Arnea:
Spoiler:

Behind enemy lines. Thats where they were, or, Hanikaro should say, he was. A full-scale, three way war had broken out between Konoha, Kiriagakure, and Sunagakure. And, due to its location as something of a midpoint between the three countries, The land of fire had been selected as the frontline. So here they were, team two of Sunagakure, fighting for their lives. They had split up not five minutes ago, the genin sent scouting, Kakougan going after enemy shinobi in a diversionary assault. They were told that any enemy shinobi they encountered that they were to engage if they had the advantage they were to engage. This was war after all. So here he was, deep within the Land of Fire. All of his senses were on full alert, searching for any sign of the enemy. His clothing was worn, and dirtied from days of travel and sleeping on the road. He had arrived at a clearing, where he checked the time. Judging by the sun's position in the sky, they had roughly an hour left before they were supposed to rendezvous back by a river. It was then that he heard a sound, coming from the nearby underbrush. He pivoted, grabbing a kunai from his pouch, ready for the enemy.

((Short, I know, sorry : /))

The dark figure of the Kirigakure warrior emerges quietly from the dense undergrowth surrounding the clearing, the bright gold wave symbol shining brightly from the dark black helmet. The warriors face was covered in a black metal mask, sculpted in the shape of some terrible demon. A mouth full of fangs was rendered open, along with a pair of baleful red eyes. The cloak she wore concealed most of her body, the entire thing a suit of solid metal plates. The cloak covered her from her neck to her shins, leaving little of her flesh exposed to attack.

Her cloak was open in the front, the perfect defense only broken so she can present before herself a formidable offence. In he hands an eight foot long spear juts forward, it's two two feet of perfectly polished, razor sharp metal. Beneath her cloak, steel shin guards protect her lower legs and feet, while soft black robes cover her vital places. Fishnet armor fills in beneath that, tiny rings of blackened steel hugging her body and keeping it mostly safe.

"I am Saru Saya, and you are unfortunately off course." she says, having been assigned the defense of this particular passage to the river. Her voice is cool and level, lacking in emotion. "Lay down your arms. Surrender, or I will destroy you."

Hanikaro's tan skin glinted in the morning sunlight which pierced through the leaves. He took in the newcomer analytically, taking in all her features. The armor she wore, the way she handled her spear. Even as she ordered him to surrender, he paid no attention to her order to back down. Rather, he was trying to deduce her level of ability. She couldn't be very old, probably no older than he. She handled her spear well, but he could tell, be a polearm user himself, that like him, she was no master. After about a minute of analyzation, he was ready to make his move. She was either another genin, or potentially a chunin. Either way, he had a reasonable chance. Bothering to make no vocal response to her threat, he decided he would make this as quick as possible, with minimal chakra consumption. Quite suddenly, he burst into a sequence of handsigns, his long fingers dexterously going through the sequence of motions. After performing four of them, his thumb went to his mouth, and he bit down hard, immeadiatley drawing blood. As the taste of iron filled his mouth, he slammed down on the grassy ground beneath them. The second his hand reached the soft earth, a well known circular seal of summoning appeared beneath it, and less than a second later, a cloud of white smoke poofed around him. As the smoke dispersed, his freshly summoned ally was revealed to the opponent.

The creature, he knew, was probably unlike anything the girl had ever seen. Treants were quite possibly the rarest species of summon throughout history. Countless numbers of animal contracts, and variations had been seen in combat before. But to use a creature such as this- Hanikaro knew he was the first in histoy- something that made him one of the most formidable genin in the world. The bark of this living tree coated it with a thick, natural armor that no normal weapon would easily pierce. Barkfist's arms, which looked like tree limbs with clawed branches towards the end of them, possesed almost imcomparable strength, enough to break this woman's benath her petty armor. He appeared to have no legs, but could move as fast as, if not fastere than, the vast majority of genin-level shinobi. The treant wore a single accessorie: a seashell necklace which adorned his neck. His eyes were bright green orbs of what looked to be pure energy, and he had a thick set of branches which extended above his head and were covered in green leaves, reaching up to make his full height a towering 6 foot ten inches. His gnarled, bark-like mouth opened, and gave a greeting in the guttural language of his kind to Hanikaro. He then turned towards their enemy, glaring at the warrior-woman. Hanikaro gave him a brief signal, that for the moment, he shouldn't engage. At least, not just yet. Not bothering to tell her his name, he finally replied "Hello Saru. I would advise you to heed your own advice. Drop your weapon's, and remove your armor, and I shall hand you over to the juristiction of the Sunagakure court as a Prisoner of war. Refuse, and your corpse will never be found."

