Description: The ninja innately possesses a high IQ which gives them great practical and analytical prowess. They have vast knowledge in nearly all forms of combat giving them a upper hand when faced with nearly any attack with being able to execute split second counters. With their high IQ the user can determine weak spots in attacks and defenses and can overcome nearly any obstacle. Like the obvious benefits of being very smart, the ninja is well regarded for their great mathematical and thinking abilities.

On June fifth, two children were born to Zangetsu and Nazami Hōzuki. The first was a boy, whom they named Engetsu along with Hōzuki tradition, after the cycle of the moon when he was born. The second child was a girl, given the ordinary name Ami. From the beginning, Ami was a shadow compared to Engetsu. He was the son, he was the first-born, he was the heir. But, that was only a part of it - the smaller part, even. Engetsu demanded everyone's attention for what he was born as, an albino. He was called a curse, poison to the clan's blood. Attempts were made on his life from outside organizations. Everyone looked to the child, either worrying about his existence or worrying for his existence. Zangetsu and Nazami loved Ami, but when you have to protect your son's life, your mind tends to be occupied. Too busy for other things. Other children.

Ami, however, was not left alone. Zangetsu had a younger brother, Gengetsu. Gengetsu and his wife, Yodo, often looked after Ami. Gengetsu and Yodo lived alone, unable to have children themselves, and were always willing to watch over her. The older the twins grew the more they grew apart, as more attention fell on Engetsu. Over time the couple even began to see Ami as their own child. Ami, who was too young to understand the tension in and towards the clan, the danger her brother was in, or even his shadow that she fell under, was a relatively happy toddler. The child had a sense of loneliness, knowing something should be there but not knowing what that something was, but beyond that was content.

The twins were still but babies when the dispute between the Hōzuki clan and Kirigakure no Sato finally climaxed into violence. When the clan was attacked and run out of town, Zangetsu and Hazumi were, of course, protecting Engetsu. Ami was taken to safety by her aunt and uncle. She was taken, along with most of the plan, to Konohagakure. There, the clan began to rebuild itself. As for her family, they, along with a few close friends who had escaped with them, had fled to Kumogakure. The clan that settled in Konohagakure severed its ties in Kumogakure, forbidding contact. Gengetsu, an average shinobi who was unable to ever rise above chunin, was unable to reunite with his brother for fear of being hunted down by his fellow Konohagakure Hōzuki.

And so Ami grew up without this knowledge, believing Gengetsu and Yodo were her mother and father, and that she, along with the rest of her clan, were natives of Konohagakure. Her early years were peaceful, but very sheltered. Her "parents" were afraid to let her wander outside alone, and so she spent most of it alone. Being, as far as she knew, an only child, she spent much of her time alone. In addition, though she didn't know why, the other members of the clan were not kind to her. They weren't cruel, at least not intentionally so. But she was burned into their minds as a reminder of the past, a past they wanted to move on from, forget. And so they forgot her, avoided her as much as was possible. When Ami did venture outside, the people of the village had a similar view on her. She was a Hōzuki child, a stranger. Beyond that, there were no children to play with, no family friends to arrange play dates or watch each others children. She simply didn't belong.

Though, Ami was not in solitude. Gengetsu, an untrusted foreigner without the draw of an amazing shinobi's skills, was never quite able to meld into Konoha society. For the first years he struggled to get any missions at all, or manage to work with a team. All his free time he spent training, or out on the town trying to build friendships. Because of this, Yodo began working. She utilized the only skills she had, gained through being a housewife, and worked where she could as a servant or a cook. With what little free time she had, she would educate and play with Ami.

Yodo did her best to bring Ami up right, teaching her good values and morals. She also tried to bring Ami out into the village when she could, so she could at least be around other people. The young Hōzuki was lonely, but a relatively happy child on the surface. She smiled and behaved well, but Gengetsu and Yodo could tell there was something brewing beneath the surface. Ami's troubles, her dark feelings and emotions; she kept them hidden away. Even as a child, they perceived her to have great emotional depth and understanding. And unlike other children who threw tantrums, her turbulence raged beneath a calm surface. For this reason, they called her Kairyū, or ocean current. The young Ami had trouble pronouncing the name, turning it into Kairi. She grew up with the name, her aunt and uncle hoping that if she forgot her true name, she would forget her true family as well.

As the years passed, Gengetsu made little progress. Yodo continued to juggle two jobs and raising a child, and as time passed the stress began to take its toll. Her overworked body fell ill. Unable to take a proper rest and recuperate, her condition only got worse. Ultimately she was forced to stop working, and Kairi did her best to take care of her. But it was too late to help Yodo, and she passed away. This tragedy sealed Ami's fate. She had always looked up to Gengetsu for his determination and character, and had already chosen to go to the shinobi academy on her own. Yodo's death left a permanent mark on her. She blamed herself for not being able to care for her, and swore to make it up to Yodo by caring for others, and mastering medical jutsu.

