasumi, a fellow Jounin from the village. Although it was true that Kakougan didn't really believe in friends and didn't like a lot of the people in Suna, the jounin were an exception. The reasoning for this was that Kakougan figured that if he could convert the higher ranked ninja in the village, the faith would trickle down to the lower ranked ninja and eventually to civilians. In order to do this, Kakougan made it a point to remember every jounin so that he would always be able to stay on their good side. The only problem with this was that he lacked any knowledge about the actual individual and was stuck with only a name and a face. As Kasumi approached Kakougan acknowledge her entrance into the group with a small nod. Looking at Kasumi, Kakougan attempted to remember anything he could about her so that he would have something to work with and think over before the actual planning of the attack. After a few seconds of thinking, Kakougan gave up. He had never even seen Kasumi fight, let alone know anything about how she went about it. ' Oh well, I guess I'll find out some more about her later.' Kakougan thought to himself as Kasumi walked over to the genin.
The genin, who hadn't introduced herself yet, was still seemingly petrified at Kakougan and Kasumi noticed that as soon as she entered the group. In an attempt to loosen the tension, Kasumi made a joke to the genin about Kakougan, who was still wondering if others were going to come. Kakougan didn't start paying attention to Kasumi until she actually started talking and turned towards the genin when he did realize he was the topic of some discussion. After listening and seeing Kasumi obvious 'Be nice' gesture, Kakougan let out a small laugh before continuing on with his response. " Well, that certainly doesn't mean that I can't. Don't worry though, I reserve my teeth for more suitable meat." Kakougan said as a joke, hoping it would be received correctly. " Now child, I don't understand why you have so much gear on you. You should know that this isn't going to be just a stroll around the block. This is the desert, and you're going to wear yourself out carrying all of those weapons. Let me carry them for you, we need you to not be completely worn out by the time we get there." Kakougan said in a more serious tone than before as he took all of the genin's weapons and held them in his hands and over his shoulders. Though the weapons look like quite the load on the genin, they looked more like ornaments when slung over Kakougan's shoulders. " Just remember, a weapon is only as strong as it's user. Don't rely too much on these cheap trinkets." Were the last words Kakougan said before pulling his gas mask over his face and taking the first steps towards Bird Country.
The group traveled all day until they reached the border of Bird Country at which point they pulled out their maps and went to the location of the camp as the stars illuminated the sky.