"Well now.. that is something new." She says calmly, undaunted by the appearance of the large wooden adversary. Those would be the only words she spoke, and they were spoken more to herself. With no hesitation she begins forward, pressing her down against the ground and charging forward. Her movements betray her talent, seeming slow and the slightest bit clumsy. She certainly seems like she has far from mastered her weapon.

However, illusions are one thing, and reality another. As she's charging towards her opponent she lowers her weapon, drawing one arm back and letting the sharp bladed end trail behind her. Her right hand draws up infront of her and lifts a finger, half a hand seal needed for even this minor jutsu. She vanishes mid-step as a puff of smoke surrounds her, and she teleports behind her enemy.

She swings her yari quickly, the two foot long blade crafted in the same metal and manner as a warrior's fine katana. Her weapon was old, likely older than both of them together. It first saw it's use before the formation of shinobi villages, and it's deadly design functions far to well. The strong narrow blade cuts through the air as she drags it towards Hanikaro's chest, her swing somewhat slow but aimed well. She had little doubt that he'd be able to dodge the assault, but she would power into it anyway.

She forces more chakra into her muscles, gritting her teeth and growling behind her mask as she finds new power. Mid swing she presses on, powering through with the same attck and spinning in a circle, swinging that blade in a long arc until she is facing the tree. She'd find out how deep into the wood she could cut.

His enemy wasted no time entering combat- typical for someone from kiriagakure. So warlike. She made a full frontal assault towards him- or at least, it appeared to be that way at first. However, shortly after she began charging towards him, her long spear at the ready. Deciding to keep his own use of similar weapons a secret for the time being, he watched her style carefully. She had skill, that was for sure, enough to almost effectively bluff Hanikaro. However, subtle movements in the way she gripped her polearm tipped him off to the fact that she definitley knew what she was doing with a spear in her hands. Her Shunsuin no jutsu came as no surprise either- to him or Barkfist. Such a technique was all to commonly used by close ranged fighters in an attempt to gain an edge. Hearing the rushing noise of the spear behind him, Hanikaro ducked under the uncoming spear. Barkfist, who swiveled to meet his opponent, did not do the same. Nor did he need to. The treant held up a single, deceptively thin wooden arm, and Hanikaro heard the spearhead's loud 'thunk' as it collided with the bark of the tree spirit.r he He heard Barkfist cry out in pain, and anger. Hanikaro quickly pivoted from his crouching position, pulling out three shuriken, which he threw at close range towards his enemies feet. Thanks to the special gloves he wore, these weapons made no sound as the shot through the 6 foot gap, aiming to hopefully to hit her acchilles tendon.

He then looked up to survey how much damage had been done to his treant comrade. He let out a breath of relief: the damage wasn't bad. The spearhead had dug into Barkfists arm about 1/3 of the way through the dense wood. Unfortunately for Saru, Her spear would be lost to her. Barkfist reached over quickly with his other arm, grabbing the shaft of the long Yari. In his firm grasp, he removed the Yari from his left arm, a look of burning anger in his bright green eyes. Then, after removing the weapon head, Barkfist still held on, and then, with a single, yanking motion, pulled the polearm towards him with enormous strength. Such strength, that either the spear would be yanked from the woman's grasp- or she would be yanked through the air along with it, towards barkfists waiting arms- something that she definitley did not want to have happen.

(well, this is OffRPG. But it has been approved, it just hasn't been trained. And really, it's been trained, it just hasn't been seen by another moderator yet.)

