"Now, a staple of the superhero mythology is, there's the superhero and there's the alter ego. Batman is actually Bruce Wayne, Spider-Man is actually Peter Parker. When that character wakes up in the morning, he's Peter Parker. He has to put on a costume to become Spider-Man. And it is in that characteristic Superman stands alone. Superman didn't become Superman. Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he's Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red "S", that's the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears - the glasses, the business suit - that's the costume. That's the costume Superman wears to blend in with us. Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent. He's weak... he's unsure of himself... he's a coward. Clark Kent is Superman's critique on the whole human race."

Generic my ass. There's some actual thought put into his character, that's why I like him.

Perhaps we should make a new topic for further debate on this.

Heh, this is the classic argument. Is Superman really a unique super hero? Is Marvel better than DC, or is DC better than Marvel? Who hasn't had this argument as a kid?

I don't like Spider-man...I like Heroes, Like Thor or Deadpool. Superman, is a hero with a lot of generic super powers. He is over used and I don't like him. DC copies Marvel, for example, Marvel had Marvel zombies, then guess who comes out with a Zombie comic? DC

Sure his sense of humour needs a little work, but the whole spider thing is pretty cool. First arachnid/insect-based hero I ever saw, and my first favorite hero.

Speaking of which, when was the last time a DC-based movie was made that wasn't about Batman or Superman? Look at Marvel, you've got movies about Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, Ghost Rider, Blade, Daredevil, Fantastic Four and one or two more that I'm forgetting.

Dark Knight was only great because of The Joker's acting, otherwise it sucked. And I liked the Marvel movies, though I haven't watched all of them.

One Actor can make a movie... though I would argue that the special effects were amazing, and there were only a few things that bothered me

That's outrageous. The Dark Knight was the best live action superhero movie ever adapted. Are you seriously going to compare it to movies like Fantastic Four and Ghost Rider? Iron Man and the Spiderman movies were the only good marvel live action film adaptions and that was due to Robert Downey Jr.'s performance for Iron Man and Sam Raimi's directing for the spidermans