After the loss of his wife, Gengetsu made a decision. Without Yodo's income, he simply couldn't take care of Ami on his own. Not only could he not afford expenses on his own, he couldn't afford to be there to take care of her. He had just started building trust among his fellow shinobi, and it would all be lost if he spent his free time at home. It was something they had planned to wait until after Ami had grown, but he broke the plan. He told Ami who she was, and that her true parents were in Kumogakure. He didn't tell her of Engetsu, however, unsure of whether the child would still be alive. Gengetsu sought the help of Baba, one of Yodo's employers, for help.

A month later, the plan they had come up with was set into action. Ami was given supplies and smuggled out of Konoha. After what to her seemed like a very long journey, dangerous besides, Ami reached Kumogakure. However, it was a large village and she was a little girl. She didn't know how to utilize the village's resources to find her family. And in addition, on her way there and on arriving, she met with negative attitudes, both towards strangers and towards the Hōzuki clan. After a while of futile searching, she gave up on trying to find the Hōzuki household. She applied for the ninja academy, and signed a contract allowing her to use a small room given she made top marks, had perfect conduct, and graduated to genin.

So it was that she began her life as Ami Tsukiyo, exchanging her false first name for a false family name. It felt fitting to her, no matter where she was, a false person. The girl felt as though her youth had been a lie, and was now lost, unsure of who she was or who she was supposed to be. Instead of working through it to find her true self, she devoted herself entirely to her studies. She graduated to genin, not exceptional or a stand-out, but with grades that properly reflected her intelligence. She was put into team thirteen, along with Hakiri, Sanjiro and Kuhei, Kenshin. She didn't know either of the boys, or anyone, really. She had kept to herself throughout her time in the academy, and most people combined her silence and intelligence into an image of her as a snob, no no one tried to befriend her, either.

Over time she and her teammates grew closer. Sanjiro seemed a little off, and Kenshin seemed a little full of himself, but the three were undoubtedly friends - and the only two friends she had. She felt a little left out, always seeming to be behind the two boys, who were always fueled forward by their rivalry. At first it had been exasperating having to go on missions with them, their fighting getting in the way of the job. But somewhere along the line they became rivals, and friends. From then on she enjoyed being on the team, aside from feeling guilty about being the weakest link.

And then, everything changed. It was so sudden, without warning. One day, everything was fine. The next, Sanjiro's mother was dead. And then he, too, was gone. Ami wanted to chase after him, to comfort him. She could understand his hurt, mix it with her hurt of losing Yodo. But she didn't know how. After everything, after going on missions together, growing together, bonding together...she was still ultimately alone. She tried to turn to Kenshin, but he was consumed. He barely looked at her anymore. The team had fallen apart completely, and often she was the only one who showed up to team practices, besides Ichiro. Missions were meaningless, with Kenshin on his own personal mission - searching endlessly for the killer who had taken away Sanjiro's mother, and in doing so taking away their entire team. Ami felt lost and alone, more than she had even in the shinobi academy. She didn't know how to help Sanjiro, didn't know how to ease his pain. Nor could she help Kenshin. He said it himself, that she held him back. She began to wonder if friendship was meaningless after all. Or if it was her that was the problem, and she would never truly be able to connect with someone.

Things continued on like that for two months, and then Kenshin was gone, too. He had told her he found a lead last time they spoke, and now, she feared, he had gone after him. When he still didn't appear the next day, Ami went looking for him. The shinobi discovered where he had gone, and immediately went in search of Sanjiro. She rushed to his room and banged on the door, luckily finding him there. She told him Kenshi had been searching for the killer, and had tracked down his location to an old warehouse on the edge of town. Her former teammate took one of her kunai and dashed off. Ami rushed after him, but their distance grew and grew. As always, she was behind the other two, this time in a painfully literal sense. She lost sight of Sanjiro completely, and then stopped. The Hōzuki had seen that part of the village, shady, countless warehouses in varying states of use and decay. Without Sanjiro, it would take her hours to find the right one.

Minutes later, a young shinobi burst into the police station in tears. Squads headed out and she followed after. Along the way, she was stopped by Ichiro. He forced her back to the station, to wait for news. Hours later, she was standing over a hospital bed. Kenshin was dead, and Sanjiro was nearly there. His bruised and bandaged body began to blur as tears streamed down her face. It was all her fault. If she had been good enough to help Kenshin, if he had seen her as a partner rather than a nuisance, they would've gone together. If she had been smart enough to look for Kenshin sooner, he may have been saved in time. If she had been experienced enough to know her own village, she could have gone after Kenshin rather than having to run to Sanjiro. If she had been fast enough, she could have kept up with Sanjiro. But no, she was useless. She couldn't help Sanjiro heal from losing his mother. She couldn't help Kenshin look for the killer. She couldn't save Kenshin from the killer. She couldn't fight along side Sanjiro. She couldn't try to find them. Now, standing here, an aspiring medical-nin, she couldn't even do anything to help Sanjiro heal.

