Time for something to promote creativity. I wanna see how you all go creating a site banner, this will most likely not replace the current one since we are so in love with it but we are wanting to see who has the creativity and ability that we are interested in to maybe fill a graphics position in the staff, if not; some other award will suffice if there is a clear winner.

If anyone fancies being an absolute sweetie and giving me suggestions to help out with finishing this, I'd be really grateful.
1. I'm very unhappy with the colour selection, which might either be solved by A) a new colour scheme or B) a different use of colours in the backdrop (keeping the texture). The red and orange kinda have to be there, but its the supplementary colour that irks me.
2. I'd like to get "A Naruto RPG" in there somewhere... I left the space underneath US2.0 clear for it, but it doesn't want to sit nicely for me. Tch.
3. It's a few pixels out of the current specifications (bloody rounded border). Is that a problem?

So, any suggestions? Also, layout/general design working or not for you guys?

Well it might feel a bit crowded but adding a third card with the two adds the sense of completeness that the number 3 usually carries with it and generally makes it more appealing to the human brain, other than that I've got nothing.

I totally agree! Annoyingly, I can't do that though. See, the card backgrounds aren't mine. So taking a rendered stock (say, Sakura/Kakashi) and sticking it in isnt viable w/out the background. Learning to create them would be a pain, considering I've only just got enough time to draft this together as is. I assure you, if I could, I'd be jumping on your advice as I type. Razz

I could use different images altogether, but I really like these two...

Hm, well probably just position them at a wider angle and put something in the middle then like a kunai, it still gives the illusion of a third object in the set that way, lots of ways to make the three show up :p

I really like your banner Fox, it's definitely different from what I've seen before, and I commend you for that. I'm not much of an expert, but I've done some graphics before, and studied some others, and hopefully this will help you in some way.

1. I'm not sure if the box around the text fits well. It's a bit choppy and kinda sticks out. I think if you took it out, you'd have space for "A Naruto RPG".

2. I like the text, but if it's taking too much space, don't be afraid to change it to something a bit simpler. It's a cool font, and goes all right with the banner, but you could probably find something better as well if you prefer to fit "Ultimate Shinobi 2.0" in one line. Also, don't be afraid to add a bit of 'flair' to the text if you decide to change the colors of the banner, then I would recommend adding more proportions to the letters (like capitilizing the first letters of US, or anything else you'd like).

3. I really love the colors, great choice, along with the pictures. I can see what Master Exploder is saying about having three, but I don't think anyone else would really fit well in the scene. I honestly think the manga is about those two main characters (Naruto and Sasuke), and it's great you brought that to the banner. So, unless you decide to talk about Adam about changing the forum colors/icons, etc, then definitely keep the colors. They're great. The texture is really cool as well.

4. I don't think you should worry about the size. The length and height still seem to be met, so I think you're fine on that too. If you want to get rid of the white boxes, and you're using Photoshop to make this, put the preset to "PNG-24". I'm not sure if it works on others, but you could try that.

I really like Britt's banner because has a cool "new-age" look going for it. Then again, I also like Fox's because it really looks original and pops out at you. Both my favorites. I probably won't be entering, but if I do, I'll let ya know. Razz

Well it's not completely finished and I still didn't find the right font for it but I'm searching. But I wanted to show you how it's coming out and maybe give me some idea. Also I would really appreciate if you could PM me a font that you think it would go really well with this banner because I don't want to put just anything that would eventually ruin the banner.

EDIT: Ok here they are. Yeah it isn't a big change because everything I tried to do made the banner look bad. I hope the fonts are good though. Also I made a darker and lighter version. Personally I prefer the darker one. Only thing I did to finish the banner was just add a clipping mask and messed around with curves and that's it.

Time spent: Around 2 or 3 hours
