Name: Advanced Knowledge of Science Rank: B Rank Type: Mental Based Physical Requirements: High IQ Training Requirements: 1200 Word Training Post Description: This denotes particular knowledge in the field of Science. This extends to chemistry, physics, and biology. Someone with this special characteristic has a deep and involved understanding of advanced chemical concepts including chemical composition, chemical equations, knowledge of the periodic tables and many other concepts. It also entails great knowledge of modern physics including kinetics, electricity, and more. Finally, having this special characteristic denotes particular knowledge of biology and anatomy, allowing advanced understanding of various body systems such as the respiratory, nervous, and digestive systems in both people and common animals. This allows the use of many chemicals and poisons to be used as well as chemicals for medical purposes. HOWEVER, this does not allow someone to use medical based chemicals to be used as effectively as someone trained in eijutsu and does not allow the use of eijutsu techniques.
“Maka-san?” The women heard her name called from behind. She turned around to the open door (Which Heiki always tells her to close seeing that someone might wander in here) and saw the white haired man leaning up on the door post, arms folded and looking at Maka with eyes that withheld all things that he held dear to him “You need to really close this door. How many times-
“212 times Heiki” she carried the basket of clothing she had in her hand and set them on the table. She carefully pinched the edges, folding it inward once, then twice and over once before placing it back in the basket “And how many times have I told you to visit me Heiki? Hmm? If you can keep count on that then I’ll assure you that I’ll close that door”
“Oh, your words are cutting me. They stab me in my chest” he pounds his chest with his fist in a stabbing motion, then outstretched his arm grabbing at the air making choking sounds “Arrgh, blegh, fffff bleh” he fell over onto the ground sticking his tongue out. A well-aimed silver pot hits him on the forehead causing him to laugh. “Damn woman, you almost made me bite my tongue”
“Don’t bullshit this with me, I want to know why you are here. It’s bad enough that you’re here in this country without getting hunted down by the shinobi. Do you have any idea as to how much trouble you can get me in right now?”
The obvious aggression made Heiki put his hands up in surrender “All right, all right. I won’t bullshit with you, I promise”
“And watch your language. I will not tolerate that in my household, understand me?”
“You’re one to talk-“ He stopped watching another pot in her hand was ready to aim at his head with sniper precision. He kept his hands up in surrender “Yeah, yeah, whatever. You know I came here to get some books and info. I told you I would return whenever I needed some information. I’ve been moving about to find a woman that has been-
‘Traversing her way through the villages? I think I know you are talking about. Close the door”
Heiki got up from middle of the doorway and closed the door behind him. He took a good glance to see if anyone saw him. There was not a single sign of life except the humming cicadas. He stepped in and stood by the table “Yeah, she seems to have a tendency of moving through villages and disappearing, the typical wandering nin. Aughh, almost like trying to find grey lint among MORE grey lint. How did you know I was looking for her?”
Her obvious reaction of ‘really’ didn’t stun him so he backed away from the question. “Yeah, ok, so you know me a bit too well. This is-what?-the third time you’ve seen me?” he snaps his fingers “Ah yes, by the way…how have you been managing your stress?” “Oh my god” her forehead furrowed and her hand slaps it “This is not the time for that. I think you have more important issues at hand here.”
“Well, yeah, to you. Right now, I’m not searching for her. I’m curious about your health. I don’t want my cousin to be sick all the time because you aren’t following the suggestions that I gave you.”
“Heiki-“
“Maka”
Arguing with Heiki was not a thing Maka could do. She hesitantly glanced away at him hoping that his eyes wouldn’t meet his. That’s impossible to do, even she knew that. “Fine’. Ah that was the look Heiki was looking for. She hates it when he was passive aggressive. It annoyed her ever so much and his usual punishment was a pot to the face. But Heiki had already viewed her when he arrived at the door. He noticed how she had a slight limp in her walk, the knee almost buckled in as she moved the basket. The strain it took her to carry the basket was weighing down on her. Heiki had to look at her, if not examine her for some detail.
He walks to her. Maka had already sat down on the chair, with her back straight against the seat. Heiki sets a hand on her shoulder. The muscles didn’t seem to contort with the motion of his hand, feeling tense and knotted together. He then examined her neck, feeling the tension of muscle that was stringed together in a tight fitting blanket that if Heiki had to use some strength to loosen the muscle up, he would have to put some oomph into this. He got on one knee and pushed on Maka’s back telling her to lean forward. She did so obeying. He ran his hand down the center of spine. At certain spots, he would hear Maka take in short breathes. Each short breath indicated where he had ran his finger by “C2, C3, T2, T5, T6, T7, L1, L3” he said mentally.
