Yoroi Kaguya

Having spent the majority of his life in the fire country and it's extended woodlands, it felt like it was time for him to be on his way to see a bit more of the world. He was not much of a Shinobi, nor did he know any people from the village, so there was nothing that really stopped him from taking a look around the world. The village had never bothered with him, just like how he had never bothered with it, keeping things on a highly superficial level. That did not mean that he had never done anything for the village, for he had been helping out store clerks and hunters on several occasions, showing that he did at least have good intentions.

Packing the things he would need in order to better survive on the road, he packed a fair amount of roasted meat and water from the nearby spring, this being all he really needed in order to survive for about a week. With his superior hunting skills, he would be able to catch and kill other prey along the way, so there would not be any problems for him along the way if hunger was to be the only enemy on his path. It was not much of a problem for him at all, the forest had been good to him in the past weeks, providing him with enough food to last for a long time.

Roasted deer, wolf and squirrel, various kinds of nuts and berries, all the things he needed in order to survive in the wilderness grew in abundance, so there was not a single reason as to why he would not be able to make it on the road. Taking some of his most treasured totems and cloths with him, he put everything in one of the leather cloths and bound it around the edge of a bone stick, giving it the appearance of a classic travel as portrayed in children’s books. Even though it looked funny, it was an effective way of travelling.

Placing the bag over his shoulder, he went on his way to the horizon, not really having a destination in mind at the time. He did not know when he would be returnin yet, though he was in no hurry either way, which was something that worked in his favor quite a bit. Walking through the woods, he always felt more at ease then when following the roads, believing that animals were a lot more useful, for they usually found stuff like mushrooms, berries and other edible things out in the forest, all of these being to his benefit.

It also had the added bonus of moving in a manner that was a lot harder to detect. He had applied this way of travel before when going to other places in the country, always moving through streams in order to cause people to lose his tracks and scent. He had no reason in doing so, though it was a good thing to do when traveling in areas known to be inhabited by wild animals, not really desiring to wake up in the middle of the night when surrounded by wolves or worse. For now, the only thing on his mind was to see more of the world, to see more of nature and make more of his totems.

With Shakreido, his trusted companion following him around, Yoroi started wandering the place, figuring if he would just keep going in his current direction, he would reach another country in little to no time at all. Looking to his side, he could tell that Shakreido was not entirely sure if it was wise to leave without a map, though it had already been said and done, and the village was several kilometers behind him, too far to walk back and still hope to reach the border before dark. When Shakreido suddenly stopped, it seemed that his keen sense of smell had picked up the scent of others from his village.

Noticing the tracks, it seemed to be worth while to try and follow them towards their destination. Going by the size of their footwear, they seemed to be no older then he was, or they just had small feet, which was also a factor. Whether he knew them or not, to him it would be a fun little adventure and a chance to see a bit more of the world before he would go back to the woods of the fire country, not planning on abandoning his little forest home for anything in the world

Yoroi Kaguya

A day and a half after leaving

Braving the harsh and cold weather of whatever country he had entered by now, it seemed that there was little to no sun or warmth at all in the place. Shakreido had been incapable of following him through the snow, instead burrowing his way beneath him, the one place where he could keep his body temperature on steady levels. He was a snake after all, the kind of creature that did not have warm blood in it’s veins, meaning this kind of weather could kill it quickly. It didn’t matter, in a snow storm such as this, Shakreido’s amazing ability to catch up on someone’s scent was useless anyway, the cold wind and thick patches of snow obscuring any kind of sensory they could rely on. All he had to go on was his vision, the bear skull he wore as a mask and also as a helmet working to keep a small amount of snow from flocking directly into his eyes.

Finding a rocky crevice that seemed to work well enough as a means of staying out of the storm, Yoroi paced over towards it, wrapping his cloak tightly around himself like a cocoon, containing all the warmth and keeping it from escaping. There was no telling when a storm as heavy as this would clear up, having very little experience with this kind of weather. It seemed that all he could really do now was try to contain as much warmth as possible while keeping his body dry. Lucky for him, the snow was of the dry kind, so unless the weather suddenly changed and turned wet, he would be just fine hiding out inside of the rocky crevice. Taking a piece of dried meat out of his pocket, he started taking in one bite after the other, eating slowly, for there was no need to rush. He was not going to go anywhere until things cleared up, maybe he had to even spend the night out in the cold.

He had left the comfort of the fire country over a day ago, passing through the country of hot springs, a place with a lot of kind people that gladly pointed him in the right direction. They did not seem all that used to fighting, though they sure knew how to help out a young traveler that needed help reaching his destination. Most of the people got rather startled when they saw the large snake that was following him around for some reason, but neither Yoroi nor Shakreido paid too much attention to these people, choosing to just ignore them and press on. He had no money to buy anything along the road, though the traders of the country of springs were nice enough to trade his headband for a bottle of water, something he could refill time and time again when on the road. His headband had just been a useless attribute anyway, not serving any purpose rather then showing what village he hailed from.