Go figure the woods to be strong enough to take it. She releases her Yari, as she'd intended too anyway, spinning backwards towards her enemy as does. She had hoped to wedge that long, strong, peice of bamboo deep in the tree, and encumber it. Inwardly she sighs as it pulls the spear free, but she'd have to deal with the tree again later.

The shuriken each find their target on the heel of her well plated boot, their sharp but light tips to easily bouncing off her heavily armored feet as she twists her body. Her feet land with great power, driving slightly into the ground as she reaches down for another weapon. Even without her largest weapon, Saya has a vertible arsenal hidden away beneath her cloak. Her hands wrap around a length of strong chain, and the weighted ring attached too it.

As she ducks her cloak closes, her hands retreating beneath it to let it cover herself completely. Shuriken would be pointless against her defenses, and it's likely kunai would as well. The solid steel helmet is wide and dome shaped, secured strongly to her head with straps and thick stiff leather. Saya was a very well equipped soldier, outfitted with the finest quality of weapons, but she'd been rendered quite slow. She remains still, making no attacks but moving subtly beneath her cloak. She gathers up another of her weapons to replace her lost yari, and prepares to take the offensive.

As she prepares for another attack, figuring it will come from the massive tree thing behind her. Only it's bulk could crush her inside her sturdy cloak. She peers through the holes of her mask at Hanikaro, looking for the best opening.

((OOC: w/e Hage, I honestly don't care that much ^_^))

Hanikaro frowned, as his opponent, quickly realizing her disadvantage against the Treant, choose to use that annoyingly armored cloak of hers to turn herself into a miniature bunker against his assaults. Such a tactic would, in fact, probably be quite effective against normal assaults. Unfortunately for Saru, Hanikaro's attacks were anything but 'ordinary.' He looked up, to see a spear sailing through the air, thrown sideways, towards him. Barkfist, after all, had no use for the polearm, but he knew of Hanikaro's own talent with such weapons. Hanikaro dexterously grabbed the long spear out of the air, performing a few practice moves with it, and getting a feel for the weight, and feel of the weapon.

He did this for a few moments, all the while keeping a careful eye on the crouched, covered enemy, whom he felt certain was continuing to watch him. Finally, about a minutes warm up, he gave a curt nod to Barkfist, who understood the gesture. Hanikaro lowered the Yari, holding it with two hands towards the end of the long shaft. Then, he charged forward. The spear was directly level with the cloaked figure, who would have to move to get out of its way: no matter how armored she was, there was no way it would protect her against that level of penetrating force- and when she moved out of the way, Barkfist was prepared to grab her. Once that happened, it was all over. However, even as he charged, Hanikaro was well aware that she probably had a variety of Weapons other than this one polearm, and he was prepared to quickly dive out of the way if necessary. As the two figures closed in on her, one from the front, and one from the back and to the side, Hanikaro made a quick motion, and hurled a kunai to her right- the one direction she could dodge. Attached to it was a fairly obvious exploding tag. Hanikaro knew that this tag wasn't well hidden, however, it didn't need to be- it's sole purpose was to entrap her between him and Barkfist- but cutting off the one direction the two of them weren't covering. There was nowhere to run- and little she could probably due- but Hanikaro knew better than to count the amazonian woman out just yet- even as the distance between them closed to under 10 yards, and just a couple more seconds till she would be ran through by her own weapon.

PostSubject: Re: A mission.. (Wind vs. Jsalos) A mission.. (Wind vs. Jsalos) EmptyFri 05 Mar 2010, 4:52 am

Saya narrows her eyes behind her mask, shrugging her shoulders just a little. Her fingers work over the fine chain links counting them out in her head. She already had it at the right length, now she just waited to strike. Her enemy would find the spear to be of supurb quality, perhaps one of the finest weapons he'd held in his hands to day. The yari was four hundred years old and had claimed a thousand lives before Saya even got it in her hand. It was perfectly balanced, light, flexible, strong, and above all, razor sharp.

Watching that weapon be brought towards her, she knew her cloak would not stand up. The sharp blade was made for punching through armor, and her cloak would be no different. Of course, it'd be long before she was struck that she'd finally appear. As Hanikaro began his charge, Saya begins one of her own.