He did the same thing with her back, her sides and down to her thighs. He could feel the tension in her body, feeling more knotted muscles than flexible ones. They were constantly moving, not resting or relaxing. She was tense, even as she sat here with her body not doing anything physical, she was tense. He could make the assumption that the amount of cortisol that she was going through at a daily basis was messing up with her body entirely. He could see the round bags underneath her eyes, slightly blue of tiredness. The eyes were dilated while the whites of her eyes were mildly bloodshot. The luster she had in her hair, which was once black and long like that of blacken silk had turned short and spots of white had shown within. He took note of these things
He stood up glaring at Maka as if she had committed a deadly sin. Could she blame him? He was a big brother to her, always protecting her whenever she needed protecting. Regardless, she turned away from him not wanting his eyes to beam a spotlight on her. She didn’t wish to hear his voice, not wanting to hear his answer. He immediately knew “How much stress has the village put on you?”
“Heiki- “Don’t Heiki me. Answer me. I may not know much about your village but I know damn well that nothing here should be giving you stress other than your two children, which is faintly normal. Someone has been messing with you and I’ll-“ Maka surprised him with her speed as to how fast he grabbed his hand He could feel the pressure of her hand squeezing his. Her eyes filled to the rim with tears, not wanting to hear any more of it. Why? Heiki did not know. He got down on one knee and looked into Maka’s eye. “Where are the books” he asked
She points to the library case next to the window. He walks over and looks over at the shelves using his finger to scan through the words to find what he was looking for. He saw a medical terminology book, an anatomy book, a book of different chemicals, a book on explosions, a book of animal behavior, a book on psychology. He found books on ancient mathematics, arithmetic, philosophy, genealogy, different world history. Each book contained the necessary aspects of completing a research he had begun almost five years ago during the time during the time of revival. He had gathered many treasures over the years, treasure that seemed minute to the average treasure hunter.
He was a man with curious taste and his curiosity has always satisfied that hungry desire to find more knowledge.
These were books that he had glanced over, almost completing to read and wanted a place to store them. Maka was the only person that could safely store the books he wanted. He took all of the books and began to place them into his jacket. One by one, the book disappeared as he placed it over the modified storage seal. When he was done, he gestures Maka to come over. She did so, but there was a
“Please, go to Kusagakure.”
“I can’t”
“Yes you can. You choose not to but you have the ability to go to Kusa. I ask you this because the times will be getting tougher in fire country. Over that horizon
“Your mother? Your father?”
“They are alive and well. I had them move long before the war within Kumogakure exceeded higher than the clan could take. They are a war clan now but that does not mean that they should be involved with a war that wasn’t theirs. Please?” He moved his hands over to her shoulder. Her hands reached for his, grabbing at his fingers. She could feel how coarse they were, how the calices had grown over each other. Yet they were the softest hands that a person had ever touched him. She leaned her head on his hand and sighed
“I’ll leave as soon as possible.”
Heiki nods and took his hand away from her shoulder. Her hands didn’t let go of his “But why Heiki? They made you look so much like a criminal and yet-“
“Yet here I stand, helping those that need helping and killing those that need killing. Yes, my life has been filled with turmoil. The betrayal, the sadness, the loneliness and yet I’m still here and I haven’t turned away from this fate.
“I was never good but I was never evil either. Perhaps as I journey myself towards this pathway, I realize that my mind has truly turn itself on and everything that I learned creates pain. A man once wrote that the more knowledge a person seeks, the more pain and suffering he begins to understand. Knowledge is a double edge sword. I could turn away from it and yet at the same time, it draws me in and I can’t allow that to happen.” He raises her hand up to his lips and he kissed it “I’ll be fine, Maka. Just get the two children and go to Kusagakure. I’m sure the Kusakage will take you”
Heiki let go of her hand and nods. He smiles a smile that you only see once in a while. Sometimes you don’t see that smile at all and you wonder when that person will smile like that again. Maka blinked and thought to herself that this man would do great things, whatever it was, he would be great. She looked up and saw that he was gone, He had disappeared out the door, with the warm wind running into the small house. He always had to make an appearance when he left.
Heiki realized as he was walking through the forest that he forgot to ask Maka about Uriko, the one armed kunoichi. She was once in a formidable group that was one that could had rivaled the Shantakai during the beginning stages. What happened to the organization he did not know but he knew that he wanted to find and meet this particular woman. He had leaned against a tree, reading one of the psychology books. He was looking over at insanity and he wondered who wrote this. They obviously take insanity way too seriously.
