Appearance:
Basara stands rather short for his age, at just about 5'2" he often finds himself looking up towards most of his female colleagues. On top of this, his body frame is also rather meek at first glance, often leading most people to describe him as a runt. His hair is a fiery red and rather long which often causes him trouble. To compensate, he holds his bangs back with a small hair clip coloured red itself as to camouflage it. This though, has caused some of his hair to spike out to the sides rather violently, causing some distress for him. The remainder of his hair is tied into a ponytail that hangs just above his shoulders. Basara's eyes are a dull jade in colour and quite sharp. Even when calm, his eyes can sometimes give off a near cat-like glare that often puts strangers on edge when nearby.
When it comes to clothing, Basara is quite minimalist, finding a simple t-shirt and shorts to be the most comfortable for most seasons, with the colder months, pulling out longer pants and coats. These all tend to be blank, single colour garments, though sometimes the shoulders and arms of shirts will be given a secondary colour. Gloves are a favourite accessory of Basara's, again simple in colour and design, black with no remarkable features. Missions are approached in a similar manner, as Basara will wear the standard genin uniform of a dark brown, sleeveless shirt and long pants. Underneath he wears a chain mesh vest and leggings to help protect himself from enemy attacks. During missions and anytime he is on active duty, Basara will have a single loaded quiver strapped over his back and his bowblade attached at his hip in it's sword form, ready for quick deployment.

Personality:
Basara can often be described as an outgoing individual. Still young and rather naive to the world around him, he likes to do things on a spur of the moment basis. While this does place him into trouble more often then not, it does give him a fun personality for others to be around. A caring individual, he will often take time out of his schedule to help those he finds that may be in need, or simply to aid someone requesting for it.
In wooded areas such as the training ground and the surrounding forests of the village is where Basara feels most at home. Having been raised by his father as a hunter at an early age, he enjoys the feeling of the leaves brushing past his skin as he leaps through the trees, stalking his prey. He finds himself almost at piece during the times he is lining up his shots. The light breeze squeezing its way through the trees, rustling the leaves and grass softly while insects buzz around and birds are chirping the day away. Just nothing between him and his target, pulling back his bowstring and the surge of adrenaline that pumps through his body as the arrow is released and the moment of truth commences. He takes much pride in the hunter spirit he inherited from his father.
During missions is when that side of his personality shines far more than his usual cheerful self. He can become deathly quiet as he carries out his mission with the same deadly precision he uses to take down rabbits. Slow, calculating and patient, waiting until the perfect moment and striking there, ending it in a single blow.

Combat Style: Basara is a heavy ranged fighter, preferring to keep his distance from his enemies by launching sneak attacks and using cover to remain safely hidden while he waits for his opportunity to strike. In more close combat fights, he'll keep himself at mid range with rapid arrow volleys and various explosives. With his wide variety of weapons and attacks, he is able to keep his opponent on the defensive and bide himself time to set up a proper vantage point. In the event of close combat, he will attempt to parry and counter his opponent's attacks while looking for an opportunity to break off and once again engage at a safe distance.