Her armor cloak flies open suddenly and with no warning, the ninja beneath it dashing forward with remarkable speed. In her hands she holds her Kogetsu Shoge, a ninja weapon of genius design and a hundred uses. The long chain had been formed into a loop which she held in both hands, keeping it wide and the circle open. The rest of the fifteen foot long chain was gathered up in one hand, along with the dagger attached to the end of it. When Saya appears she's moving much, much faster than she was previously. The lack of weight on her shoulders finally frees her for light and rapid mobility.

As she dashes forward she darts to the side, evading the sharp tip of her spear as she flings the chain over it. The wide loop would fly past the spear and over her opponents head, lassoing around him like some coybow's rope. She continues running past her enemy as she pulls the chain tight, and tries to drag him off his feet.

Wrapped around him as it was, he'd find it close to impossible to wriggle free. Nothing short of breaking the chain, or getting some slack in the line would loosen the loop and allow him to wriggle from it. Saya assures that no slack will form in the strong chain by running towards the closest tree, and trying to drag him along with her. It wasn't far, and if she coul drag him upwards she might just be able to hang him from it.

Hanikaro cursed under his breath, as Saya suddenly burst into motion- leaving her metal-plated cloak behind, and gaining quite a bit in the speed department. He knew that he had been caught off, guard, as he tried to react to the uncoming lasso. Just as it seemed he would be ensnared however, there was a slight creaking of wood, and then, suddenly, 5 thick branches- each incredibely sharp at the tip, shot above his head. The lasso came down, wrapping around the wooden fingers, the wire tightening around them rather than around Hanikaro. Hanikaro let out a quick breath of relief, thankful that Barkfist was a fast thinker- He gave a quick nod toward his companion, before bursting into handsigns. This was an opening which he had to take full advantage of. With her chain wrapped around the three hundred and ninty pound wood spirit, there was absolutely no way she could move hope to move Barkfist as she had appeared to have been trying to do when she charged beyond him, expecting her chain to ensnare him, rather than five of Barkfist's elongated fingers- which now resembled twelve foot spears. Hanikaro pivoted quickly, weaving a sequence of handsigns as he did so, and then holding out his palms. It was time to reveal his bloodline- though given that her back was turned, it was unlikely that Saya would have any time to see it. At this short a range- with no visibility of the enemy, the chances of anyone evading were slim to none, as Hanikaro held out his palms- from which shot forth wooden spears, shooting forward at incredible speeds towards Saya's exposed back. Given that in a moment, her chain would run out of slack, and she would be forced to a halt by Barkfist- unable to move the treant an inch, and she would have less than a split second to realize the impending danger. "Farewell, Saya Saru" Hanikaro whispered under his breath, as he spears came within inches of puncturing her flesh.

PostSubject: Re: A mission.. (Wind vs. Jsalos) A mission.. (Wind vs. Jsalos) EmptySat 06 Mar 2010, 2:59 am

Saya runs past Hanikaro with amazing speed, even outrunning the loop she cast out beside her. Her eyes go slightly wide behind her mask, amazed at the speed of the wooden bohemoth she was up against, her feet digging into the dirt and spinning her around. She draws her arm out sharply, pulling the lasso tight around the treent's spear like fingers. She gasps, quite loudly, as her opponent's outstretched hands suddenly become a danger.

Her mind screams move as she sees the wooden spears forming from his palm. Saya wheels backwards as the spears dart towards her, moving surprisingly fast. The girl jumps back quickly, giving her the precious extra moment she needed to save herself. She releases her grip on the chain and brings her hands in front of her quickly to block. Just as the spears strike her, she's covered beneath a small cloud of white smoke. Her chakra tears through her body, enhancing her speed to unheard of levels for the briefest moment of time. In an instant she moves, about twenty feet in total.

Shunshin no jutsu was one she had worked tirelessly for the past three years to master. Typicaly this is easily learned even by academy students, but Jutsu were more difficult for the weapon based Soldier. An unfortunate habit of Sayas has rendered her in a somewhat predictable place. While escape might have been prefered by some, running was something she seldom did. She finds herself standing on solid ground, directly behind her enemy.