She cursed her uselessness a thousand times. She cursed Kenshin for going off alone. She cursed Sanjiro for leaving their team. She cursed the serial killer for planting the seed that destroyed them. She cursed Yodo for dying. She cursed Gengetsu for not being able to take care of her family. She cursed them both for lying to her. She cursed her true parents, whoever they were, for not keeping her. But most of all, she cursed herself. She cursed herself for the hate that coursed through her veins as she looked down at Sanjiro. She cursed herself for her weakness. She cursed herself for not being able to help her team mates. She cursed herself for not being able to help Yodo. She cursed herself for not being good enough for her parents. She was always a burden, a weight, a drain on others.

She closed her eyes, and then turned from the bed. She wouldn't bring Sanjiro, her only friend left, down any further. She whispered words he would never hear, and then walked out of the room. She walked out of the life she had built, back into isolation. The final member of team thirteen was gone. All her life she had been a push over, a weakling with a need to be liked. Now, she took the broken pieces of her heart and stacked them back up, building a wall between herself and the world. Nobody had ever needed her, and now she would refuse to need anyone, ever again.

She saw Sanjiro once more, after he had healed and return to his work as a librarian. Perhaps it was an act to say goodbye to her old self, perhaps it was a sad attempt at helping him after all this time, or perhaps she was simply to lonely to never speak to him again. He never answered her question, and she left without even a goodbye. But she knew he would return to being a shinobi. The white haired girl hoped Sanjiro would find a way to overcome the losses he had suffered, and prosper. As for herself, she didn't care anymore about finally finding love in friends and family. She simply lived on, doing her best to do her duty to her village.

"C'mon Kenshin..." Ichiro glanced over at his pupil, catching the whisper on the wind. She was faced mostly away from him, her slim figure standing at attention with her hands clasped tightly at her chest. The shinobi couldn't see her face, but her profile spoke of the tension in her muscles. He glanced out over the village, quiet this early in the morning. This was the third time in a row. He rested his head in his hand, wondering if there would ever be a team thirteen again. Sanjiro was his hope; if the child could overcome the loss of his mother and return, then perhaps Kenshin wouldn't be so consumed that he lost sight of his teammates.

"Well!" The girl jumped a little and looked over, seeing her sensei slide off the wall he sat on and gently touch down on the ground. He looked over at her, eyes large and snowy hair dancing in the wind. Suddenly he thought of the team's early days, when he would try to bet on which of the boys would go for her. He shook the thought from his head and started walking, hearing her fall in step behind him. "Let's get started."

"But..." Came the forlorn protest that always inevitably came. Ichiro frowned, feeling sorry for her. Teams weren't meant to fall apart, especially so young. The three of them had just begun to realize the bond they had when Hakiri's mother was killed. Now all three of them were broken. Sanjiro consumed by heartbreak, Kenshin by anger, and Ami caught in between.

"Ami, it's just you and I today." She looked up at him, only to gasp and jump back. She landed lightly a few feet behind as Ichiro straightened from his attack position and smiled. "Now, for today's training there is only one objective: Don't get hit." Ichiro watched her miscoloured eyes with a hint of satisfaction as the meaning of his words slowly dawned on her.

"Just me and you? Bu-but I can't--"

"You want to be a medical ninja, don't you? You must be able to evade your opponent, even if they are stronger." Before she could protest any further he drew a kunai from his sleeve and leapt forward. She pulled back as she pulled a kunai from her holster, just barely managing to bring it up before his came down. The genin deflected his three quick strikes, and then went flying backwards after his kick landed squarely in her gut. She threw her arm out, gaining purchase on the ground - more out of luck than skill - and back flipping to avoid falling to the ground. Already he was almost on her, and the fair skinned girl threw a shuriken, only to see him blow up in a puff of smoke.

"You won't always be faced with a frontal attack." Her eyes widened as the words were breathed into her ear, and then another kick hit her side.

The items themselves are unaffected by time. Ninjutsu can also be stored in scrolls, to be released when the scroll is opened, but require another person to cast said Ninjutsu; else it cannot be sealed.

The user aims with a gun-shaped hand at the target, and fires a small water bullet at them. Enough to pierce the skin about an inch (2.5cm) deep if fired from a meter or two away; leave a bruise at three to five meters. Beyond that it acts like a rain drop. Able to disperse a shadow clone at close range.

Description: Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique that utilizes water to create a Bunshin clone. Unlike a normal Bunshin, the Mizu Bunshin has the ability to interact more with the environment due to it having physical substance. This allows the clone to carry out limited attacks on its target, but none utilizing chakra. The range of the clone is limited however, it can not travel further than 10 meters from the original body. If the Mizu Bunshin is injured, the clone will usually revert back into its natural water state.

Description: Suirou no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique that utilizes water to imprison an opponent. The ninja forms the necessary hand seals which causes the water to form around the target into a spherical prison which only allows for limited movement. The ninja must keep their body touching the water prison to maintain its existence. If the contact is broken, the water falls away and their target is released. When combined with a solid bunshin technique, the ninja can imprison their target but still allow for a clone to attack others nearby.
