He is extremely small, standing at only two feet. He is quite old for a treant, and much of his once vibrant foliage has fallen off.

Special Abilities/Characteristics: Due to his enormous knowledge of seals, and a strange talent this treant has possessed since sprouting, Deadroot is able to since active seals within a 50 yd radius, and has enormous knowledge about what to do in order to dispel them in most cases (most seals up to B-rank) however, much of the time he is unable to destroy a seal himself, and must tell Hanikaro what to do. He is also knowledgeable about genjutsu, and he is able to since slight disturbances in chakra flow when he is in direct contact with someone, enabling him to help them escape genjutsu up to C-rank, and recognize genjutsu up to B-rank.
Background: Deadroot was one of the summons Hanikaro met during his travels in the Grove of the Ancients. It was while he was traveling through river country, on his way to the village of Sunagakure, that Hanikaro stumbled upon a place known as the grove of the ancients. It was here, in this secluded forest, that he saw trees unlike any he had ever seen before. They were all sentient, and fully capable of movement. These tree spirits, who called themselves ancients were originally hostile to Hanikaro. However, they were pleasantly surprised by Hanikaro's wood style jutsu, jutsu that they themselves employed, but had never known an outsider to be capable of. The council of the forest elder's, the leading branch of the ent spirits, were called together to discuss the case of this special outsider. After much deliberation, they decided that, since he possessed powers like theirs, and showed no outward hostility, that he would be allowed to stay, as a friend of the ent's, but warned that this armistice only applied to him and those with similar powers.

Hanikaro was honored by the councils decision, for it was clear that the ent spirits knew far more about would style jutsu then he could have ever imagined there was to know. He trained amongst the ents for some time prior to leaving for sunagakure. A powerful Ent lord named Rootfellen was one of his main teachers in wood style, and the two developed something of a friendship with this teacher, whom he respected greatly due to his prowess, which far exceeded Hanikaro's own. Barkfist was one of his main sparring partners. During the three months he spent in the sacred grove, he learned more about the trees than he had ever thought possible. Finally when it came time for him to go, the ent's promised, should he learn how to perform a summoning, to lend him their aid in battle should he call, and had them sign the Ent-lords blood contract.

Summons Jutsu: This ent possesses no jutsu, and little chakra, however his usefulness lies in his enormous knowledge. A very old, but small, treant, he has studied the more complicated jutsu arts: Genjutsu, and Fuuinjutsu, extremely thoroughly. He is able to use his small amount of chakra to help someone escape from a genjutsu (only up to c-rank) by creating a disturbance in the genjutsu transmission chakra flow for the afflicted if they are incapable of identifying it for themselves, often being able to help the entrapped realize they are within one and kai it themselves.

This is not a D Rank summoning, it is far too strong for that.

but its just smart, it has no abilities. Would you consider pakkun a D-rank summon?

Pakkun has no ability to determine things in the battlefield like Fuuinjutsu or Genjutsu, don't compare the two of them because it is a very poor comparison. Your abilities make the summon above D Rank, thus it needs to be corrected.

I'll have to run back through this but I can see some problems just by skim.

Even at C Rank, just being able to know seals are within 50m is incredibly OP because you could pretty much wreck any Fuu user who uses stealth of any sort with this and its just not fair at all, nor is it logical. Knowing about something doesnt give you a sixth sense.

so, what would an appropriate range be? His ability to sense seals is his only real ability

Sensing seals is just an OP ability period, knowing about them and how to dispel some of the non-customs or given enough a time and some fitting occurrences, the ability to figure out how customs work as well. Just plain sensing things is OP because then theirs no such thing as a Fuuinjutsu trap, and it also doesn't make any sense anyhow, you didn't even explain how they were sensed.