Description: A skill gained by ninja who have begun to specialize in the art of stealth. The ninja becomes very light and quick on their feet. Their movements no longer create sound and they now gain a natural skill for hiding and camouflage.
THE BACKGROUND.
History:
Pre-Academy: Basara was born to a small family of four, counting himself. They lived at the edge of Konoha and owned a small shop peddling various wares such as leather, fresh meat and herbs. Their products were all gathered from the forests as Basara's family were talented hunters. For several generations they had been hunting in the forests surrounding the village to the point that its layout was almost engraved into their blood. At the age of four Basara was taken out of their first hunt. He didn't participate, but was told to observe. Surprising his father when Basara showed an almost natural talent as he followed his father's footsteps almost precisely, making minimal noise and until it came time for the kill, he was quite co-operative. Though his resolve shattered upon seeing the target was a small rabbit. It was a harsh lesson, but one he learned.As he got older, he began training with a bow, learned to follow animal tracks, to stalk them, get close and fire. He skinned his first animal at 7 and at 10 was out hunting everyday with his brother and older sister.
As he got older though, things took a turn for the worse, there was a small scale infiltration of the village by some criminal ninja and Basara's mother was caught in the crossfire. During the funeral, Basara made the decision to enroll in the academy. He did not want to lose anymore of his family, not if he could protect them.
Academy arc: The academy was an entirely different experience for Basara, while excelling in the field and practical tests, the paperwork and classroom settings were always his downfalls. Having to answer things like how much force to put into a throw of a shuriken to ensure it flies precisely x meters at y velocity was something he just couldn't comprehend. It came to him naturally in the field, but he could never place numbers to it. Despite this, he was able to barely graduate though his practical test marks and made a few friends along the way. He learned why others joined the academy and as it turned out, their reasons were quite often similar to his own. With notable exceptions such as glory and revenge seekers. He observed the multitude of different fighting styles emerging already in the inexperienced lot he called classmates. Everything from simple taijutsu, to ninjutsu, to genjutsu there was so much he needed to learn, to combat it, to defend against it and to work along side it.
Genin arc: Since becoming a genin, there hasn't been many eventful moments. He had been given some simple missions, though most could be summed up as doing favours around the town. But Basara didn't mind too much. He continued his training and his hunting during downtime between missions, swearing he'd become strong enough to protect those he cared about.
Roleplay Sample:
"Drip... drip" The consistant sound of falling water echoed through the humid darkness with the steadiness of a metronome. Atop a secluded ledge, Kazuki waited in absolute silence. Not moving his body even an inch as to avoid disturbing even the smallest pebble. The catacombs were narrow and long. Any noise could easily be carried for miles. Because of this, he even limited his breaking to one breath per three minutes.
He had been waiting in the darkness for well over six hours and the exchange time was now only minutes away. The Village had recieved word of Black Market trading occurring in the caverns around the Merchant town of Izilude. It was well known that Black Market goods were constantly coming and going through the town. However this time they had an informant as well as a location and time of one of the major trade routes. If it was to be shut down, the market in the area would fall into chaos and the Leaf could move in and close them down permanently.
The route involved navigating through the miles of underground catacombs with only a few paths leading to a secure exit. Because of the danger the caves possessed, only a brave few who entered their depths and returned know the safe routes. Unfortunately, none of these people are known by the Leaf Village. The informant knew the layout of the first two hundred meters in as he used to play there as a child. So, using his directions, Kazuki was able to locate a suitable location for hiding. If the information was correct, then a caravan should be coming through this area and meet up with another contact at the cave entrance. If all goes well, he should be able to take out the caravan and capture the contact in one fell swoop.
The minutes ticked by to the echo of the water and there was no sign of the caravan. Twenty minutes after the scheduled time, the sounds of footsteps and old wooden wheels could be heard echoing through the cavern. A glow from an oil lamp began to illuminate the darkness and the forms of three men and a large wagon began creeping along the cave floor.
Silently, Kazuki made his move. Unraveling his robe from around his sword he glides it along the ceiling, creating noose-like appendages that began to lower to the men's throats when a fourth presence alerts him to call off his attack. Leaping from his hiding place as several senbon are lodged into the rock face. Upon landing on the floor he looks over to a Hidden Rain ninja glaring at him through his shadowed face. The cart quickly evactuating the area.
"Looks like your ambush failed you pathetic Leaf". He laughs as his voice bounds off the walls creating an infinite echo that engulfed Kazuki. "What's with the silence?" He taunts as the light from the cart fades. "Stunned as to why your plan failed?" He takes a few steps forward as the cavern fades to absolute darkness. "Well..." The voice echoes before a swift breeze passes Kazuki and it returns in his ear as nothing more than a whisper "We just cut the legs off the noisy cricket". With that, the splash of a puddle and swift sound of thin objects cutting the stale air and impailing a soft object are heard.

Description: This technique transforms the user’s appearance to that of another object or person. However, it is not a permanent transformation and a mental image of what they are transformed into. Certain aspects of a ninja will not change merely by transformation, these things may include injuries, tool pocket placements etc. The jutsu will dispel should the user be injured. The user does not gain the properties of their transformation (ie. horse like strength), and may only transform into something ranging between 1/2 of their regular size, to 2x their regular size. Thus one cannot transform into large creatures.

The object that the user switches with must be preset somewhere else in the thread, meaning that the object must have received specific mention previously in the thread.

After forming the necessary handsigns, the ninja will seal the item into a scroll etc. Scrolls can also be used as ammunition for other weapons or have other seals inside of them, which expands the number of potential tricks a shinobi can use. The items themselves are unaffected by time. Ninjutsu can also be stored in scrolls, to be released when the scroll is opened, but require another person to cast said Ninjutsu; else it cannot be sealed.

The string is wound around a pulley system which allows the user to quickly adjust the resistance of the string. This allows the bow to be adjusted to make quicker shots or stronger, long ranged shots with ease. The edges of the bow itself are sharped and the entire bow can be folded down into a short sword. In this form, the blade is just over half a meter long, about 60 cm and 20 cm thick. The blade is good for making quick cuts, but stabbing motions are to be avoided as they could damage the mechanics of the bow. The bow folds by first pushing out the center of the bow, this becomes the hilt of the sword, the bottom pulley is then slid to the center of the hilt while tightening the bowstring pulling both tips together. For this jutsu, especially at C - Rank, and increase of speed at 50% is unheard of. Your other C - Rank technique increases speed to 10% so this would be silly to have as well. Please remove for now as this technique would be of a higher rank and currently unusable for your character.
Weapon
How does it fold up into a sword? I don't quite comprehend how this can occur realistically.
Quiver
For right now, can you store a maximum of 25 arrows per quiver? As you rank up, you can of course, acquire more.
Overall, good application for a genin, although there was some punctuation, capitalization and grammatical issues especially prevalent in your history. |