She sways slightly for a moment, the dizzying speed which she moved with catching up to her a moment after she lands. The imposing figure of Bark Fist stands infront of her, it's one hand out stretched still to protect it's master. The dangling end of the chain she released finally hitting the ground near Hanikaro. Without hesitation she reaches for another weapon, her hands wrapping tightly around the grip of her katana and drawing it from it's sheath. As she draws it she attacks once, drawing the sword up across the tree beast quickly.

While after so much effort, one should think that Saya would be much more exhausted than she, but she shows no sign of wear. She says no words, and simply attacks with relentless ferocity. Since the fight began she's showed no signs of giving in, and no signs of pain. Even now she acts as though she has not been touched, when those last spears struck her quite well. Out of Hanikaro's sight he might not notice, but a long gash found it's way across her midsection. The cloth of her robes split open to reveal the fine chain links protecting her beneath it. Most minor attacks will bounce right off the fine mesh. However, even the chains couldn't stand up to such swift punishment.

Blood leaks down her right side, the cut a surface wound, but still enough to cause great pain. In spite of this, Saya fights on unaffected. Her sword moves are remarkably fast, still riding the wave her swift spear technique, and the lack of her armored cloak.

OOC: Actually Hage is kind of right. Unless terms are agreed beforehand, having stuff that isn't yet approved on your application could be considered godmodding. As you could use any jutsu you want and use the excuse that it's merely an OFFRPG. This isn't really acceptable, so I believe your wrong Pat/Jsalos. Also Jay, please try to respect other staff members or members all up, your second OOC statement was very rude. I'll allow you to continue with the cloak in this fight as Wind doesn't have a problem with it.

Your opinion on the system would be conflicting with the numerous Staff who worked on assembling it for the site and your thoughts on it are not going to be the kind to change something that has already been approved by Staff as a whole. The rules are being enforced, whether they are up or not, though I don't know why they aren't up yet when they're completed and could easily be. The rules are live and the odds of you being able to change the system is effectively none, to be frank about it, its also insulting to the people who assembled it to call it 'stupid'.

EDIT: As it stands, the issue is present in Staff and it may or may not be a misunderstanding in the wording of the rules, in which case the odds of specification of the rules are high. Actual 'changes' are still not likely due to the effort involved.

(I only calll it as I see it. Such a ruling would be stupid. I'm not insulting those who came to that conclusion, though you are welcome to feel as offended as you please. If you can't take people disagreeing with rules, then those people probly shouldn't be Mods. Rules are made to be as much questioned as they are enforced, and once that rule is posted, I will question it plenty. To tell me that my arguements will fail, without even hearing them, is a sign of tyranny. I don't mind if people don't like me, I'm going to speak my mind regardless.

Clearly this topic has ended. I guess the practice fight is a draw. Thanks for the fun, Jsalos, it was good practice.)

"There's little need for words in a fight, and much less need for fear." She said calmly, not typicaly one to utter a peep while dispatching her enemies. She managed a couple step forwards while Kakuhan was fishing for his seeds, but haulted as he dropped them to the ground. She watched on for a moment as the thing took root, and began to grow. True to her word, she shows no sign of fear, she watches the zombies while assessing any quick solutions to her growing problems at hand.

The strange creatures this jounin fought with bore little resemblance to the puppets she'd heard about in the academy, and just seemed to be growing more plentiful. Saya begins to back off, a rare sight for an Ashigaru. Strategic withdrawal was hard to bear, but sometimes necessary. Sword in hand she pauses, deciding her retreat just as the zombies begin to approach. Though she didn't have much chance at victory, she wanted to impress this jounin with her cunning, and last as long as possible.

She squeezes her mostly exhausted chakra supply into a jutsu, and vanishes behind a small puff of white smoke. In half a second she deposits herself a good sixty feet to the side, beside the tree her kunai and throwing axes were planted in. Safe for just the moment she quickly begins to rearm herself, pulling her four throwing axes out of the tree and turning towards her enemy.

She prepared herself to start flinging those axes at the zombies, but certainly wouldn't be surprised to turn around and see her end. This was a jounin she was up against after all.