Up until he got lost in the land of iron, Yoroi had been following the tracks of others that came from the village of Konoha. It had been quite easy to follow them, though that was always the case when following groups of people as opposed to following just one. Shakreido’s ability to smell them and their tracks just made stalking them all the more easy for him, though he had not imagined things to end up as they did now when he started this journey. Stuck in a storm, slowly eating through his rations while being unable to get any meet for himself in this blasted land. All he could see was snow, miles and miles of snow that seemed to stretch out endlessly across whatever country he had gotten himself into. Once he got out of this country, he would not be going back there for a good amount of time, having learned to hate snow.

The snow was only good for one thing, water. Scrapping his empty bottle through the snow, he made sure it was filled to the brink before putting the cap back on and taking it with him underneath his cloak. When it was so close to his body, the snow would surely melt and provide a new source of water for him. Hoping Shakreido would find the right way to go while he waited, all he could do was sit back and eat, waiting for the snow in his container to melt and the snow to stop, for that was the most likely time for Shakreido to make his way to the surface and lead the way for Yoroi. Closing his eyes, the long wait began.

Yoroi Kaguya

Another day later

Yoroi had been in luck, the snow had stopped falling several hours after he had taken shelter from the storm. Having slept through the storm under the cover of his warm cloak, he was awoken by Shakreido who bumped his head into his side. Upon opening his eyes, he could tell that the storm was over, now able to see a whole lot more then the could when he first set foot in the country. It was a place filled with large mountains in pretty much every direction, separated by large white fields of soft snow. As he stood up, he shook the snow from his cloak so as to keep it from watering down and drenching his clothing. It was cold outside, and under these conditions, he could not allow himself to fall ill on top of everything else. Throwing a chump of meat at Shakreido, he happily swallowed it all down in very little time, for such was the way snakes ate. At first, Yoroi had been amazed at the way in which he dealt with his food, figuring he would barely get a taste of it, at one time making a remark that he might as well feed Shakreido animal droppings, seeing as he would not get to taste it anyway.

After swallowing the piece of meat, the serpent pointed Yoroi to the north east, telling him to keep going in a straight line, passing between the mountains if he wanted to get out of the snow as fast as possible. Watching as Shakreido went back into the ground, it would only be for the best, he would be no use to anyone if he ended up frozen solid. Sticking to the directions that had been given to him, Yoroi put his food and water away, put his cloak back around his shoulders and started braving the weather again. Unlike a few hours ago, the country was actually quite enjoyable now, though it was still far too cold for comfort. It was his luck that he had his cloak and warm boots as opposed to the Shinobi footwear, his style of clothing keeping him a whole lot warmer. Just thinking about braving this weather when wearing sandals made his toes feel like separating from his body and running into hiding. Standard gear or not, he’d rather wear something he felt comfortable in over something that would not be effective in various kinds of temperatures and climates.

Due to him walking rather then running, Yoroi preserved a lot energy that would go to keeping his body warm, he allowed himself to become more familiar with the country, even if everything looked the same as the rest. The fire country was filled with such lush forests and green plains, this country was nothing like it at all, though chances were that the grass and trees were just covered by layers upon layers of snow, a very likely thing indeed. In a way, Yoroi was glad that he had been to this country at least once, this experience making him like his home in the forests of the fire country all the more. After walking for several hours through the cold white snow, the horizon finally held signs of life that were not entirely covered in snow, proving to him that he was finally making his way out of the wretched snow. Going by the looks of things, it was a different temperature over in the distance, hopefully being the border that would allow him to leave this place of sticky white coldness. Starting to run as fast as his feet could take him, he dashed across the white plains towards the place that appeared to be the border.

After a good thirty minutes of just running like a mad man, he finally made it to the border, standing on a cliff that looked out across something entirely new. The place he saw next was entirely different from what he had just finished passing through, a lot warmer too, though it was not a result of the sun. On the other side of the cliff was a massive field filled with geysers, something he had only seen once before in his life. He knew that the warm water shooting up was a result of volcanic activity beneath the ground, the water capable of shooting up tens of meters in one go. Several kilometers up in the distance, he could see a large mountain, spitting up large amounts of ash. It was without a doubt the volcano that was warming up the geysers, he was sure of it. Geysers had been something he had seen before, though this was his first ever volcano, the visual of it almost making him do a little happy hop. He obviously would do no such thing, especially when standing on top of a cliff, but that did not mean that he was not sincerely happy that he had finally been able to leave that blasted country of snow and ice.

Shakreido had already made his way towards the warmer border long before Yoroi had arrived, laying flat on his belly, absorbing the warmth shed upon him by the generous sun, a kind orb of heat he had not seen for over a day, all thanks to the blasted snow and blizzards. Setting foot on normal dirt and grass almost felt like a blessing after the things he had been through. Sitting down against a sturdy rock, Yoroi allowed Shakreido some time to soak up some warmth while allowing the snow to dry off of his cloak, replenishing his own energy by drinking some of the snow that had been melted down into refreshing and ice cold water. Just by looking over this new land, he knew he would probably have some entertaining experiences here.
