Personal Ghosts ~ Disillusionment
"Life is not lost by dying; life is lost minute by minute, day by dragging day, in all the thousand small uncaring ways." - Stephen Vincent Benét
Initake awoke from his deep slumber, ready to tackle the day as if it were like any other. He dragged his :corpse from hi light blanket, and then made his way through his den and into the bathroom, where he then undressed himself. After doing so, he turned the knob of on his shower to the desired temperature and stepped in. He enjoyed showering, because just standing there, relaxed takes away all of the stress that the previous day had carried over into the present day. So, as the stress melted from his conscience and body, he began to recite the lyrics form a son he had remembered hearing yesterday. But, before he fell asleep, he reminded himself that he had to get his day started eventually, so after a while, approximately a half hour later, he stepped out of the shower, through the den once again, and back into his bedroom.
Little did he know, his stress were to reach insurmountable levels within the ensuing hours.
Reaching the dresser in his bedroom, which stood beside his bed to the left, but leaving one to get out of it and have plenty of room to maneuver, he took out the appropriate clothing for the day. It was still fairly warm, but a cool day considering it was Sunagakure. It was only supposed to reach a high temperature of 78-80 degrees, about ten degrees cooler than average this time of year. So, after fetching his short sleeved black t-shirt, and his pair of black shorts, he headed to the kitchen to concoct a breakfast for himself.
Since his kitchen kept all of the necessary and unnecessary things o his home, it was hard to find anything in here, but Initake managed to find everything all the time. He's part dog, after all. Upon sniffing out the bread to make toast, he also found a knife in one of the drawers. He then plopped the pieces of bread into the toaster and awaited their pop-up.
No matter how prepared he was for the pieces of toast to pop out of that toaster, he always jumped; frightened. But today, he was determined. He stared at the toaster, ready. But when it popped up, the result was the same. He buttered his toast, an devoured it in seconds, realizing that his shower put him behind schedule. So, he grabbed a jacket just in case, and ran out the door. He always checked his mail before he went anywhere, so he stopped at his mailbox in front of his house, and checked his mail, and he saw something astonishing in there.
The solitary thing that sat in his mailbox was a sealed scroll, which had the Kazekage's Seal of Approval. s it a mission or something? I just returned from one yesterday.... It must be urgent. He thought to himself. But, as he read the contents of the letter, his expression and mood dropped like a rock. What.... this.... can't be true..... But it's from Kazekage-Sama... it has to be.... NO! NO! NOOOOOO! His toughts exploded in his mind. He had no more time to think.... he had to leave now.
He jumped to his roof, and hopped from roof to roof, ledge to ledge, getting to the Gates as quick as possible. He nearly fell numerous times, but he regathered himself quickly enough, for by the time he had the Gates in view, he was running off of adrenaline, rather than energy.
The Guards at the door tried to stop him, but Initake was so infuriated by the letter, he didn't even bother to shoe the Guard the seal. He merely jumped, planted his foot on the Guard's helmet, and leaped extremely high in the air, over the Gates. He was in the middle of the desert not soon after.
About Twelve Hours Later
Initake was still running, this time, through the ever changing climate we know as Fire Country. From the smoldering south, to the breezy coast, to the blistering cold north, Initake had experienced and endured it all, on his way to Yukigakure, all to get to the bottom of his father's death.
After about another hour of sprinting a third the way across the continent, Initake felt home. He was in familiar surroundings, and he felt as if he were being held, wrapped in blanket, comfortable. However, he was nearing Yukigakure, he could feel it. The scenery was familiar, he was about another twenty minute trek.
In These Twenty Minutes...
Within the twenty minutes it had taken him to reach the Gates of Yukigakure, thoughts ran through his head of what the letter could have meant. Gone. Gone by the Hand of Mystery. He distinctly remembered this from the scroll. I must know..... an whoever did this.... must pay. It was evident it was murder. But by who? Or WHAT? If only Initake knew the beginning.
