Creation Only SC's

For the new SC's I am making to help out Dan and Kyle I have come by the concept of creation only SC's. These are traits which one would require to be born with, and thus makes no sense to train later. Such things as the 'Night Eyes' or 'Double Jointed' SC which are the first two I've made come under this category. Is everyone happy with the idea of them only being applied at creation? Would you prefer they're available to previously existing characters for a month or so after they're all finished?

I haven't read the SC's you've made yet but they're pretty self explanatory. I'd argue that the eyes could be transferred and somebody could become double jointed after a medical procedure. In fact Soften Modification a jutsu in the Ninjutsu Encyclopedia is a better version of this SC. it's the tech Kankuros Chuunin Exam opponent used.

Indeed, but those are still pretty limited options to attain such things. A Shinobi isn't going to find someone to perform such surgeries easily, and they'd have to possess a pair of black eyes to transplant to begin with. While the Soften Modification is a Jutsu rather than a medical condition, which actually exists. The SC's are not meant to outperform Jutsu either, so it's a good thing Soften Modification is superior.

I'd still be inclined to say limiting certain SC's to Creation Only feels wrong.

I understand how you feel, but I still feel uncomfortable with certain SC's being trained.

We need more opinions than just us two, why's nobody else getting involved on dis? ;O

I'll back Adam's opinion on this as I'm not fond of Creation Only SC's in the slightest. The two examples given can be worked around quite easily, in my opinion. Firstly I see very little beneficial gain from the Night Eyes SC other than the fact that no one can see where you're looking, well, that's not exactly special. Tinted glasses and goggles, contact lenses, simple Genjutsu and even standing from a distance will all grant the user this 'special ability' of opponents not being able to see where they look and I'm sure everyone would rather go for one of the listed alternatives rather than have an SC slot taken up.

As for the Double Jointed SC, besides a Jutsu already existing similar to this, one can go about the training quite simply. By detailing the fact that their character was born with double jointed limbs, they can then say that they've only now just begun training with these double jointed limbs to make them of actual use. We also allow members to role play within the past and so the training could even be done as a child. What I'm trying to say in all this is that there will probably be someway of getting around the idea of Creation Only SC's and I can't see them being a bonus for the site.

Alright, I'm fine with you giving your opinion on Creation Only SC's. But we're not here to talk about the 'purpose' of those in creation, that's up to Kyle and Dan. SC's aren't always about taking a different route to get the effect, there are a few which are not exactly 'useful'.

I can see your point of view on Creation Only SC's a lot more clearly with the listed examples.
